I like the Local, good food, nice people working there but the music is way too loud. The music is so Loud that people have to yell at each other and there sitting next to each other just to hear each other. After leaving my ears are still ringing. Does anyone go to a restaurant bar to listen to loud European disco music or are they there to socialize and talk. More people were talking than listening to the noise. Several people walked out when the noise was turned up. As a business owner myself if my customers walked out because of Loud music. I'd lower than music instead of losing customers. read more

Well. I am super disappointed to be writing this review. I am a regular. I come on Fridays with a group of teachers and I also come on most Tuesday evenings. On Fridays we get great service and our usual server (Biata?spelling) is awesome. On Tuesdays we (my husband and I) usually have Bascia as our server. She regularly prioritizes her male customers, which I get- that's where the tips roll in. Sometimes when it's slower she is very attentive and friendly. A few weeks ago my husband and I went with another couple. We got a decent amount of drinks and we ordered cheese fries. We paid separately. Our check came back and it was around 65.00. My husband paid with his debit card. We filled out the tip and total and left . Fast forward, last night, we walked in and I went straight to the bathroom, leaving my husband at the bar. When I came out he was talking with Bascia and I could tell it was a heated conversation. It turns out that the last time we were there the check had printed with the sub total as 65.00 and the total only rang up as 2 cents. We did not notice that and admittedly my husband usually does not take the receipt when we leave a restaurant/store/bar, etc . She flat out told my husband that he paid with a fake card. She accused him of not having money and talked about how she was in trouble with her boss because we basically pretended to pay and left. We tried to pay her with his card and she gave him a hard time. After some time and convincing she took his card to pay the bill.After she spent about 10 mins yelling at us on and off about how it wasn't her mistake it was our fault etc we decided to leave. After leaving my husband checked his bank account just to see how much money he had at the time of the transaction and there was over $800, in his account. The bottom line is that this bar tender made a mistake and charged only 2 cents on the bill and then placed blame on us , treating us like criminals. I have spent probably thousands of dollars there over the years and I was not given then benefit of a doubt with an honest mistake. It was despicable treatment and it was really disappointing. I don't think I will ever step foot in local tavern again. It's a shame because we were very loyal regular customers. read more

Terrible. Very disappointed. I had heard good things and thought I would try it. Small Sunday afternoon crowd, but no acknowledgment when I walked in, even though I waved to the bartender. Sat at a table for ten minutes with no one even looking my way. Moved to the bar and the bartender was more concerned with the inventory in the coolers than even asking if I would like a drink. I walked out after twenty minutes of being ignored. I would never recommend this local business to my neighbors. read more

Found this place by happenstance while attending a convention in Rosemont. What a great find! I will go here every time I am back at that convention center! Great, truly LOCAL spot, with great TVs showing sports, great service, and GREAT Polish food! (The wings are very good as well). But let's focus on the Polish food, awesome! You can tell it is cooked to order. The pierogi was a great new food for me, the potato pancakes and cabbage were great as expected. While we were there we watched the National Polish basketball team win a big game and the locals made us feel at home as we cheered them on. See you guys next time! read more

This is my kind of neighborhood place. The food is always consistent and very good. It's typical bar food with a little twist. There's traditional polish food and American food as well as some Mexican favorites. The bartenders are always attentive, especially Basha. If you're into bourbon this is your place. Not a spot you would expect to find really good food but Local Tavern has just that. It is what it says it is a local family run neighborhood tavern catering to the neighborhood folks. The decor is nice for a tavern, very modern and spacious. The clientele is the standard northwest side deez, dem and doze Chicago guys. Now I can't knock these fellas because I'm one of them. It's just a description for a cool little true blue Chicago spot filled with cops, city workers and working guys and maybe a coupla bookies. My uncle and I ran into a bunch of guys he grew up with who are transplants from the west side so we fit right in. Other than the owner and bartender I didn't see any women. I didn't try the libations but it looked pretty straight forward beer and a shot with the occasional mixer. What I am impressed by is the menu options and quality of food. Generally speaking menus build up the offerings and often times don't deliver on it. Now here, it's just the opposite. They had a good menu and its descriptions were straight forward as well but the food far exceeded what I expected. I've been here three times now, for breakfast and twice lunch. The menu choices are good with several Polish dishes a few Mexican dishes and standard American fare but the quality and presentation are excellent! It's kind of like your at your aunts house and she doesn't need to sell you with her cooking because you know when it hits the table you aren't leaving disappointed. That is Local Tavern. You just don't exactly expect the quality and service from a neighborhood tavern but it looks as though these folks are upping the ante on the local neighborhood tavern. Successfully so! read more

Authentic home style food. Strong drinks. They even have slots! This place is a must visit every time I come up to Chicago. The staff is always on top of their game. The vibe is always comforting. Went here for a family birthday. I live in a neighboring suburb and like to support local busines instead of the chains bythe airport. Arrived about 9pm so we did not eat and this is not a review of their food. My husband had Miller lite ,all they had for cider was angry orchard, so i had a mixed drink instead. It was fine. What was not fine was the twerking from the bartenders. It was a little ghetto. Just not a place for couple or women to feel safe or welcome. What a great find!! Highly recommend. I will start with the place. Newly remodeled and did a great job. Plenty of bar space, slot machines and tons of liquor to choose from! Tons of friendly normal patrons.....I think I sat next to Norm! The food: great polish food and who would think awesome Mexican tacos!! Get the fish or steak! Just left this place on a Friday around 9pm ish. Wanted a quick bite with the gf and a drink before she went out. Bar looks cool, food was good but SERVICE SUCKED. Initially service was good. Our bartender was Basia and she took our order and drinks promptly. Got an app and two entrees. All the food came out at once and to Basias credit she asked us if we needed anything and got my gf and extra side and apologized all the food came out at once . After that she was nowhere to be seen. Our drinks were empty and we had to finish dinner without getting a refill. Except the two times we saw her walking around the bar eating a breaded chicken drumstick. The other two bartenders a blonde and redhead seemed to be walking around helping their customers but didn't ask us if we were alright and they were on their cell phones several times. I finally had enough because I had to eat most of my dinner without having a drink and asked the redhead for a box and our check at which point I noticed Basia sitting directly to my left sitting at the bar talking to some guy. She must have seen that I saw her and then ran up asking if we wanted another drink as the redhead gave us our bill and box. I hate to be this dude that complains because I worked in the industry and I get it. But this girl wasn't busy where she couldn't get to us because she was just bullshitting. I hate going out and wasting my money on a bad experience. I also hate the fact that I have to write something like this because this is a Polish rub business and I am Polish, worked in restaurants so I understand using your phone needing to eat etc but customers come first. What a fabulous time we had last night! If you're looking for a great place to host a party (40th Surprise Birthday Party) this is it!!! From the moment we arrived until we walked out the door, we were treated like Royalty. Seriously. Andy, the owner, helped hang decorations, set up the tables and constantly checked to be sure everyone was having a great time. A shout-out to Melissa, who waited on our entire party with smiles and fantastic service! You amazed us all. In addition, the staff helped sing Happy Birthday and cut/served the cake! The food was awesome. I had a house salad with chicken that was so good I want to go back today and have that again!!! Andy, if the ratings allowed it I'd give you 10 stars. Went in today for some dinner and a beer. We were very impressed by the remodel and the new food options. I'm a very picky eater growing up in the Restaurant business, and I have to say the food was amazing. We had the polish plate and the tacos. Everything was fresh and very tasty.
