I don't bother writing reviews unless they are really good or really bad. This one is really good, and it ain't a fluke, this was my third trip... Why?
Booking: They got it right and were more than accommodating of 2 high chairs.
Staff: Quick, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive
Atmosphere: It's a busy resturant, given that, it was not too loud, and not cramped.
Service: Fast. These guys don't mess around, you order, they provide.
Food: This is what it's all about. We had ;
Pork and Veal Polpette - perfect texture and traditional flavour, Tomato ragu which covered them was well cooked, sometimes a tomato sauce can be under cooked and still have some fresh tomato taste behind it, not this one, it had cooked a long time and was perfect for the meat balls.
Pork Rib Eye Tagliata - The only dish that took a while to come out, but worth the wait. Cooked to perfection on the bone and served with an Apricot and Mango Chutney, crispy thin onion rings and a secret recipe mustard (they wont give that mustard recipe away) Each individual component on its own packed a flavour punch, and when combined on your fork and delivered to your taste buds.... Oh yeah.
White Bait (special) - It's whitebait, simple in it's own right, easy to get wrong, but they didn't. My 2 year old son Loved these!
Asparagus Arancini - Whoever made these didn't just poke some cheese and asparagus into a ball of rice and crumb it before throwing it in the fryer. No - first they made a risotto which was perfect in its own right, then they added the rest once the rice was perfect.
Prawns - Pan fried to perfection with cherry tomatoes and garlic. Need I say more than prawns and garlic? Served on a bed of black rice, which was wasted on me, but hey, I'm just not a black rice guy.
Salame Pizza - Look, if you like pizza the way Italian pizza is supposed to be (if you're not sure what I mean, then go to Naples and find out) then it doesn't matter which pizza you order here. This pizza is how it is in Italy. I hear people say they want more toppings, well, in that case, go to Dominoes or Pizza Hut and don't spend your precious money on a proper pizza at this establishment.
Chocolate Fondant - Ordered one (you get two little ones in a serve). Ate it. Ordered another one. Enough said?
Tira mi su - Ever had a bad tira mi su or an average one? This tira mi su will make you forget those average ones and have you licking the generous sized bowl.
This place gets busy, so book. Don't expect to walk in and get a seat unless you are getting in early or late.
Go forth and eat, fellow foodies. read more
