I don't usually write reviews. However, my experience here tonight was so awful I felt it necessary. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:25. 35 minutes until closing. I work in a restaurant, and understand when customers show up a minute before closing that it is obnoxious, but there was still plenty of time for a party of one to order, eat, and leave. My server repeatedly was walking through the restaurant complaining about not getting out of there any time soon in front of the customers. She also spent most of the time on her cell phone. When she informed me that they were out of sweet tea after my first glass and I asked for Dr. Pepper, she brought the new drink back in the same glass l had been using. I don't understand all the negative reviews. I've been eating there ~30 years and never had a bad experience. Homemade flour tortillas are outstanding. Always. Salsa verde is outstanding. Wednesday chicken fried steak is usually outstanding but sometimes greasy; a little salsa verde makes it right. My favorite breakfast tacos are chorizo and bean both because they are good and are easily eaten on the road. read more

Mr. Taco in Lockhart has the best lunch specials. The service is consistently good. The prices are extremely reasonable and the chips and salsa taste great. They offer sweet or unsweet tea and that's included with the enchilada plate lunch special for around $6. Wednesday is Chicken fried steak day and it's wonderful. I highly recommend this place for lunch any day of the week. Weekends are busy in Lockhart. They also serve wonderful breakfast tacos. read more

I am from Newport News, Virginia. My mother and sister live in Lockhart. Everytime I visit them I have to go to Mr. Taco. Just love the place. Food is great and so is the staff. When we return to Virginia I always take 6 dozen flour tortillas home with me. Recently my mother and sister visited us here in Virginia for my daughter's wedding. And with them came the flour tortillas. I couldn't have been happier. read more

Every time we go to Mr. Taco we wonder, how are they going to over charge us, how are they going to mess up the order, is there a new way the service can be bad or the staff insulting. So far they have lived up to this standard every time. The food is good, the staff and service are extremely bad, so bad it is almost comical, if it weren't happening to me. read more

Upon my first visit, I was both amazed and confused by the sheer number of toppings to choose from for their breakfast tacos. Drove through with a co-worker and got a couple tacos and they were ok. So I decided to give the lunch menu a try, and I was not too pleased. First off, the service leaves much to be desired. For the most part, it seems, every restaurant I have visited in Lockhart, the service has been exceptional. This is to be expected in a small town due to the laid back nature. But these people were just downright rude! I got the beef taco plate and noticed right away a peculiar smell. I couldn't quite place it, but as I ate the meal, I just couldn't get past this smell. I came to realize that it was the tortillas. I'm not sure if they were just not fresh or if they just had a funky smell. Well, the smell was off putting and sort of ruined the meal for me. I don't believe I will be heading over for lunch any time soon. But i can't complain about the breakfast tacos. read more

went there today for a nice dinner we thought. this place is awful... there chicken tacos tasted like it was boiled chicken,just plain nasty. the waitress was filling my tea glass but only filled it up about half way because her tea pitcher was empty and never returned to fill up completely.asked for a fork and never received it...this place is not fit to cook for dogs let alone humans... the hot sauce is nothing but a can of tomato sauce and a pepper,no flavor...really how do these guys stay open... read more

These people are RUDE! Breakfast tacos are ok. They taste good but WAY WAY WAY over hyped by the population..They have been here a long time which may lead people to make the leep that they are the best inwhich there are not. I have eaten here my whole life mostly due to lack of any desent other options the food would be rated at 3 stars but the 1 star review comes from how rude every drive thru and front counter help is and have consistantly been the last couple years. I go into the front entry counter to order because the drive thru is so long and the same rude young girl is there taking orders. No hello No goodmorning just "What do you want!" Not even "What would you like." This is not a review of a onetime event this is consistant rude service. I am always treated like I am inconveniencing her by placing a order. The last time she was standing there eating potatoes and beans and told me to hold on. It sucks this place used to be so much nicer to visit. Maybe they are stressed from there tax/legal issues. This evening at Mr. Taco was a very unpleasant experience. I sat for 30 minutes and no one came to assist me. I love their enchiladas and tortillas,and was looking forward to a nice dinner so i thought! That didn't happen! We stopped a waitress who was passing by and my husband says we'd like to order, she responds to him with "this is not my section" ARE YOU FRKN SERIOUS?? what happen to "team work" long story short i sat there for an hour and no one came to my table. Mr.Taco's evening wait staff are a bunch of uneducated individuals who have no business working in a restaurant, they lack communication, professionalism and people skills. They are VERY RUDE and I agree w/ the other person about the silence, yes NO ONE greets you when you walk into that place it' s an unpleasant experience over all. Horrible service. The meat tasted as if it was bad. years ago I was their knife sharpener. They would cut trey after trey of meats and store it on the floor in grey plastic containers. Sometimes I would go in the morning and they would have me come back after lunch. The treys of meat would still be on the floor beside a heavy traffic area and it would be 3 pm. I remembered this when I tasted the meat and knew it was off. They also have president bashing CNN on TV's all through the restaurant. That's what everyone wants is some heavy Trump bashing with poor service serving poor quality food. CNN/ The View = same difference. read more

OMG! My husband and I are enjoying some really decent puffy tacos and freaking head banger music started blaring. LOUD!!!!! Honest to God it made my headache. Never again. My son and I stopped at this place last night on our way through Lockhart. The staff was unresponsive... not rude, just slow and not interested in working. It took a long time to get our food even though they weren't busy. I had the puffy tacos and my son had the crispy ones. They just tasted like grease, nothing else, not even salt. The grease had soaked through my taco shells so that when I picked them up all the filling fell out through the bottom. The place looked clean but smelled like dust and the bathrooms were dirty with no toilet paper. read more

If you want to take a break from the BBQ scene, Mr. Taco is a great option. The food is excellent, the price is great, and the staff are friendly and efficient. The drinks are great too. I've spent some time exploring all the places in Lockhart I can get to on horseback, and this is definitely one I will return to. read more

We ordered breakfast Sunday about 9:30 a.m. did not get our food until about 40 minutes. It was only menudo. So slow.

When in the mood for breakfast tacos we would occasionally come to Mr Taco. The food is good but as of recently my boyfriend became extremely ill with food poisoning after eating their steak fajitas. We really used to enjoy going to Mr Taco but i feel this is unacceptable!! Unfortunately, the only recourse i can give is a low rating in turn for causing my boyfriend to suffer immensely and to miss out on work, just for eating their food. You can go here, and most likely enjoy the meal, but you will most likely regret it later! read more

You might be better off getting a breakfast taco from a fast food joint like fake ass McDonald's or Sonic. Tacos are warm at best. Fake flour tortillas that are cold. Come on, At least throw them on the comal. I didn't know that pigs were on the endangered species list in Texas? I ordered a bean and bacon taco. They put one skinny undercooked strip of bacon in it. That was the saddest taco I have ever seen and tasted. I used to look forward to driving through Lockhart in the morning to grab a couple of tacos at Mr. Taco on my way out of town. Lately their quality of food and taste just flat out sucks. New management? New cook? I'm not sure what happened. At least serve those half ass tacos hot. How you gonna serve half ass food room temp or cold? I guess I will have to wait till I get to Luling next time and try that taco shack I always see a line at. The Breakfast Tacos are amazing. You can not beat the pork sausage, egg, and cheese or chorizo, egg, and cheese anywhere. That being said, I really dislike all the other food there (lunch & dinner). I have given this place dozens of chances threw the years, but now I am done. The food is heavy, greasy, and bland. The salsa and chips are also always really bad. I cant even drink the ice tea. Once my tea was so bad that I told the waitress that I could NOT drink it. She asked why, and gave me a rude look. I told her it was because the tea tasted like sewage water and that there was a fly frozen inside one of my ice cubes. As I showed her the fly, she laughed, and said, "yeah the tea is usually pretty old, we don't dump it out and clean it daily. We just brew new tea on top of the old tea from the day before". She really said that to me, which explained the taste. But I do want to reiterate that the Breakfast Tacos are wonderful! They have awesome home made tortilla from scratch. Just don't eat there after 11am and never order the tea! 5 stars for BF and 0 stars for anything else. read more
