    Fried Chicken Wings
    Steph W.

I've had the best catfish here so far out of all of the places I have tried in Austin. It's well seasoned and fried well. Crispy and flavorful. The few times I have been here, it's been a decent crowd. Lively type of environment. As far as service, there have been times it was a longer wait, but I was well informed and made the choice whether to wait or not. I can tell this is a spot frequented by locals. It was family stopping in and randomly running into each other. Lots of people who were very familiar and seemed like they come here often. I liked that vibe. I usually go for the catfish, but I had chicken wings this time and they were good too. Fried well, and seasoned.

If you love fried food and catfish, you'll love Mr. Catfish. This spot is a true Eastside hidden gem. The fried catfish, shrimp, chicken, gizzards, and more are always hot, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The sides are Southern classics done right: collard greens, potato salad, fried okra, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and more. No good fish fry is complete without sweet tea, lemonade, or Kool-Aid, and yes, they've got all three. Don't skip a slice of cake for dessert. (if you still have room. I always end up taking home leftovers.) The vibe is casual, the food is made to order, and the staff have the patience of Job as you narrow down what to get (it's not easy to choose). Insider tips: They're closed on Tuesdays and shut down early on Sundays. (Plan accordingly) Mix hot sauce into your tartar sauce for a real kick. The food is made fresh, so order ahead or plan to wait. The parking lot gets crowded, so drive carefully. They've got a full bar and sometimes live music, so check their fliers or website for special events. If you haven't tried Mr. Catfish, can you really say you live on the Eastside?

My Bestie and I decided to go outside for Martin Luther King Day and we definitely wanted to grab some food at Houston Tillison where they have their annual festival with lots of culture live music and diversity. We waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes to get to the front and order, but the food was fresh when it came out. Tasty crispy and steaming hot along with the courtesy and kindness of the staff. I appreciate being able to go to a outside event where I can also purchase food from a local business that I can later go to their brick-and-mortar if needed. Thanks for a great experience and happy MLK day.

Simple, unpretentious restaurant with delicious fried seafood. All the sides are good too. Sauces and salad dressings are from packets.

Love this place. The gizzards are parboiled for flavor but not too much. They've still got lots of chaw left in them.

3 catfish filets, 3 shrimp, small gumbo, red beans and rice, and collard greens.

Arrived around 2:00pm on a Saturday and food came out in like 7 minutes. Didn't skimp on spices and butter. Plenty of to fill two people up for lunch and leave the room to be able to try things either within the same food truck lot or somewhere else. We elected to grab coffee else where. The guy working was super friendly and helpful. Even took the trash bag to throw away the shells for us. We didn't ask but the one critique is to include crackers apart of the orders or simply pre crack the claws before you hand out the bag. Got creative with breaking the harder shells. Other than that, food was great, will be back if we come back to Austin.

The man cooking is incredibly sweet and came in clutch when I forgot to order seasoning. I was visiting from a region known for crab/seafood boils and was not disappointed! Crab tends to turn to shreds when it's overboiled, and I was EASILY pulling out nice, intact pieces from the shell, so no worries about that here. If you're in the area, definitely approach the truck even if it looks closed--worth it to double check!

The tropical margarita is refreshing and deceptively strong! The seafood platter felt like a splurge for me since I'm not a huge fan of raw oysters and found that I much prefer baked oysters. The fish dip that it came with was good with their packaged buttery crackers, but it also paired nicely with their homemade tortilla chips. I love their house made sauces! They were the right amount of spicy and not too tangy. I liked mixing the green sauce with the orange sauce too. The cevichite was limey and fresh. Loved it with the tortillas and the pieces of avocado. I really enjoyed the crispy battered fish taco that came with thinly cut slaw. The wagyu taco was even better- it melted in my mouth! Probably our favorite item of the night and if we could change our order- it would be just ordering a bunch of those two tacos. The servers favorite dessert was chocoflan cake so we ordered that. It was decadent and filling. We probably should have just ordered one dessert to share but was curious to try the cinnamon candied pecan cake. We both agreed that was better than the chocolate one! Not too sweet and great variety of texture.

It was one of those moments were you kinda take a couple of bites, take it in...gently nod your head a couple of times, and softly say to yourself, "yep, yep, that's it". The other taco that made me feel like that was also a ribeye taco at La Buena Barra in MTY, MX. It's one of those things that changes your mood, your emotional state etc. It really was that good. Now that we have that out of the way, how was the other food? Excellent! We have four dishes and I'd would rank them: 1) catchetada 2) (tied) cochinita pibil & ceviche 4) fish tacos Both the cochinita pibil and ceviche were excellent - loved how the meat was wrapped in a banana leaf. The ceviche tasted so fresh with such interesting flavors to it. Similar to Suerte (which I loved) the tortillas are great. The 4th ranked fish tacos were fine, but didn't stand out that much ( and yes, i know, this probably isn't the joint for fish tacos) The space, both inside and out, was beautiful, the service is attentive and friendly (incl. hostess & servers), good drinks. Lastly, I have to say the value - what you get for the price ($15 taco notwithstanding) is some of the best in ATX! Este is one i can't wait to return to and would recommend and bring family / friends visiting. Can't wait to come back and try many other things as this is now one of my favorite restaurants

You can really taste the love that went into all this food. This is a food truck right across from HEB mueller in that swimming pool parking lot. I online ordered and picked up 3 different orders. 2 of them were not ready and she had me wait in my car and she brought them out to me so I didn't melt in the heat. Now the important stuff the menu... Ok who knew you could fry ribs?!?! They were on point. 4 to an order. Ribs were still moist, the batter had a crunch, and the meat fell off the bone. The dirty rice was the best dirty rice I've ever eaten. It was loaded up with seafood The smothered pork chops were 2 to an order and 2 sides served on a bed of white rice. Also very moist and great flavor, the Mac n cheese was not runny which I personally hate when it's just a runny mess, the fried cabbage also had a great flavor and it was still crunchy. The jerk chicken had great flavor but it was ordered as mild (not by me) and it definitely needed the heat/spice,the jumbalaya side was also tasty We also got the hot Cheetos boudin balls (I forgot to take a picture) they were huge and not spicy at first bite the heat sneaks up on you. The strawberry crunch cake was a big slice and reminded me of strawberry cake doughnut but that banana pudding was also probably the best banana pudding I've ever eaten. I felt all the portions were huge and prices were fair. This definitely not a food truck to sleep on. I've been told she makes great oxtails but they sell out fast.

Since it was this new and poppin' restaurant on East Cesar Chavez from the team behind De Nada, we had over an hour wait that we didn't take up. Its vibe intrigued me, and I think Cajun food is top five like Tatum with a cut. I decided to prepare only slightly this time. While getting dinner with a friend, we were discussing places when I suggested Lil' Easy. I threw a reservation down for an hour later at one of their numerous dining options. Upon arrival, parking at that little strip of restaurants on East Cesar Chavez is a bit treacherous. If you're not afraid of getting your steps in at 6 pm on a Friday, don't sweat it. Anyone else, good luck. There are a lot of different seating arrangements at Lil' Easy: the true outdoor patio with fans and umbrellas, the climate-controlled outdoor space that still brings the sun while still pumping A/C, and the traditional indoor space. Plenty of seating. The entire place was decorated with Mardi Gras beads and colors. Off the rip, we had to set the tone: I ordered a Pimm's Cup while my friend got some secret frozen swirl. We had to throw down an order of the Crawfish Queso as well. The food and drinks were served so quickly, we questioned if it was ours. The queso was De Nada's signature queso with Crawfish Étouffée mixed in. There are no tortilla chips on the side, but instead toasted bread. It's kinda like a DIY Crostini. The crawfish's flavor is a unique and savory balance to the cheesiness of the queso. Very delightful. We crushed it. My friend wanted to go wild. Another appetizer?? Their Shrimp Cocktail was thrown down immediately after ordering. The shrimp was great, but those house pickles were sneakily one of the best things they served us. Living the high life. Speaking of that, I ordered a High Life Pony as we made our main orders: a Fried Catfish Po'Boy and Fried Oyster Po'Boy. Both cut down the middle so we could have a little this, a little that. I think the bread, the catfish and the oysters, and the fries served alongside it were all incredible. My only issue was that the catfish po'boy had horseradish in it. That is a me issue, and I don't know why I can't stand horseradish. I don't know if it was hiding in their coleslaw or their rémoulade, but something was horseradish-y! I'd get the oyster po'boy again and again though! We closed the night with me being fun as I ordered their Frozen Espresso Martini with sprinkles and whipped cream because some other lady sitting nearby had that, and I WANTED TO BE FUN TOO. My friend got herself the seasonal nonalcoholic Arnold Palmer that was spiked with some Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka. Hers was great, but mine was basically a milkshake. I looked like a joyous kid with my drink. I was so very happy. They do give you lids for your drinks if you want to take them with you, but I planned to finish mine then and there. The gimme cups are also a nice touch and have their cute alligator mascot on them. Throughout the night, we could not believe how fast the service was at getting our meals and our drinks to us. Our waitress was absolutely on point the entire time we were there, constantly checking in on us and being extremely friendly and helpful in making sure we chose the right things and had a good meal ahead of us. Lil' Easy is casual, fun, and absolutely delicious. They have some of the best frozens in Austin, and their food is some of the best seafood and Cajun food I've had in Austin, hands down.
