Good Chicago eats located in Chicago adjacent west suburban River Grove. Good solid breakfast. The service is friendly and quick by local gals and guys. Neighborhood folks. They turn the tables over quick and it seems they always have a full room on weekends. Decent breakfast and good sized portions. It's a really clean place. They have ample parking which is always a huge plus around here. The decor is what does it here. It's Blondie's and anyone who remembers or has seen the old 50's cartoon knows the scoop. Blondie, Dagwood & the whole gang. They were rough around the edges cartoon characters and Blondies Diner seems to emulate this feel. From the decor and staff personality to the neighborhood patrons it's a straight forward they take no bullsh*t kinda joint. They expect you to be kind and well mannered to staff and patron alike. The grub is good and the menu offerings appropriate for the Chicago diner scene. It's a family feel good kinda place.

We ordered to go and the food was so good. The lady on the phone was also very kind and let us know that to-go would be 40 minutes which wasn't surprising seeing how busy they get so we didn't mind at all. I got the steak skillet and my partner got the meat lovers skillet and we both agreed that this is our new breakfast spot. The meat was tender, the bread was so soft, the hash browns cooked perfectly, the peppers juicy and cooked well. I also appreciated that they put tinfoil in the containers because most breakfast places don't and the food usually ends up melting through the styrofoam so even details like that really show that they have been around and know how to run a food business.

Blondies did not disappoint, great food, outstanding service. I was not sure what to order, so I had the Shut Up and Eat It Breakfast. The cookdetermined what they wanted to make and that is what you got. Great place !

A buddy of mine and I decided to get breakfast for lunch. I have to say I was highly pleased. The quality and amount of food you get for the price is amazing. The ambiance reminded me of diners from the past. So this is a golden gem! The Denver omelette I got was very tasty anyone who orders it won't be disappointed! And the server was so nice and checked in on my friend and I often! Give blondies diner a try!

Great place to dine breakfast. We were for a sunday. It was packed with lots of regular customers. Food choices on the menu had lots of varieties and prices were just right. Would definitely come back.

Inside was pretty empty, we were there on a Thurs night and it seemed like mostly a few other corporate groups and regulars. There's a room with slot machines which I thought was interesting. Quick service, large portions and food came out fast. 4/5 chicken caldo soup - spicy but really flavorful 2/5 wings - dry rub was a bit too dry for their liking 3/5 friend got a salad with poppyseed dressing but didn't end up using the dressing as it had a bit of a strange consistency for her. She said it was okay tho. 3.5/5 ultimate grilled cheese, added a burger patty medium and red onions. The burger was good but cooked more medium well. Waffle fries generous but didn't care much for the ranch. 3.5/5 jambalaya - friends enjoyed it and the serving was large. 4/5 bread pudding was tasty and so was the ice cream. Service was great and it was just what we needed to get us some extra food. Menu was extensive and she indicated all was made fresh. Even with a lot of toppings. The beer was ice cold. The only kinda meh was the appetizer pretzel. The beer cheese was kind of like a liquid nacho cheese with beer mixed into it that made for an off putting texture and the mustard sauce was just Dijon mustard squirted into a cup. Needed to be thinned out a bit. Over all 8.5/10. The pizza made up for the appetizer meh-ness

The margaritas were bland and had table salt just smothered in the rim which made it very unappealing. Then the chips and guacamole turned me off from ordering anything else. The guac was either out of a tube or box I had a little bit and it tasted awful and as it sat in the bar top it just turned brown like green after 20 minutes. Service was decent but there was only one table occupied on a Sunday lunchtime which should have been a giveaway. The food that came out for another table looked decent but after the guac I only imagined the rest of the food was probably frozen or boxed items and didnt want to spend any more money there.

This is an old-fashioned mom-and-pop diner serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was simple, homemade-style comfort food, and everything we had was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. I almost passed on trying this place because I saw a review mentioning rude staff and racist comments, but I'm really glad I gave them a chance. The majority of the kitchen staff was Hispanic, and one of the servers was as well, so I highly doubt those comments are accurate. The staff may be a little more mature/old-school, but they were absolutely not rude. BTW, my husband is Mexican, and everyone was very kind and polite to us. If you appreciate a full cup of coffee (they actually come around and top it off often!) and good, simple diner food, give them a try. Nice to see places like this still exist!

Throughout my meal, my cup stayed full and the gentlemen waking around was super friendly without being overbearing. I sat for quite a while until the rain stopped. I never felt rushed. For a spur of the moment stop, I was impressed with this place. Thank you for feeding me and keeping me dry!

A short fuse and a close call…read more After Emily and I checked in to our hotel room, we wanted to stretch our legs and see if there was anything nearby for some beer and some food. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them.
