Had breakfast here. Very good on all accounts! Brittney was our server she was great. I saw her asking each of her customers if they needed anything and gave each of us her attention and service. The food was very good and plentiful. The reason for 4 stars is that we had to wait to sit. There were plenty of open tables. But because of pickup orders, the eat in customers have to wait, so the kitchen can catch up. I highly recommend this place and ask for Brittney to serve you. read more

Very disappointing second trip here. I remember all the problems from my first visit. How do you name a place after pancakes and serve them cold? Also, that was the cheapest syrup I have ever seen. Very watery and runny. The omelet was decent and the highlight of the meal. Still not planning on giving this place a 3rd chance. The coffee was OK, brought out in a carafe and left self serve on the table. This is fine but still tends to lead too poorer service as the staff checks in less. Which can be a pro or con depending on your point of view. Overall the staff was OK. It was not busy and I waited a good 5-10 minutes to get my coffee and no water. There was no busses staff either so it appears the wait staff is doing double duty. I am guessing it's hard to find good staff with mediocre food that is an average price. read more

The food is pretty good the service is fast and the ambiance is like a typical breaks fast place

I went to eat at this place on February 17 with my daughter- I had already been there before and was hoping the service was as good as that prior time but unfortunately it wasn't. We were seated and our order was taken. We sat there- and waited and waited. The waitress came to our table and apologized and said the food was going to take like another 15-20 minutes.. mind you we had been waiting for our food for over 30 minutes already and now we'd have to wait even longer!! She said they were busy taking care of 2 large parties but that our food was next. I was really unhappy because we had just gone to the Chicago Auto Show and we were really hungry by then... sadly I won't be returning anytime soon. A 20 minute wait is reasonable, but not anything longer. read more

This was our first time visiting. Once we entered into the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm hello. Our server was Cecilia S. The nicest person ever. She greeted us with a SMILE. She was very polite and professional. Gave us extra time with the menu, we didn't know what to order, everything on the menu looked good. She suggested my meal, and all I can say she was on point. DELICIOUS . Coffee was actually good too, and hot. Food was delivered hot, and on time. We never had to call her once to our table, Cecilia was there checking on us. We were pleased. We will be returning. So please if you visit, ask for her section. You will not be disappointed read more

This review isn't for food at all! It is about the horrible customer service my 8y.o. and I experienced. On May 7th my son and I went to Stacks for breakfast around 10am. It was crowded as expected but we were placed 3rd on the list and told it would be a 15 to 25min wait. That was ok for us. However that wait became 40 minute wait because the kitchen couldn't keep up with the demand. My son wanted to wait so we waited. After being told the delay was going to be longer the two couples infront of my son and I left. Then I noticed a couple and there daughter whose name was after mine were seated before us. I asked thr host how mych longer and how was it possible a couple and their daughter were seated before my son and I. The host looked me in the eye and said they were before you. I had to smile at the host for that comment. I had to call her on her b.s. and let her know the 2 couples before me left. The family in question were clearly standing in line behind me and I pointed to her name. I told her if the host lies what else are you all doing improperly. My son and I left but true to his nature he asked why. I gave him an explanation there on the spot. He said ok we shouldn't ever come back here. As we left 5 other families left as well. Can't give my money to a place that has poor customer service skills. read more

Food was decent and service was decent. The ambiance isn't the greatest. The that at sat in had torn seats. Don't know expect a 5 star establishment, but definitely worth a visit if you want decent and reasonably priced food. read more

Great food, great staff, great service at a great price. If you're looking for a place with a diner vibe, this is the spot.

Tried this place twice thinking it was a one off that the food was mediocre the first time. Unfortunately that was not the case. I definitely would not return or recommend. Food was bland both times, so I'm completely confused about the overall high score for this place. read more

Place looks decent... but it took literally 1 hour to get our order...service needs definitely improvement. read more

Mr. Stacks - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Melrose Park, Illinois

Good day my Foodzies, today we went to a new restaurant, new to this area that is. Stacks at 8349 w North Ave. in Melrose park. This restaurant is were an old Denny's used to be. It appears that they only painted the walls and put up pictures. The tables, chairs and booths are just as worn as they were when it was Denny's. You can tell they rushed to open because plaster dust can still be seen on the ledges of the short walls and in the bathroom. When we entered we were greeted with a warm welcome. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. Christina our server was exceptionally bubbly and upbeat. Glenda had the breakfast tacos, scrambled eggs with chorizo, onions, tomato, sriracha mayo and Jack cheese. The tacos were flour which is unusual, but I think a good choice. That was served with potatoes even though Glenda asked for fresh fruit. The chorizo was flavorful and had a good heat to it, but it was the sriracha mayo which gave it flavor. The potatoes nothing earth shaking, just fried cubes of potatoes lacking crisp and flavor. I went with the chicken and avocado omelette, An egg-white omelette with all natural chicken, green chiles, tomatoes, onions, jack and cheddar topped with fresh avocado and I had an English muffin. The egg whites were loose and a tad bit watery. You would think with all those ingredients it would be packed with flavor. Unfortunately not it was crying out for seasoning. The sauce that came with it only provided heat. I was a little disappointed. I give this restaurant 2 stars, try it out and let me know what you think. Ciao Ciao for now. read more

My family and I went on Easter Sunday for breakfast, a group of 15 to celebrate my sons birthday as well with breakfast. Our wait at 11 AM was only 10 min wait. Brittney took such amazing care of us, the food was great, we didn't wait long for our food to be served. Brittney made sure to stop by our table to see if we needed anything, we never had to request for her assistance. She made the place feel so warm and comfortable, we will be returning back to Melrose location again and definitely request Brittney as our server. It was clean and very welcoming for being our first visit. read more

The food took a really long time to come out and when it did it was cold and the pancakes weren't even cooked all the way. With a name of "Stacks" you would expect pancakes to be their specialty. All of the other food (eggs, crepes, and hash browns) were bland and had absolutely no flavor. The fruit also tasted old and was mushy. So many other better options nearby, I would not recommend this place. read more

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast this morning. Brittany was our server. She was fantastic. No issues with me wanting changes to my meal. She was quick, polite and friendly. I had the bacon, spinach and mushroom omelette with diced potatoes. Great flavor and cooked just right. Potatoes could have been a bit crisper. I got cheesecake pancakes. Lots of cheesecake bites in it. No need for syrup. My husband got the bacon avocado scramble with hash browns. Perfect size. Great restaurant and we have never had a long wait to be seated. Highly recommend. read more

The food was very good and Brittany H was great, she was friendly and definitely a people person.

Well we like to try new places. We tried Stacks but it is now crossed off our list as we will not go back. My problem was the food, not the cleanliness or service. We were a table of 5. Our server was very good, very attentive. 3 of us got the beef barley soup. There were pieces of beef in the soup but no beef flavor so the broth was obviously made with beef not on the bones or so little beef it could not flavor all the water. Flavorless soup. Three of us got the Ultimate Grilled Cheese. Description: Grilled sourdough, Swiss, Cheddar, bacon, ham and avocado. Two of us ordered without the bacon. However, I am not sure what makes this a grilled cheese. The swiss cheese was laid on one slice of bread and the cheddar on the other slice of bread. It appears it was melted under a salamander. It appears that the bread was on the grill long enough to set the ham on the bread and taken off because it was WHITE. There was one slice of avocado slice on each half. The ice tea was strong and bitter. The housemade potato chips were OK but some were undercooked. They do not salt them which some people will really appreciate and others will miss the salt of potato chips. read more

Food was not great - very average. Could have used more seasoning/flavor. Do not get the iced lattes!! We got the dolce and sticky bun and it was warm and way too much sugar (glorified frappe). Service was good tho she was very sweet and apologetic about the wait. read more

Melrose Park location First time ever at Stacks. Hostess said 30 min wait to be seated.. we waited 15mins. Very busy, cooks were a little overwhelmed with orders, but made up for it with how great the food was. Our waitress was apologetic for the wait and brought our food as soon as it came out. Will definitely go back. read more

The service was better than I have experienced in years. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was flavorful without being too salty. The waffles were the Belgian, large and crisp while being moist. I am not big on restaurants, but I would visit this place again. read more

Never heard of red onions on a patty melt. We asked thinking they may have run out of onions, but no, we were told it's served that way. Red onions are good raw on a salad, not grilled on a patty melt. The Cobb Salad was sub par. Not horrible, but there are better places to eat for sure. read more

Our first time at Stacks in Melrose Park was yesterday, and it certainly won't be our last! The food was great, and there are things on the menu we plan to come back to and try. We had breakfast, so my eggs and bacon were perfect. TONS of hash browns, and wheat toast, already buttered and melting into your bread when it gets to you! My daughter had the Red Velvet cake pancakes, and she said they were to die for! So much food, make sure you come with an empty stomach! The burgers were HUGE as they passed by us, and you will definitely need to cut them in half in order to eat them. Looking forward to trying their avocado burger next time! Everyone that we encountered from the staff were friendly and helpful. Only one con...they need to be open longer! LOL! read more
