We contacted this business to inspect and prepare our fireplaces for the season last year since we had just purchased our home, and fix the gas fireplace in the bedroom. They were nice enough when they came and were supposed to come back to continue services that required parts they had to order, plus clean our dryer vents. The fireplace in need was in a home built in the early 90s, and it had only been used a few times back in the day. Mr. Chimney was available that same day, which was great, as I had a list of things to get done at the house. We discussed fees, and there was a charge for inspection, and another if cleaning was needed. I agreed, as the prices were equal to, or less than, quotes other friends had paid for their own chimneys. He arrived with his brother, who works with him, and they were professional, kind, and expedient. They inspected the fireplace and gave it a thumbs up, and they said it did not need cleaning. They also offered free advice on some of the roofing, as well as my installation of some cables that were near the chimney exterior on the roof. We bought a house this May and had Mr Chimney Guy, Jay, come to clean the chimney and fireplace, uncap the gas line for our fireplace, and install our new gas insert and logs. Jay provided excellent service right from the initial phone call by guiding me through how to properly measure my fireplace box so that I ordered the correct size insert and logs. The previous owner of my house burned wood logs in our gas fireplace, so the flue and box needed some serious cleaning. By the amount of soot that was cleaned, Jay guessed it had never been done before (our house is 18 years old). He and his son worked very efficiently and did a beautiful job cleaning and also installing the new gas insert. I am very happy! While he was here, I asked him to look at a gas fire feature out by our BBQ, as I couldn't get the feature to light. He and his son were out there for a bit trouble shooting and discovered the gas line was clogged (I needed to have a plumber come snake it). They were out there for a bit trying to see if there was anything they could do to get it cleared out for me when his son reported smelling gas under the BBQ despite the fire feature being turned off. Using their gas detector, they discovered an actual gas leak in the concrete under my BBQ! The gas was accumulating in the cabinet space under the BBQ; had they not detected it and I had gone to use the BBQ, I could have been very seriously injured (or worse!). Terrifying. Jay immediately shut off my gas line and had me call the gas company. I feel like other people might have noticed the clog and walked away from it, but Jay and his son, providing excellent thorough service, took extra time to try to fix my fire feature, which ultimately might have kept me from, well, blowing myself up. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THEM! I would 100% hire them again, and will absolutely have them back next time my chimney needs to be cleaned or serviced. Mr Chimney Guy is wonderful! read more
