One of those places that I was positive that I'd reviewed earlier, just because it's such an icon, but no, apparently I haven't gotten around to it until now. This place is pretty damn awesome. The views are spectacular, there's a half decent cafe, and a restaurant that I'm a little bit scared of looking at the prices inscribed upon the menu, and have thus far largely avoided. The views really are worth the trip. I've done the walk from Waterfall Gully in the past, but I'm just not fit enough for it now to do it in a respectable time, so now I just park the car up the top and walk the last little bit from the car park to the lighthouse. The last time I went, I did have a bit of trouble with the parking - not because it was overly busy, but because I was there at a time that you weren't required to purchase a parking ticket. Only catch was, this wasn't signposted anywhere near the machine or near my car - took me a good five minutes to work that out. But there's a good chance I'm just really slow.

The wine list was a little sad, which to be honest isn't really acceptable considering there is a wine region at their doorstep and the romantic positioning of this venue calls for a nice bottle of champagne. My partner and I came here the other night to down a couple of bottles of sparkling, it was really lovely sitting there in the evening watching the sun go down. People watching is fun here too, lots of people propose up at the summit after wining and dining their lover. The service was excellent and our waitress poured our wine for us, which I always like. I wish I could comment on the food from personal experience, all I can say is that it looked pretty nice on everyone else's plates.

Stunning views, the best in SA I'd go as far to say. I could sit up here for hours taking in the amazing view. If your up for a walk, then there are heaps of trails where you can take in the scenery from various points. It's great to get away and get back to nature, and you wont find a better place to do that than here. There is also a restaurant/coffee shop where you can take in the views, whilst enjoying a drink and a meal.

This visit is a great experience, there are expansive views of Adelaide out to the gulf. The cafe is comfortable with seating inside and outside. The Cafe menu is quite extensive with good food options available. The service even though at times busy are good. Great place to bring overseas visitors. We enjoyed our coffee and lunch.

If I had to pick one single word to describe Mount Loft Summit it would be peaceful. I have not found a more calm and serene spot in Adelaide yet. Located in the Hills (a 15-20 min drive from the city), it is the highest point of the Mount Lofty Ranges and gives you truly spectacular views of Adelaide. On a clear day you can see as far as the beach side and even spot the jetty in Glenelg. Apart from the beautiful lighthouse, the icon of Mount Lofty, there is a small restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. You can also just enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine on their terrace and let the stunning views take your breath away. If you want to continue your journey through the Hills or elsewhere, pop into their Visitor Information Center right next to the restaurant. I think everyone who visits Adelaide should have a stop here, even if it's just a quick one. It is free and definitely one of the best 'postcard' memories I have of this city.

One of the best experiences, specially all those lattes, cakes, burgers, time to loose some kilos ! Yelpers head to mount lofty spend few hours climbing the mount and have fun. It's pretty steep. Better not eat to drink coffee before heading there. Weekends car park is an issue so head as early as possible. There are rest rooms, beautiful scenery and a coffee place up there. Good coffee loved eggs Benedict worth climbing/ walking. All the best.

Good food, but inexperienced staff. Messy hot chocolate. Well cooked and presented food was its only saving grace.

For my liking, they do a ripper brekky, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is typical of this end of the hills - easygoing, but with just a splash of 'nose-in-the-air', which I find very amusing. Before we first went (2nd day they were open) we had heard they were trying to push the kid friendly vibe. Although they seem to cater for the young mum audience, according to reports I've heard come from the owners, the young mum crowd stopping in for a coffee once or twice a week doesn't pay the bills, so they are trying to expand their clientel to include people who will buy cocktails and spend money! Fair enough too. I hope this place has legs and is around for a while; The old indian restaurant in this spot seemed to thrive for years, whereas other restaurant spots in the same area of Stirling have a very hard time, turning over every couple of years. Seems like you're doing the right thing at the moment Patchies, keep it up! And to any of you curious about somewhere to go in the hills for a bite, with or without kids, get into patch. Well worth a look!

The coffee is good, at a good price and perfect with a cheeky slice of cake if you're so inclined. We indulged in scrambled eggs with kasundi relish (amaaaazing!) And avocado and tomato on homemade buttermilk bread. All tasty and filling too. Its uber-kitchy decor and open kitchen gives PK a unique home-meal type charm with a rustic hills cafe quality. The service is an OK pace, if you're not in a rush...i can't imagine this would be the sort of place you'd stop if you were, but as I said, if you go in feeling loosey-goosey, no fuss, no stress, PK is a definite winner. Glad we finally made it and looking forward to returning to try the rest of the lunch menu.

They have a fairly simple set-up; a small open kitchen and a few tables inside and then a few more tables outside. My first visit was on my brother's wedding day when the three of us bro's went out for breakfast beforehand. The breakfast wasn't huge or elaborate but was well cooked and the coffee was fantastic. I've been back for coffee and cake and the quality is still high. They sell all sorts of jams and spreads made locally in the hills and have a rack of plants out the front for purchase. I also read that they have a barter system there; so when we visited they were asking for lemons and were offering food or coffee in exchange. I like that initiative. If you live in the hills and have driven past on your way to somewhere else and thought "is that place any good?", the answer is yes, so you should pop in and support your local hills cafe. You never know how long these places will stay open if you don't.

Our coffees (and one iced chocolate) came out really promptly and were top notch (and very affordable somehow). We opted to sit out the back, a great choice for a bright, warm hills Autumn morning. It feels like being out the back of my Nanna's house (retro table and all) only no one is yelling at me through the back window about the football scores.. which is good I guess, for a cafe anyway.

My favourite in particular is the antipasto platter. Order it and you can thank me later. They pickle their own veggies and make their own dips. But I persevered, wondering if the simplistic looking cafe set overlooking a car park and hosting canteen style menu board of sandwiches aimed to fool the hipsters of Parkside into thinking they should move on an eat at other hard wood floored establishments on the main road. I was right. It's the essence of things, it's the friendly country service (even though you're 20 mins from the city), it's...Mabo. Hearty soups and huge baguettes caught my eye on a cold winter's day in Stirling. My seasonal veggie soup came out with crusty bread and steaming hot. All I wanted to do for 15 minutes was eat that bloody soup but I had to wait for it to be less than burning. That soup-er temptress was worth the wait as she was peppery and full flavoured and very filling. I'm currently planning my return for a less heated affair and one of their big brekkies. Even when they aren't having the best day, the inner awesome shines through. Given the success of the place in it's hidden location, it would seem the fickle people of Stirling agree. The baguettes. They're just that good. All the ingredients look, taste and smell super fresh. I haven't been able to decide on a favourite, but all that come with pancetta are droolworthy. Crispy salty awesome with fresh herbs, it sounds simple but it's done so well. The chicken ceasar is really good too, as are the turkey cranberry and the chicken avocado. The philly cheese steak owns my stomach, so filling, so good. The smell alone makes my mouth water. When I tried The salami baguette I had my standards set pretty low (I'm not a mad salami fan) but upon recommendation I had it toasted. To say I was impressed is an understatement. Possibly the best cheese toastie I've ever had. There are two vegetarian baguette options on the menu, both are really good quality full of roast vegetable and herb deliciousness. I haven't looked for a vegan option, but I'm sure these friendly folks won't bight your head off if you ask nicely. They also do good coffee, and like most places in Stirling these days they do breakfast. Unfortunately I'm yet to have the Essence Breakfast experience but it's certainly on my to do list.
