First time to mr taco and new to the area. i wanted to support local restaurants so i picked this spot to satisfy my craving for some nachos. Their menu says 12 chips for any nacho order. i didn't believe it. 12 chips, lol. Yes, you only get 12 chips and if you want meat your choice is ground beef. (at least the meat had some flavor) but 12 chips? sorry that's a "no bueno" for me. The price was 12 dollars. i guess $1 a chip. i can't support a place like this. maybe i will give another chance for their breakfast menu. i notice the lines are long in the morning. i will keep you updated. read more

False price advertising! Menu outside had pricing, what I ordered was $8.29 I paid $9.59 +tax at the window. When confronted they had all the excuses that their prices went up. I told them that's their problem because the price displayed is what I should pay. I told them to just give me back the difference, I still wanted the food. They gave me a refund of only $9.59- I paid $10.38 after tax. Had to go back through to get my full refund. Preston Crabill was a horrible cashier he messed up my order 5 times last night I ordered two double cheeseburgers with mayo and one of them medium rare they were fully cooked and completely dry and bland that's on the chef's but Preston was disrespectful and was not nice at all he had a attitude acting like he owned the place and he just was rude I will not be returning to Mr Taco because of my experience very upset about this last night will not be returning here again. read more

First time here and I'll be back ASAP! I am a connoisseur of Carne Guisada since my favorite place in Marble Falls during COVID. This is the first place that I'll definitely order it again! I also had the Tortilla soup which was delicious! My guy had the El Grande plate which had one of everything. You're missing out if you don't stop at this little gem! So at 12:35pm today My family & i went to Mr. Taco and an elderly lady was really rude! and very unnecessary for her to curse in spanish!

I spent a week in Lockhart and unexpectedly stopped by Mr. Taco for some takeout. The reviews aren't the greatest so I wasn't expecting a lot but I ended up having a good experience. While I didn't dine in, ordering takeout was a breeze and the staff was friendly. The food came out quickly too. I ordered a taco al pastor, a beef fajita taco, and a taco norteno. I loved the first two tacos and no surprise as they're classics. The meat was flavorful, the tortillas were fresh, and the accompaniments did the trick. I was excited to try the taco norteno as it was a first for me. Unfortunately, the lady working didn't tell me it had jalapeños and I can only handle white boy spicy. I picked them out but the jalapeños left their mark and led to some fire breathing on my end. The taco is somewhat similar to a quesadilla as there's melted cheese in addition to the meat. I ended up having to chunk part of the taco as I couldn't do it. I washed it all down with a refreshing agua fresca. All in all, you can get some affordable tacos and they have a wide selection. read more

I have been eating at Mr. Taco since I was small, and never had a problem with them. Chips and salsa are always super fresh! i love going to grab some breakfast tacos on the weekend with my family. crowd levels can get out of control on weekends, and wait/drive through staff does their best to accommodate. The parking lot gets pretty packed and can be tricky to maneuver, but that is due to location and the fact Mr. Taco is not a huge restaurant but very popular. There is additional parking in the back, but everyone tries to get a spot close to the entrance. Mr. Taco is a hometown favorite for me, and I will keep giving them my business. read more

Went out to eat this evening on Valentine's Day. Wanted to eat some Mexican food. Figured I could start dieting tomorrow. Came in and sat down and was tended to pretty quickly. Seating area was spacious and noise level was low. I liked that. For some reason my mind got set on puffy tacos. I ordered a chicken puff taco, a carne guisada taco, and a gordita with ground beef. The puffy taco shell was light, crispy, and shaped nicely. It was easy to hold, did not break, was not dry, and it was stuffed with shredded chicken. Chicken was tasty, not heavy on the spices, and the rest of the taco had avocado slices, with just enough fresh lettuce, and tomatoes. It was one of the best puffy tacos I have eaten in a good while. I definitely will order it again. Second. The carne guisada taco with cheese. Again, full of flavor. I could taste the spices just fine. They did not over do it. The pieces were cut just right. I don't like the huge pieces that you have to cut up or pull apart. Carne guisada was flavored just right. I loved the flavored Mexican spices. Yes. Very good carne guisada. Lastly, the ground beef gordita. Was wrapped up nicely in which again, I could hold up without fear of it falling apart. It was warm, it was moist, not dry, packed with nicely seasoned ground beef with a little shredded lettuce and tomatoes. It was packed with avocado. I absolutely loved that. The gordita shell was very tasty. I felt the juices trickle down a little as I held the gordita which was very telling of how juicy it was. All in all it was very delicious. Did I mention it had plenty of avocado? It did. It was so good. I shared a frozen margarita and it was cold, crisp, dressed with the coarse salt in a nice small thick glass. It had a very clean frosty look. I loved that about it. Not too strong, not to weak. Just right. I give Mr. Taco a nice four. Come out and check it out. You won't be disappointed. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! I know this post may cause some locals to be upset as Mr. Taco has been a favorite of many for a while but after visiting this evening I will never be returning. As we sat down to have dinner with our family and on our second serving of tortilla chips sitting right on top of a chip was an object that to the naked eye looks exactly like a rat dropping. My 5 year old daughter actually grabbed this chip and showed it to me thankfully before biting into it. I took the chip from her and my mother removed it off of the chip and onto a napkin. She smudged it a bit with the napkin and it smeared. (As shown in picture) . We brought this to the attention of a waitress who was disgusted but stated she didn't believe it was a rat dropping because it wasn't very black but likely a bug but still showed disgust. (As if this was much better). The napkin with the dropping was left with waitress but I eventually requested it back because it just didn't sit right with me. We chose to keep our order in place since it was late and we still weren't sure if this was in fact what it appeared to be (we eventually regretted this). Our table was the table closest to the bar area which was closed to the public for the evening. The occasional staff member would go back and forth inside this area which could be seen by customers as it has a glass door and several windows. At the end of our meal and while paying we sat and talked a bit while waiting for our card to be processed and 3 of us saw a rat in the bar area running and going underneath the fridge. Total shock but so disgusted because this just confirms our suspicions that likely it was rat dropping on our tortilla chips! We notified our waitress who had already informed us that the manager was not on duty but would be in the morning and we could contact her then. She apologized deeply but we know it isn't the staff's fault. I will be contacting the manager at Mr. Taco in the morning to address this but also the health department to see if they can test this napkin with dropping to confirm whether or not it is what it appears to be. I'm beyond disgusted. Both my kids, myself, my mother and step dad ate the chips. My mother was visibly disgusted and threw up outside their restaurant. Not to mention they have at least 3 rat boxes outside of their building so it's clear they know they have an infestation problem. Just beware, as we get more information I will update this post. ***Update*** State licensed, well known and reputable pest control business in San Marcos, TX has confirmed from what the inspector can see that it was rodent droppings. Even suggested to the type of rodent it may have been, Norway rat. SMH! Local health inspector has been notified, investigation to follow. *** Last Update*** City health inspector performed an inspection on 11/29/22 and I was informed of their findings. Many violations, confirmed presence of rodents, two live rodents stuck on glue traps in kitchen, rodent droppings and rodent dropping contamination in storage area where to-go containers, Styrofoam, etc., are held. Restaurant was provided with a number of compliances that must be found met upon re-inspection on 12/2/2022. read more

Go to Garcias in Lockhart. 11-26-18: played touch tones song, mr t only allowed to play softly, handicap entrance to steep for electric wheelchair 12-2-2018: no bartender, boy made margaritas without alcohol, took 30 minutes to get them, waitresses chatting it up in back 3-18-2019: My 13 yr old daughter had a sip of a margarita in my precense, the bartender came to our table and asked for her id, he said it's illegal for her to sip in my presence. I showed him the state statute and the tabc allowance for minors to drink in the presence and supervision of her parent. He still thinks hes right 4-30-2019: No bartender again. Just arrived in Texas and stopped here for a Mexican lunch. We walk in and the employees all turn away from us and continue to ignore us as we look for seating. No one said anything to us so we just sat down, but I wish we had just left right then. Eventually a waitress came over - no smile, no hello - handed us menus and left. After about ten minutes she brought us a basket of stale chips. The margaritas were watery and weak. The food was served cold, very bland, and did not taste fresh at all. There were many things that I liked about my last visit to Mr. Taco in Lockhart, TX. The food was very flavorful. The chips were great. The homemade flour tortillas were amazing, and my taco salad with chicken meat was very delicious and well priced. The steak that my friend ordered was great in flavor, yet very, very fatty. The service was also very attentive, which was a huge improvement from my last visit. The décor is a bit tacky, and it is loud in there, however, I would recommend Mr. Taco in Lockhart. read more
