The best part about this place is the staff. They were all kind and attentive. Food was basic diner food -- no complaints. One of the seats was badly ripped, so that wasn't the best first impression. Iced tea was surprisingly terrible. I'd come again for the veggie skillet though. read more

Stopped here one day for breakfast. Was greeted warmly and seated promptly. The place is huge and very clean and bright. My server was so kind. They have an extensive menu so it took me a while to decide what I wanted but she was very patient. I ordered one of their breakfast specials that had pancakes, eggs, 1 sausage, 1 piece of ham and 1 piece of bacon along with hashbrowns. Awesome portions and the food was delicious. I also ordered one of their speciality coffee drinks to go. I requested it half sweet and it was made perfectly. This is a great place to check out for breakfast or lunch. There was a small issue with my cup not being perfectly clean, like a bit of leftover food from the previous guest. But it wasn't a huge deal. Prices are getting higher every time we come. This morning topped $85 for two kids and two adults. Services is still spotty - if you are there in peak times, things are not only slow, but come out randomly. My advice is go early or very late. The offerings are still delicious - they had Dubai pancakes on a recent stop and the juices are always great. read more

If you're looking for a "American-style" breakfast with huge portions and familiar flavors, this is your place. They have some nice classics with a slight twist. The menu is huge and has something for everyone, expect the downside to this is it's so hard to choose. *Tip- If you're a visual person like me, go to their website, they have a picture of every dish. I was between a skillet and an omelette with the same ingredients and then I just went for the skillet. My bacon avocado skillet was yummy at first and then I got overwhelmed with the massive bacon ratio. I was pleased to see they didn't skimp on the avocado though. I wish my side of potato's were a little more seasoned, crisper, and came out warmer. The side of the pancakes I thought was the star of the show. If I had ordered pancakes, bacon, and eggs that would've been perfect. My boyfriend ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs and he said it was good. He upgraded his pancake side to the S'mores and loved them. For me, they were too sweet but I'm glad he liked them. As for the service, they were friendly, however our drinks came out staggered and it took a while for the food to come out. The overall ambiance was normal Brunch cafe, family-scene (sort of like cuter iHop). There were 2 birthdays celebrated where the staff came out and sang happy birthday and brought out a cupcake with a candle. What a great breakfast and lunch spot! Located at the corner of two busy streets, Mr. Stacks is conveniently located with lots of parking around the restaurant. We came around 10:45am on a Sunday and the place was relatively busy but nothing too crazy. We were sat immediately. The service was great! Jenny was our server and she was the BEST - so attentive, genuine, and personable. She knew the menu off the back of her hands. We adored her. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here. Average pricing was $15 per meal but it comes with a lot. I got the bacon avocado scrambler and subbed onions for mushrooms; you get a choice of a side and then get to pick pancakes or toast. Some of their side choices included diced potatoes, hash browns, fruit, grits, etc (I chose diced potatoes). My meal was absolutely delicious - the scrambler was flavorful, not dry at all, and fluffy. The diced potatoes and toast were super yummy, too. My sister got the very berry French toast which comes stuffed with cheesecake filling and berries. It was delicious. She got chocolate milk and I got this blended juice with oranges, strawberries, and banana. Everything was so tasty. I truly have nothing bad to say about Mr. Stacks. I came here after being up earlier than I like for something that didn't happen (check my review of McGrath City Hyundai, then never go there). In stark contrast to my first stop, Mr Stacks was amazing. My server, Brittany (sp?), was AWESOME! As a frustrated and sleepy person her cheer and demeanor was so uplifting! She was quick to respond to my needs/silly requests, fun to talk with, and sent a general feel of happiness to the morning. I got the banana nut pancakes. They're huge! The were really good! Fluffy pancakes, fresh banana, crunchy nuts. If I could change one thing I would have had more whipped cream. I'm guessing if I'd asked I would have been able to get more whipped cream. And in this world where everything costs too much I was in and out for about $20 with tip. I ate about half of my order and will finish it either for supper or breakfast tomorrow. That's a good value for two meals and the pot of coffee that I drank. read more

2/17/24 : me and the wife came back. Disappointed again. I dont want any free food or coupons or anything. I'd just rather stay away. In fact I'm writing this review from my booth because I have left yet. This time my wife ordered country fried steak without gravy because she doesn't eat pork. It came with gravy. No big deal, we smiled and they said they'll fix it. No biggie. They brought the country fried steak back, flipped over and the gravy scrapped off. My wife didn't want to make any further problems so she just took the breading off and ate the steak. I won't be back here. The lack of respect and communication is too much. The operations team is wonderful but the cook and/or the waitress who tried to deceive us were not professional. If my wife had an allergy something in the gravy she would have gotten sick or went into anaphylactic shock. Please be respectful and just prepare another order. read more

Everything I ordered was a disappointment. I was craving breakfast, decided to try Mr Stacks, which I could have easily went to I-Hop.

Had a hankering for some breakfast , wasn't sure about this place but saw all the positive reviews on yelp so decided to give it a try. The ambiance was nice and clean i know this restaurant is new so hopefully it stays that way. Plenty of seating! The waitress was nice a little rough around the edges lol like a nice rude type of way but she was a little busy. I think there were only 2 waitresses for the restaurant. The menu is packed with a lot of options. I ordered the Chicken and avocado omelette with an english muffin and fruit. Delicious! Filling and the chicken was seasoned lol ... I ended up getting the Parisian Eggs Benedict while my partner got the corned hash and egg combo. Each meal could easily serve two people. Food was fresh and good. Service was kind of slow but it was pretty packed on a Saturday early afternoon. We waited about 15 minutes before being seated and maybe 10-15 minutes for our food to come in. Our server was very professional and checked up on us regularly despite being busy. Def recommend to go on a weekday when it's not as packed. Coffee gets brought to you with a carafe so no pressure on finishing your coffee too quick What stands out the most is the atmosphere of this place!! It is so well lit and I think that it's so important that management is aware of how sweet and interactive this staff is! From the server who seated us, to servers walking past, and our very own server Romelia, everybody just has the best attitude and visibly works well together. I came with my family today to finally try out Stacks in Melrose Park. The place looks very similar to Denny's with just a new paint job, same booths. The staff was very nice and attentive, quick and friendly service. The best thing out of everything I tried were the apple cinnamon pancakes. The homemade cinnamon butter was excellent. The addition of the oats were delicious and the apples were soft and sweet. The pancake itself had a chewy and soft consistency. It was creative, delicious and also came with eggs and bacon. Credits to them for that dish. The Nutella French Toast was a bit on the dry side. The whip cream tasted cheap and store bought. It was average but not below average. The bacon was not crispy at ALL. The hash browns tasted below average, as if they were frozen. They arrived a bit cold to our table. I saw some seasoning on the hash browns, maybe paprika or old bays but it can't beat homemade hash browns. How hard could it be to make fresh hash browns? The burger and fries initially looked good but the fries were not crispy at all, very flimsy and soft. The burger had more lettuce than meat and came out cold. One thing I can say is the bun was nice. The Greek salad looked kind of depressing. It didn't come with any Feta cheese but the waiter quickly brought us some after we let him know. I've never seen a Greek salad look like the one I got. Everything we got came out to $95 for 4 people. If I'm paying more than $20 a person , I don't just want an average breakfast. As a Maywood resident from the area , I love supporting local business but I'm not sure I'll come back to this spot . I found myself in melrose park and was tired of the same ol places on 5th and north ave area. Mr stacks doesn't have a inviting atmosphere, bare bones diner experience, but what they do have is an awesome lunch menu. I had a sandwich and salad and it was bigger and tastier than your Panera menu options. Great deal $ wise and generous portion.
