Excellent place. Definitely coming back. On Friday night we visited here at 8pm. No staff spoke English, so it was Google Translator App and my 2 year of forgotten high school English. There's different pricing for men, women and children. There is some special pricing after 8pm, but I don't think that applied to Friday night, but it was still about $18USD per man so this was a cheap eat compared to LA. They measured my younger one and he was short enough that he ate free. We were seated after about 10 minutes of wait. We've been to AYCE Brazilian BBQ before so my son noticed a rotating card of green and red and knew what to do. First time in Tijunana in a long time and first time we stayed out of the tourist area. They charge for bottles of water, so I noticed that most of the tables were ordering a pitcher of orange juice/aide thing to share with table. I'm trying to be good, so I ordered bottled water (20 peso if I remember correctly) and juices for kids. There's a great choice of food at salad bar, including 5-6 different leafy salad, salsas, chips, potato/macaroni mayo types of salad, cheese bread, etc. Only disappointment for my son was no white rice. There was wild rice type thing which he didn't want to try. Things at the salad station were tasty and went very well with the meat. Each time a server came to the table, they would say the name of the meat, which I only understood only some but you can tell what they are by looking at it. I think I may have tried beef tongue unknowingly. Everything was delicious and good quality meat. There were many different cuts of steaks, beef ribs like Korean BBQ looking ones, lamb (I think), different types of sausages, chicken, shrimp, octopus, chunks of beef, and more. Waiters were very good about going around to each table. I can't believe I ate this good of a food for $18USD and less for my wife and kids.
Parking can get bit tight, although we stayed next door at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, so we walked over. Restaurant was a party environment with everyone jovially talking, loud, festive. It can seem bit hectic, compared to restaurants in US. But everyone was having fun. A lot of people on other tables were speaking English so I wonder if they're all visiting as well.
There is a kids room with toys for young ones on first floor with video games for bigger kids on 2nd floor. There were 1-2 attendants that were overseeing the room and they did not allow adults in. Kids ate and left to play while me and my wife enjoyed. Eventually toward end of our meal, our waiter came and asked if we needed anything else.. I think he brought another waiter who sort of spoke English. We were stuffed so we paid our bill with credit card. They'll bring a machine that you can add tip right away instead of US style where you give the credit card, it disappears, comes back, you have to add the tip and it gets added later. Tip is customary and with the experience we tipped the kids room attendants (there's a small box outside the door) and our servers.
I had a great time and great food for fraction of what I would've spend in LA. In comparison AYCE Brazilian BBQ dinner will cost 50-60USD. I enjoyed Mr. Pampas well above Fogo De Chao in terms of taste and well pairing of the salad bar to meat. It comes close 2nd to M-Grill but considering the price...well M Grill lunch is like $30, Mr. Pampas is $18 but 3 hours away...so jury's still out.
Definitely try this smaller chorizo. It's like size of your pinky but about twice as long. read more
