Super friendly staff, unique and interesting flavors (lime Rickey, Margarita, tutti fruity). But the frozen lemonade wasn't my favorite. It's a very nice soft ice, maybe more like a slushy. I didn't like the flavor and level of sweetness. Very sweet, not tart enough, especially the lemon. Tasted more like candy. If you like that sort of thing, you'll love it. So I don't have the knowledge to compare Mr. Lemon to other frozen lemonade places in town, but it's darn good nonetheless. I ran into it by chance coming through the neighborhood after finishing up work while visiting Providence, and I'm glad I did. In a few words, it's delicious, ice cold, and smooth. I had the watermelon flavor, which was excellent, so I'm not sure about the classic lemon flavor but I'm sure it's excellent as well. The guy working at the time I stopped (not sure if he was the owner or what) was pleasant and friendly, which I didn't find to be the norm for people in the area (?!), and I was glad to see a local business thriving. Surprisingly given the business name, the lemon flavor was just ok; the apple and watermelon flavors were much better! Tasty slushy-like crushed ice with flavor syrups, served so cold that the cup immediately begins to sweat? Sign me up! The texture was so smooth, so easy to eat! I love the way the ice melts ad you eat and you're left with a perfect mouthful of syrup & flavored ice. I think - while there's room here for both institutions - Del's still has the edge with my tastebuds, because of their tart pieces of lemon rind. No real fruit flavorings here. Still, the flavor options at Mr Lemon are superior since there's an actual choice. Customer service is so friendly too! It was busy when we came, but no line since things moved fast. As with Del's, remember to turn your cup periodically to avoid ending up with a solid lump of ice in the middle, and finish your serving before driving away or the separation of the juice/syrup from the hardening ice changes everything, and not for the better. We've been coming here for years. My son is anaphylactic to peanuts and treenuts and has always safely enjoyed Mr. Lemon until today. We picked up him and his friends to buy them slushes but today they offered an almond flavor. This would have been fine if they used safe practices to prevent cross contamination of other flavors but they don't. This makes all flavors unsafe for kids with treenut allergies. It's very disappointing and a tragedy waiting to happen. I asked when almond will be gone and they weren't sure. We bought some for ourselves and his friends and headed to Dels for a safe treat. Overall it's a great place and owners are very nice but clearly they don't have family with food allergies or would be more considerate. Almond flavor is labeled for allergen but they failed to write that other flavors are cross contaminated. No big deal to some but life or death to a kid with an allergy who mistakenly gets another flavor assuming it is safe. read more

This place has been around for as long as I can remember.... My dad will tell you think same thing. It's a small unassuming Building so you may miss it when you drive by .... Do yourself a favor and slow down so you don't ! It's a family owned placed and the continue to use the same family recipe. They have the usual flavors but offer other daily. This place immediately made me love it more than Del's just based on the friendliness of the guy behind the counter. He immediately asked how I was, talked about the weather and cracked a few jokes. Before I even tried my frozen lemonade, I thought, I love this place! Now with that said, the frozen lemonade here isn't like Dels. Dels is white ice with bits of lemon. This is very, very fine flavored ice. They have flavors like Pina Colada, Tutti Fritti, Banana Cream and Vanilla Watermelon. They don't sell food, just drinks, but a (huge) small is just two bucks! I thought my frozen lemonade was great and I'll definitely be back. Oooo. Quickly a big fan! When you arrive in Rhode Island, people will tell you there is but one ice lemonade stand and that is Del's. I'd beg to differ. In fact, here in Rhode Island there is but 2 places: Del's and Mr. Lemon. Each different in what they serve, each distinguishing themselves from the other. Mr. Lemon is located in a residential area in Providence. Doesn't look like much from the outside but you really can't miss it with the giant painted lemon on the outside holding a stop sign. They're open every day and generally has a line of people by the window but today there was no one. Initially we were concerned that we came upon a day when they closed randomly in the afternoon. Luckily we feared not and saw that they were in fact open. This cash only establishment has 3 size cups for you to choose from. While many on Facebook will tell you they come for the large, I was very satisfied with the smallest cup there ($3). They have a variety of flavors/colors. While Del's is on the less sweet and intense side, this is the opposite. You have rich colors and flavors and the real tang of the lemonade which I crave. They have flavors like "Tutti Fruitti", blueberry lemonade and many others. The flavors change daily and the customer service is awesome. Parking on the street is free and most people just park turn on their "park anywhere" lights (hazard lights) and then take off. read more

Here is a breakdown: Mr.Lemon's ice is finely crushed, so the beverage is like a slush feeling. Truly is great to enjoy on a fine summer day because of its consistency. The flavoring isn't that great though. It seems like Mr. Lemon crushed the ice and just added artificial flavoring to the ice. Not of big fan of artificial flavoring. It is pretty cool that you can mix the flavors though! Del's, on the other hand, has crushed ice that isn't as fine as Mr.Lemon, but in Del's you can actually taste the Lemon! I could go to Mr. Lemon everyday. I did not think I was going to like them better than I like Del's, but I did. Our first trip there, I fell in love with the lemon flavor. My husband got the watermelon and that was delicious and sweet. The kids got a blueberry and watermelon mix and also vanilla. My son loved the blueberry watermelon mix, but pay attention to the board because the flavors change. The friendliness of the owners is something we don't see too often anymore. If sunshine, happiness, and delight were frozen and served in a cup, you would have Mr. Lemon. On a hot day, this beverage can't be beat. On a cold day, I go anyway because it's still awesome. I'm a purist, so I usually get the standard lemonade, but there isn't a bad choice if you want to try another flavor. The consistency is so smooth, infinitely preferable to competitor Del's. Taste is far superior as well. As the previous reviews state, the staff running Mr Lemon are just great people. They don't know me from a hole in the wall, but every time I'm there, I'm treated like royalty. The owner certainly knows how to earn repeat business. Two minor complaints: a.) Unfortunately there is only one location but if you can make it there be prepared to be blown away. This is the king of lemonade and dels or anything off of an ice cream truck is far inferior. Over the years the price per cup has increased dramatically. I paid 4.00 for a medium this week and am pretty sure that's 50 cents more than last summer. The prices I think are a bit much. Your making flavored ice with Dixie cups, what can your costs really be ? Located in the ghetto of providence, what kid has $3 for a lemonade? When you ask for a small they immediately show you the size of the cup and say "this is a small is that ok". I get it, your trying to up sale, but cmon, $3 after a $1 tiny Dixie cup. I am a true, blue Rhode Islander and sorry my friends Del's is better than Mr. Lemon. However guys, Mr. Lemon is one heck of a sweet little shack. The flavors are definitely unique, however guys the flavor is very sugary/syrupy. Rita's and Del's have better flavors, richer and more like the fruit (since they make it with natural flavors). Mr. Lemon gets big points for service. They are very nice and upbeat. As others have said, parking can be a bit of an issue, but on a nice summer day it is nice to support a local spot. read more
