Just tried them yesterday for the first time ! And food is great! We called ahead for pickup and the food was fresh and ready in about 15 minutes. We ordered the chicken wings meal with yams and green beans that were all seasoned well . We also got the kids fish meal with macaroni and cheese, and rib dinner with macaroni and cheese and collard greens. That was enough food for two servings and all came with rolls. Now the food is that of your grandmother back in the kitchen with her magic pots spewing out all that country goodness. Wanted to try a local black owned business to celebrate Juneteenth. This was my first time actually eating from a "soul food" restaurant and I will say I am not disappointed. I got the baked white chicken, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese. My husband got the fried tilapia, corn and mashed potatoes. My small children are on the picky side, so they got a cheeseburger and a grilled cheese with fries. Everything was absolutely amazing. The gravy on my baked chicken was so good that I was dipping everything in it (including a few stolen fries which were amazing!). Overall I felt like the quality of food was super high, everything was cooked perfectly and the order was 100% correct. My husband who waited for the order said the kitchen staff were on top of things and the atmosphere was laid back. Will definitely be back and can't wait to try the desserts! read more

This is the worst excuse of home cooking ever. My green beans were definitly from a can, my mac n cheese was soggy and basically tasteless and the mashed potatoes were grainy. A little secret, Mr. B's is a wonderful place to eat. They have a small eating area and it is quite plain, but you cannot go wrong if you are hungry for some down home cooking. Their menu will take you back home if you ate collard greens and fried okra. Their fried chicken is delicious. I came for the fried chicken and was I surprised and pleased! Best chicken I've had in forever. Usually go to Popeye's but this beat that AND Bojangles's & KFC by a long shot! Went there with my youngest last night to try it out. Very clean, smallish place with a friendly staff. They specialize in southern cooking. We had hamburger steak and ribs. Both were flavorful and cooked well. Sides I tried were collards, fries and black eyed peas all very tasty. All the food was good but like southern food can be a bit salty. The food itself is excellent. The fish entree.. all restaurants I have ever been to give you 2 pieces of fish, unless they are very big. Mr. B's gives you one piece of fish. Mine was catfish and not that big. While it is delicious. they should give you two pieces. Also, you can order whiting as well, but it is not on the menu. Had I known they had it, I would have ordered that. I had no issue with the flavor or seasoning on the catfish. It was fine. There were three of us and we were served 4 rolls. One roll a person would have been fine for us. Their seating area is not large at all and can easily be filled any evening. The wait staff were very nice. We will be back. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The fried chicken portions are seasoned great, crispy, and hot every time and the yams are so good I could make a meal out of them. The desserts are a must try especially the sweet potato pie and the pineapple coconut cake. Meal prices are reasonable and competitive with the surrounding restaurants and the meat portions are a nice size to satisfy the hunger of a hefty man. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and go out of their way to make your visit pleasant by accommodating your dissatisfaction. For instance, I once ordered a carry-out meal and when I checked my order an item was missing. They apologized for the mishap and not only corrected the order, they also gave me an extra dessert for my inconvenience. The only gripe I have is the waiting time to be served but this could be attributed to cook to order meals. If that is the reason, I can overlook the long wait because it is worth it. Just make sure you have the time to spare. I therefore give Mr. B's a 4 star rating. read more

This review isn't so much about the food but the customer service. I'm not sure if today was just an off day but I was highly annoyed after leaving. I ordered a lunch special online around 11:37am. Submitted and chose to pay at the store. The email said my food would be ready at 11:56am. Cool. I was 30 seconds away at Walgreens so i got there on time. Went in at like 11:59am just to give a couple extra minutes -- just in case. Two people were ahead of me. They ordered. I went next and told them I ordered online. The young lady searched the rack but my order wasn't there. She asked me to wait for the other lady. I did. She seemingly still couldn't locate my order. So I assume she put the order in at that moment. I paid. With no apology from her. Then waited. Waited some more. Others came and ordered after me and got their food. By now it's like 12:28 so I go up to the counter and ask for the status of my order because I was supposed to be back at work 30 min ago. Thankfully, at that moment, my food was finally on the counter waiting to be bagged. She gave me my food and still failed to apologize for any inconvenience (which of course, there were a couple).
