Let me give you an example - Lou met me at house in Englewood for an estimate on several electrical problems that needed to be fixed. His examination was very thorough and also quite efficient. He took less time than I expected and he found other problems that needed to be addressed. By the way, getting the written estimate didn't take days either which is a very big plus. He's also considerate. When a contractor says he'll be there at, for example, 9 am what usually happens? You wait and wait and wait. Not with Lou. He comes on time and if he is running late, he calls to apologize and tell you how late he'll be. The truth is that contractors budget time for a job and sometimes when they get there discover it needs more time. So they can get delayed. Lou doesn't leave you hanging in the wind - he calls to say he's sorry and this is now when he'll be to you. He appreciates your business and doesn't abuse your time. Isn't this great? So Lou Zimick gets a As Good As It Gets from me for being a terrific electrician with excellent customer service.

If I was told the cost of the parts needed upfront in the initial estimate, I would have supplied them myself. Yet when I suggested supplying parts myself they refused to do more work. We found KB Electric online and decided to give them a try. The phone was answered immediately by Alicia who was so helpful, listened to what we needed done and set up an appointment for us immediately, which we were so grateful for. The electric wire going into the house was hanging very low and we realized the attachment on the house (for lack of a better explanation) was hanging off the house. Alicia asked us to send photos and I did with a comment" didn't realize how bad it was". Her response was "I've seen worse" so right off the bat she made me feel better. She asked if we wanted her to send someone to give us a quote, but we didn't want to waste time on that so said no. She quoted us how much it would be per hour (+ materials) and we were very happy with the final price (we felt very reasonable). The 2 electricians were here at 8:30 on a day when it was below 20 degrees!! They did a great job and were in/out in a little over an hour. He advised me that he needed to install emergency disconnect which he didn't tell me and he wanted additional $400. He told me its the code requirement. I agreed. He replaced the electrical panel and installed the emergency disconnect. He gave the Certificate of Insurance for Mr. Ray Mechanical LLC. However, I found out the electric permit was issued to a different company. He work failed inspection because the emergency disconnect was not needed. He misunderstood the code. The town's inspector had to write down the code for him. Then, he had to add main breaker to the panel. I refused to pay the $400 which was for the unnecessary emergency disconnect. I had to spend two more half days to facilitate the revision of the panel work and coordinate town's re-inspection. Ramon, the owner of Mr. Ray Mechanical insists he has electrical license. He does not. Anyone wants to hire him to do electrical or any home improvement project should ask him to show his license.
