However, note the following: Packing and moving services were both utilized. Representative came to review primary location of belongings to be moved (approx. 90-95% of the total) and was provided with a detailed video of the remaining items, stored at a different location. Despite this upfront information, (a) the total weight was significantly in excess of the estimated amount, resulting in damage to the transport vehicle and a 2-day delay, and (b) at the secondary location the supervisor informed us that there was insufficient room for everything. He had to be cajoled and convinced into making the extra effort... which proved effective and successful. A number of bookcases were damaged during while handling and required subsequent repair, at our expense. One item was a tool cabinet containing a variety of hand tools, hardware, and the like. The crew's solution to this was to simply wrap and seal the cabinet in plastic, and put it in the truck. By the time it was in place at the destination, we found that the contents were in utter chaos, luckily with minimal breakage. Some softbound oversized books were placed in boxes haphazardly or sloppily, resulting in significant creasing of wide swaths of pages. A few items additional appear to have gone missing (none of particular value) and a small number of items were broken. Overall I would in fact recommend their services, particularly in consideration of the pricing, but I would strongly recommend that if you contact them for packing services that these be closely and carefully supervised.

I also dislike…read moreposting negative reviews, but every time I see a nick or a scratch on a piece of furniture or piece of framed art or think about my mattress that arrived completely covered in mold, or how I had to spend more money to have lamp shades repaired, it really pisses me off. The one star is for how accommodating they were while my belongings were in storage. They allowed me to access my belongings before I left because I had packed something I needed and they allowed my mom to drop off a couple of bags once I had actually moved away. I'm told these were favors as they usually don't allow these things...again though, had I had my own temperature controlled unit, I'd have been able to come and go as I pleased. it could very well be that all of my beef is with the shipping company. But based on the mold smell that still lingers in some of my clothes, it seems like that odor had been creeping in there for months. Full disclosure: My belongings hung out in their holding warehouse for many more months than originally anticipated. At least double the amount of time. When I first spoke them I asked about climate control...you see over the years I had built a collection of clothes and furniture that I care deeply about and I was assured moisture was not an issue and that it always stayed cool in the warehouse. I'm the idiot for believing it. To make things even worse, I had recently purchased my first adult mattress spending a very pretty penny for my quality of sleep; I even did my first payment plan for this mattress! I was not easy to work with, I admit. I had no idea the length of time it would take me to find a suitable dwelling in Oakland, CA. Each month, I'd pay the storage fee and say "not yet". I just figured it was more money in their pocket. Well, fast forward 8 months, I have my new home (finally, it was extremely difficult to find a place with my dog in the Bay Area) and I am ready to get my belongings. Most importantly my mattress. Oh how I had dreamed of that mattress and was looking so forward to getting to sleep on it again (I had JUST finished paying it off a month before I got my things). I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of everything. The wardrobe boxes arrived with an overwhelming stink of mold. The moldy smell still lingers on some of my clothes almost one year later. But, my heart was broken when the guys from the moving company they worked with unwrapped my mattress. I was assured by Supermovers that it was wrapped air tight. Supermovers placed the blame on the company that did the actual delivery and of course they blamed the storage facility it was in.. The mattress was dark brown, green, ugly shades of blue. It looked that mold had been growing for a long, long time. It was completely beyond repair. Picture frames and my desk had scratches, chips and nicks that were not there before. Lamp shades somewhat damaged requiring repair. But oh that mattress. Forget insurance. Mold is one of the only things not covered by renters/property insurance. Omar finally agreed to send me a check for less than a quarter of what the mattress cost. I still get nauseous thinking about it. So, pay the extra for the climate control if you plan on leaving you stuff there. I would hope that a local move within the same city would go smoother with them. At least for their sake. If you are planning a move your things to another state, I'd stay far away from them.

We decided to use this moving service to support a local business in Astoria and also discovered that the owner (Moses "BEN" Benliza) lived two blocks away from us. He came to our apartment to inspect the items we had and take photos before providing a quote. Upon delivery, we received 13 boxes of wet, mildewed, damaged boxes which included a large portion of our work clothes, important documents/books, and small electronics (i.e., 3 laptops and routers). Our mattress and was wet/damaged, and they never wrapped two sectional pieces of our cream-patterned banquette couch because they thought the sheet that I laid on top of it just to keep it from getting dirty was sufficient (resulting in a damaged couch and dining table). We are also missing a lampshade because they left it at an auto shop while replacing a flat tire during the move. Our floor got chipped/scratched because one of the elderly, very frail men he hired to unload the truck dropped our armoire. Ben's cousin, Steve, is the driver of the truck, and I was recently informed by another friend who used Benliza's moving services of an equally horrible experience because they arrived five hours late to start the scheduled move after claiming a cat was inside the engine. Please do yourself a favor and find another moving company that doesn't try to take shortcuts. Have a look at the photos I have included and ask yourself if this is how you want your items to arrive. He is unprofessional and has absolutely no idea of how to run a business. I am perplexed as to how he is still operating and wouldn't wish this on my worst enemies. DISHONEST/UNETHICAL/UNPROFESSIONAL/UNPREPARED/UNORGANIZED * has a known leak in the roof of the truck that Ben deliberately chose not to repair but still books moving jobs knowing there could be a risk of water damage to items * did not wrap several items despite charging an additional $630 for wrapping materials (what kind of moving company doesn't wrap a couch or table?!) * made an appointment directly with our building management to deliver items without confirming or notifying us first of the time (we found out from building management that he did it behind our back). * showed up late when picking up and delivering items despite pushing back the appointment time twice * had to leave in the middle of the move 3 separate times to go out and buy wrapping materials when he was already provided an inventory list, had come to take photos, and inspected items in advance * told us there would be three movers to help pack the apartment but only one showed up who had to leave early (hires guys from Craigslist and other hourly handyman moving apps) * the second group of different guys he hired to unload the truck and bring our items into the apartment chipped and scratched our floor (one was a very frail, elderly man, Reggie, who was too weak to lift much of anything) * the two unloading guys had no idea what to do because there was no one there to provide them with instructions (hired them from some random app) * truck is old and he fails to keep it properly updated (got a flat tire while delivering our items which took 3 days to repair because the lug nuts were so rusty and broke off when the auto shop tried to replace them while our things were still loaded on the truck) * failed to provide an update on when our items would arrive (we had to continuously reach out to him to get an answer)

We will absolutely use them again, and we will be recommending them to everyone we know. Olga was super communicative, and she made the process so smooth and stress-free. She was always extremely responsive. Every question we asked was answered quickly and every email we received felt very reassuring. We haven't moved in a while and we had a lot of worries about moving to NY and hiring movers. But we could tell how competent they were even over email. For example, we realized the night before the move that we have a sunken in living room we did not mention before. We thought surely that will be an extra charge (and other movers might be very upset with us for not mentioning it!). We frantically emailed that they may want to bring a ramp or something. Olga responded, that is no problem. A lot of other companies also wanted an inventory of everything ahead of time, which we definitely didn't have. Olga said we could guesstimate and update her if anything changed. This was a lifesaver. When we updated along the way, she never seemed concerned that what we were adding was too much. We have friends who have used other moving companies, and they told us actual horror stories (e.g., movers not showing up, a million extra charges, needing every box to be accounted for before the move, things breaking, etc.). So when we were looking for movers, we were trying to avoid all of that. We decided to go with NY nomads because they were a small family business. Many of the big companies seem to be hit or miss - some people have okay experiences and some have really bad ones. There's a reason NY nomads have so many great reviews. They're kind, consistent, and professional. Djordje was friendly, great to talk to, and clearly very knowledgeable about moving and NYC. I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently they moved everything into the truck, and I was even more impressed with how they were able to park the truck right in front of our apartment. I hired Optimum Moving company to move my apartment contents. Please don't use them! They said…read morethey will start at 8 am and came at 9. They said they will send 4 movers and they were only 2 with the driver. They had to finish loading by noon and they finished at 1:15 pm. On the way to the destination they stopped for lunch and arrived at 2:45pm. The condo I am moving in has strict rules that they have to leave the building at 5pm. They succeeded to bring everything upstairs but no time was left to assemble back what the disassembled. When I asked the company for them to come back another day to finish, he asked for extra money! Please pass the word around so nobody will experience what happened to me !!
