But then I discovered this little gem! This is a smaller market, but I find this to be less overwhelming then the larger ones. There were a lot of farms I was unfamiliar with and they were all very friendly and had plenty of variety to choose from. The prices here are in most cases almost 50% cheaper then what I've seen at Hope St. We walked away with some delicious and sweet corn that was only 35¢ an ear, patty pan squash for 50¢ each, pint of cherry tomatoes for $1.50 . . . you get the idea. We had a fantastic dinner when we got home! So mad at myself for not finding this market sooner, it will certainly make it's way into my weekly shopping routine.

I have a funny little update for anyone who is interested:…read more In August, I bought a monstera deliciosa in a grower pot from Urban Greens for ~$16. I was siked with my purchase as it was. A healthy monstera (no bugs, no root rot, no distress, no disease) for under $20 is always a win in my book. Then I realized that there were probably at least a few individual plants within this one grower pot. I'm a green thumb but I'm also a very busy green thumb, so it took me an embarrassingly long time to get the proper soil for this project. I finally tackled the task of separating & repotting this plant this past weekend. You know those scarves that clowns pull out of questionable places that just keep going & going & going & going & going? & that's the whole bit? Well that was me with separating this monstera. I was the clown & the monstera was the scarf. Any guesses as to how many viable separate plants I divided the original into? My guess (prior to tackling this task) was ~8. The verdict: 20. That's right. I just kept separating more & more & more plants off of the original mama monstera until I had a comical pile of little lads in front of me. So anyways, now everyone I know is getting a baby monstera as a gift from me for any occasion for the next foreseeable future. I have 5 monsteras in pots & another army of monsteras propagating in water. Talk about bang for my buck. $16 for one monstera was already exciting but $16 for 20 monsteras? Unbelievable. Thanks, Urban Greens Market, for my army of monsteras!

I probably would have purchased my food here instead had I known their selection of prepared foods looked much better than my previous stop at another store. I stopped in mainly to buy the imported buffalo mozzarella where they seem to be the only place who imports it from Italy. It did not disappoint. You really haven't experienced authentic mozzarella until you've had the real deal made from actual water buffalo milk. The personalized service at this establishment is wonderful. It is family owned and operated, and they are truly a class act and treat their customers so kindly. Their cheese selection is also very expansive and they also sell many cookware items imported from Italy. I can't say enough good things about this little store with a big personality. Please stop by if you are visiting Federal Hill!

The hot and cold deli counters offer a wide variety of Italian options - everything looked delicious! I opted for a prosciutto, mozzarella, and fresh basil sandwich on focaccia. The saltiness of the prosciutto with the creaminess of the mozzarella was perfectly balanced. And the whole fresh basil leaves just enhanced the flavors. Don't forget to check out the small dessert case by the register! The pistachio cheesecake with ricotta was worth the trip! Again cannot recommend this store enough, you will not be disappointed!

However, my husband is a huge nerd and anime happens to be one of his afflictions and there was a mural on the side of a wall that he wanted to take a picture at. I fell in love with Japanese stuff when I was a child and this place is a wonderland of food and items. I was actually kind of jealous because I haven't even been able to find some of the fun stuff that I wanted to try from social media in Las Vegas (and we have a lot of Japanese stores in Las Vegas). The shelves are lined quite nicely and the person working was pretty nice. Overall, I'd come in quite a bit if I lived in this neighborhood.
