A nice restaurant with a good variety of traditional American meals. Breakfasts and brunches are the best!

Disclaimers: - No…read morethe inside isn't the biggest. I was a bit hesitant about that before going as well. - Yes it's really only a burger joint. They have different appetizers and things but not a super extensive menu Do not let these things deter you tho. They're just facts. This place was pretty delicious. Mac n cheese was (I think) the best I've had from a restaurant in a while. I love the type of fries that they pair with the burgers, they were fresh & not too salty. Our burgers were also very good. Apparently they have a new burger/dessert of the week each week so those items do change. They looked like they'd have good drinks too, I'd definitely come back to try. It can be a bummer that it's not a place where you can eat, drink, then hangout a bit so don't expect to be allowed to sit for too long. Service was also very nice

The burgers themselves are top-notch, great blend, cooked perfectly, and packed with flavor. The drinks are also excellent, with a solid variety to pair with whatever you order. The staff is always friendly and attentive, which just adds to the experience. It's a place that clearly puts thought and creativity into everything they do, and it shows.

Upon entering it was decent, clean, decor was sub par not the best. No menu listed but a monitor showing digital pics of dishes. The owner took my order; she was nice, friendly. It seemed like they were a bit over each other in the kitchen or with orders. I waited about 30 minutes but after inspecting bag they forgot to include the side of spaghetti and yams which were pretty small for $7 each. No music playing but in the next room they had a football game playing on tv. I ordered the fried chicken dinner for me with mac + cheese and cabbage. The chicken and mac + cheese were decent but cabbage was a bit dry, unflavorful. I also ordered the meatloaf for my other half with mac & cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. He said it was good. The spaghetti was good but the container was cracked and leaked in the bag. Yams were average, u can bypass them. Overall experience was decent but not superb. At least I patronize them.

We were told that we needed to be seated for service, however the water and tea were not on the table. The beverages were set up across the room on the bar. This caused confusion because we could not get drinks with the meal if we did not leave our seat. As mentioned before, we were supposed to be served plates at our tables. The staff was informed that some people did not receive their food. Instead of immediately remedying the situation, they stopped serving us and placed the food on the bar then told us to come get it. I would not recommend this establishment for any events as they struggle with organization, communication and customer service. But worst of all, they refuse to make the customer whole when it is the establishment that fell short.

I read one review that said the place was dark and gloomy. That is not the case at all. The food is outstanding. I had the crispy stuffed chicken. I've had this same meal (although it wasn't crispy) at 5 or so other local restaurants over the years and Mattone's was the best hands down. I tried my friend's meal, Rigatoni Contadina, and it was excellent as well. I just went here last night and I've already told a couple of friends about this place. I'll certainly be visiting again.

Mattone has a pretty standard menu of Italian food like spaghetti. A lot of the familiar. The flavors may not be as good as they used to be so just know that and it will seem like better quality. Certainly the happy hour is the best time to come. It's expensive already so save a few bucks and it makes things quite an improvement. There's a lot of what to expect on the menu. Cocktails and pasta of course. They took forever taking everyone's order and then there was even more waiting. It's about $12 for the cheapest cocktails. They have a few bucks off martinis at the happy hour thankfully. A serious lack of vegetarian choices. There's even salads covered in bacon and pancetta. Has a few weekly specials to check out. It's $20 for the classics specials on Thursdays. Among the options are lasagna and spaghetti. This also comes with a choice of soup so you get lots with this. Actually a pretty filling meal. They can make the spaghetti without meatballs and stuff. Got to say it gets busy. It's only open in evenings. There's limited options for vegetarians.

Its 4.9-star rating out of 20 ratings was the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience. Looking through the menu at Chickies, I was interested in the Cheese Ravioli, Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce, Hand-Cut French Fries, and Jumbo Pizza Slice with a drink. I must say that I was surprised to see so many Italian items on the menu at Chickies because I always pictured it as a burger restaurant. I ended up ordering their Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce because it was the one thing my taste buds desired at the time--other than a slice of pizza, which I can honestly eat every day and not get bored of. I love ordering online for the convenience and the ability to schedule a pickup time. Most of the time, my orders are ready--or nearly ready--upon arrival. By the time I reached the restaurant, my order was being finished behind the counter. While waiting for my order, I just could not resist ordering a cherry milkshake--a rare item for me to see on a menu--while browsing through the menu to kill time. I joked with the employee that it is an item that will surely lure me back to Chickies. Because of this smooth experience, the likelihood of me ordering online from this location again is very high. "Mmmm... That is good!" was my first response after taking a sip of the cherry milkshake, which tasted exactly as it sounds. I had quite a few sips before even driving out of the parking lot at Chickies. It was so good that my mouth watered between sips, and I failed to take any pictures of it--which you will have to forgive me for. I was very pleased with the size of the Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce. It was beautifully presented and tasted delicious! Each bite offered a perfect blend of savory eggplant and rich red sauce, so I wasted no time finishing it. If you are staring at the Chickies menu and cannot decide what to get, look no further than the Eggplant Parmigiana with Mozzarella & Red Sauce--it will leave you feeling thoroughly satisfied. Being that I had a great ordering experience, I would surely order from The Original Chickies again whether it be Uber Eats delivery or takeout whenever visiting the area. They always have a crowd and that's expected because there's not many other great places besides this. A lot of beers to choose from. There's a pretty great variety and they always rotate. Beers are the main thing of course. It's got a pretty surprising amount to choose from. There's a lot of these on tap. More in cans. Pretty great variety. A lot are IPAs but there's a few others. It's about $8 a pint. Kind of a lot but they make smaller batches of these. Best one we had of these was the Hazy In The Name Of. This is a New England Hazy IPA, a classic style. Made with citrone and nectaron hops. There's notes of citrus, lime, passionfruit, and peach. Has a few things to munch on. It's about $7 for the Knotty Pretzels. Comes in a big bag. These are a great combination and big enough for sharing. For sure there's lots of great beers. It's actually open daily which is especially rare for a brewery to be honest. They sometimes have food trucks.

While I'd liked the beers I'd been able to try in the past, it was nice to see their taproom. It's basically 2 halves, with the bar on one side, then a more cozy area with lounge chairs and tables and high tops on the other. There are TVs on both sides, so you'll be able to watch whatever game is on no matter which side you sit. It was also nice to see they had the Chicago Sports Network channel, the new channel for Bulls/Sox/Hawks games, as a lot of places/people don't have it. They had quite a big tap list, I tried 4 throughout the night-2 week vacation, Gold as Hell, Movies on Mars, Black Eclipse. All good, the first 2 were definitely my favorites. They sell a few snack items, or you can bring food in. Bartender seemed like a really cool guy. No real street parking, but there's a big shared lot in back with plenty of space. Very glad I finally made the trip out here, and would happily come back when there's some new beers on tap.
