First, I want to make it clear that this review is for Mountain Broadband. The company has been sold and now has a new name. Perhaps the new owners will make improvements. Second, I was holding off on writing this review until I found a new internet provider. I was holding off due to fear of retaliation after encountering juvenile behavior from the previous owner. Now that the company has been sold, I've decided to leave the review to let the new owner know what they are dealing with. The story is this. We have the highest tier of service available. It's pretty expensive for what we get. My husband and I both work from home however so internet is important. We were not getting speeds as advertised (checked using Speedtest.net on multiple devices). A tech came out and was able to get the correct speeds on his personal device. He said the company would monitor our speeds to try to determine the problem. Over the following year we heard nothing from the company. I called multiple times and left messages checking on the issue. No one ever called back. I also sent emails which were not replied to. Finally, about a year later, we got an email asking us to review the company. My husband reviewed them correctly. i.e. speeds weren't as advertised and customer service was lax. The owner then emailed us calling us "keyboard warriors". I sent screenshots of emails that had been unresponded to as evidence for our concern, but instead of addressing the issue, he told us that we could go to other providers. He did offer to have a tech come by, but as there are few providers up here, I halted contact out of concern of retaliation. Asking for a review is a double edged sword, especially if you ignore customer issues. If you are requesting reviews assuming that they all will all be positive, then you are making unrealistic assumptions. Calling your customers "keyboard warriors" and telling them to leave is not only juvenile and poor customer service, it's a poor customer retention technique. Companies like this function off of the knowledge that customers don't have many choices. We know that eventually we will have other choices with better value and better customer service, but for now this is where we are. Here's hoping the new owners do better. read more

Mountain Broadband has plenty of issues with it being incredibly slow, we hardly ever have 10mbps which is what we pay for. When it get's up to 8 I'm a happy camper. Friends in Germany have 50, 80, 100, no problem. Maybe the "free market" makes things/ services cost more & more for less & less. Andy sold the business a few years ago. I think a guy by the name of Dennis Obiren has owned it for several years. Ever since Andy left the company it has gone down hill. I stuck it out for a couple years but things kept getting worse. It got to the point that I couldn't use the computor anymore. I called & finally talked to the owner. He said i'm sick of people like you telling me what your going to pay are you going to pay your bill or not. I said not the full bill. My service was shut down 5 minits after he hung up on me. Everything about the service in this area of Evergreen is backwards and so incredibly outdated. While the same broadband technology is strong, reliable, and at least 40mps a few miles away, Mountain broadband is weak, unreliable, and a piss-poor 5-10mps that doesn't meet anyone's needs. We have tried, but our cellphone service is better and cheaper than Mountain Broadband. Hopefully, the company will join the 21st century and provide customers with real internet service. I am amazed at the total incompetence of this company in Coal Creek Canyon. The installer gave me false information on the system, which led to incompatibilities with my home setup. I've called many times, used their online tech support, refused to pay the bill...no response at all. Often nobody answers the phone. They didn't even realize I was not paying my bill! I have reminded them I would not pay the bill until I got some simple answers. How can a company stay in business that can't bill it's customers?? They finally figured it out after three months and now are trying to charge late fees....but still no call-back. This is after I had to pay over a thousand dollars to dig for the fiber. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! I fortunately have a satellite line for internet or I'd be screwed. read more

Our internet always goes down. I assume they are working on the issue even though it's been a month, yet they wouldn't dream of sending out a mass email saying what's going on and what we can expect. The owner Andy is a jackass, he'd rather fight with you than help you out. And don't you dare expect compensation for the internet you are paying for yet not receiving. Fantastic service, reliable speeds, and super-responsive customer service. What a breath of fresh air from the company that had the monopoly before. We live in a part of Evergreen that's not serviced by "wired" ISPs. With our previous provider we paid for 7Mb/s, and were lucky if we got 2Mb/s on a good day. With Mountain Broadband, we pay for 15Mb/s and that's consistently what we get. The only times we've had outages have been for things like severe storms which have caused blackouts to their transmitters. Even with that, they let us know they're en route with power generators to get them back up and transmitting. Not many companies would do that. read more

They have been fantastic to work with. I am on literally 400% faster internet then I was with a different company. That is the good, but the great has been their service. The installation was done extremely professional. I was concerned as any home owner would be when they were installing they would perhaps do a spotty job and leave holes in my house etc. The installation was done VERY well and looks amazing. After that while the internet was speeding fast I was having some technical difficulties as I need a certain NAT type. In about a week they had my NAT fixed to the type I need and I couldn't be happier. I doubt big companies would of been able to keep up with my heavy technical requirements, but Ben was able to understand what I needed and got it up and running. In Coal Creek Canyon Mountain Briadband is always buffering, slow, or down all together. The owner Andy is horribly rude, thinks he can do & say whatever because we are all so desperate to pay a high price for mediocre internet. Yeah sure! His employees leave tree branches all over your property, they smoke & leave the butts everywhere, along with their fiber optic trash. This company is unprofessional, high priced & rude! Mountain Broadband does not provide anywhere near the speed it claims. Many times it has gone down on weekends. When you call them you get a recording saying a technician on call will call you back. Nobody on our block has ever had a technician call them back on a weekend including us. Apparently, they don't really have technician on call on the weekend. Frequently you can't even reach them during normal working hour during the week. We would not recommend them if you have any other option. read more

Let me start off by saying I only stayed with this company for a total of three months, the internet connection was really unbearable. I would never recommend them. When I first started the service everything was going really well for the first three weeks, then the connection started going really really slow if it even connect at all. I finally called in to complain about my problem, I mean I was paying my bill on time and I felt like the customer service should have been a little bit better. I was informed by the guy on the phone they were having some lines issues in my area that had just been fixed and to just unplug the router and try to reconnect. So I did that, then it worked but after that every single time I wanted to use the internet in order to get a connection I had to unplug the router and plug it back in. Well this gets very tiring especially when I go to school and use my internet several times a day. I finally called back in about two weeks later and said look I'm not going to keep plugging my router in for this internet to work, so they sent someone by to replace my router. At that point I was already upset they didn't offer me some kind of credit for all the inconvenience I had been going through but at least my internet was back to normal and working about three weeks later there was a huge storm that hit our area and once again the internet was not working unless I unplugged the router every time and plugged it back in. I then at that point had it with this company, I called in left a message asking them to call me back because this issue obviously needs to be fixed somehow, and I also told them I did not want to pay my bill for the month of December until everything was figured out, one I should have gotten a discount for the times my internet did not work that I had payed for. No response from them for almost two weeks so I send them an email expressing my concern that they have not responded to my phone call and message and just two days ago, I get a missed called from a random number so when I called back to see who it was, finally it was mountain broadband and the guy told me my cell phone wouldn't let him leave a message so I told him my issue and he said well here's the deal we think it is your computer having an issue and not our router or connection, if we send a guy back on there we are going to charge you $50 for the problem and not only that but we have cut off service to your house anyways because you said you were not going to pay the bill for this month until things were settled. My response was my laptop which is a brand new mac book air is definitely not the problem, in the one year I have had it, I have never had internet connection issues what so ever, and I think it is very unprofessional you have cut off my internet one without talking to me first and two without even trying to make an attempt to better your customer service. I will take my service somewhere else and I will be yelping your company. I also asked what to do with the router I paid for and he said I have no idea its yours. HORRIBLE. read more

The internet works good for about the five minutes it was on. Dealing with the rude arrogant behavior of the people who run this company is not worth a moment's time let alone the $80 a month they want to charge you. They told me there would be no service fee and then mistakenly added a service fee on to my bill when I emailed them about it they called me with a bad attitude and an intention to turn off my internet without crediting my account. This guy "andy" is basing the presumption that I will be a bad customer off of the fact that a previous tenant at this address was a bad customer. Why a past tenant has anything to do with me idk. I'd hope this guy Andy is the owner of the company, cause if I were the owner I would fire this guy andy who is going to turn away paying customers because of his personal problems and lack of an ability to deal with people in a positive way. Congratulations andy, you just lost your company $720.00 a year, and positive word of mouth / Internet reviews. Way to benefit your business. Now I am a century link customer, guess what they charge $20 less a month for a 7 megabyte connection and no bad attitude. To be honest, my experience has been much the same as Liesl L.'s. Frequent and often lengthy service interruptions, difficulty in reaching provider, lack of returned calls, no credits for service outages. I would give 2 stars based on price, but considering their unreliability is a big factor in my getting a land line, the price advantage really doesn't exist and the rating should probably be 1 star. Got to believe that if I paid them on the same basis that they provided service, they would object to that, so why they would not treat their customers in the way they would want to be treated is beyond me. read more

It all sounded good before we had the service. We paid for 15Mbps service and to date we are barely getting 4Mbps. I requested a static IP address during installation, then emailed and called them. I still have no static IP and the service has degraded significantly since the install about 1 month ago. They don't respond to email at all. If you can get them on the phone consider yourself lucky. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Take your money elsewhere. We were satisfied for a while but something has changed with their business. They are charging a ridiculous amount for horrible internet. They don't return phone calls, even their owner!!! Our speeds have been drastically reduced with excuse after excuse and no solutions and charging us the same amount. It's always something on our end that's not working and not their fault. All of our stuff is new!! It's excuse after excuse and it seems like I'm not the only one that's had this issue from reading other reviews. We live in Nederland and had internet service through Nednet and had dealt exclusively with Matt, the owner of that company. During the two years we had Nednet, Matt was great -- very helpful, returned calls immediately, and had very few service interruptions, and when we did, they were resolved quickly. Mountain Broadband bought them out and ever since, it has been nothing but problems. We have service interruptions constantly, and have had long periods of time for days, even as long as a week without service. I work from home, and this is a major pain in the butt. When I call their number, I always get what sounds like an antiquated answering machine (never a live person), and they usually don't return my call unless I threaten to report them to BBB. I don't know who Dennis is, manager, owner, but he always comes up with a bunch of excuses, never apologizes, will never give you a credit on your bill, and tries to blame the problem on Matt, whom we never had a problem with. These people have the worst customer service skills I have ever seen, and if the other options weren't so expensive, we would have cancelled service a long time ago. As it is, since we already have a dish for TV, we are strongly considering switching internet to satellite, so we can move on. As it is, I think these people need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau, and maybe the State Attorney General's office -- it's not just the problems with their service, but also their rudeness and complete lack of customer service skills... read more

I have been with Mountain Broadband for about 6 months now, and all I have to say is THANK YOU!!! I live way up in Conifer and the only internet available to me out here was garbage CenturyLink DSL at 1.5 Mbps, or Satellite. Both options are terrible if you like to use the internet beyond basic web browsing and email. I am a IT pro and I work from home regularly, not to mention that I am a gamer and Netflix user. Suffice to say, 1.5 Mbps DSL did NOT cut it. Fortunately, I contacted Mountain Broadband as soon as I heard about them and they were able to have someone come out to do a site survey within a few days. After the successful survey, I scheduled an install date and they had two very friendly techs out at my home right on time and installed my equipment in about 2 hours. Since then I have enjoyed my blazing fast 15 Mbps internet! It has also been quite reliable for me, in the last six months I can count the outages I have experienced on one hand and none of them have lasted longer than a few hours. Honestly, Mountain Broadband is more reliable than the giant cable internet providers I used to use when I lived in the city. I would highly recommend Mountain Broadband to anyone looking for fast and reliable internet service in the foothills of Colorado. read more

i've been a customer for almost three years and the previous review is spot on...when the company has a technical problem their solution is to remove the customer vs fixing the problem. i've opened numerous support tickets and the response is to delete the ticket and not resolve the issue. Someone in Public Utilities needs to get on this company and remove them...they're taking money and not providing what they advertise and when a customer complains they cancel service...no es bueno read more
