This review's going to be an odd one. I've given Brunelli's a very good review - one I think it deserves. But the thing that has most satisfied me with this place is a mistake made by one of their baristas. Brunelli's is one of my favourite places in the city. Maybe it's because it's so easy to find a park nearby (Mario tip: beside the Apple nightclub across the street), maybe it's because I used to come here as a lad, or maybe it's because the place is saturated in a friendly atmosphere and makes good pizza and good coffee. I don't know. It's probably all of those things. But as of a few days ago, it's something else. I ordered a macchiato. The barista was a friendly guy, and we got to talking. Somehow it came up he plays the bass guitar. I revealed my dad also plays bass guitar. He was so excited by this revelation he accidently made me a long black. He gave me the long black, apologised, and made me the macchiato as well, and then we continued talking. I ended up giving him my father's name, and it turned out he'd had bass guitar lessons from my dad years and years ago. And so, I reconnected with an old family friend. But, more importantly, and what affected the rating given alongside this review: I got two coffees for the price of one. Nice.

Cafe Brunelli's can either be REALLY good or REALLY ordinary. :( Hence the mediocre rating. It seems to depend on which staff are on in the kitchen as to what the food is like. The last few times I have been there it has been really good - so hopefully it is on the up. If you are looking for a reasonably priced meal - then this is a good safe bet, but just dont expect anything to spectacular and you wont be dissapointed.

This cafe is literally always busy, but it has heaps of seating in and out, and plenty of staff and food choice. I've eaten here a few times for lunch and tea, and they have so much variety and the service is quick. It's a very loud place, so don't plan on having a romantic dinner or anything, but it is good food, for a good price in a great area. Their dessert fridge is the best thing! You have to conveniently walk past it to get to your seat, and it's very enticing, I always keep room after my meal for a sweet. The place is also good for kids, but is kind of crowded and there are sometimes lines to order. A simple cafe where you will always get good cheap Italian food for lunch and tea, with a busy and loud atmosphere.

Formerly Cafe Buongiorno, Brunelli Cafe's revamped interior and menu has seen a moderate upturn from its previously dismal patronage. Whilst you still have to order all food and drinks at their respective counters, and the menu and food do not deviate greatly from those of its predecessor, some interesting additions makes this cafe restaurant worth checking out. As far as cafe steaks go, Brunelli takes the cake - the Bistecca Funghi is simply delicious, and is highly recommended if you're in the mood for something other than the stock-standard pizza or pasta varieties. Also, the desert selection both on and off the menu is extensive. The baked goods window can't be missed upon entering the restaurant, and the variety will put you in awe. The self-serve order system is the one thing remaining in this restaurant that holds it back and takes away from the customer's dining experience. It follows that the customer service isn't top-notch because of the lack of table service, and can at times be rushed. If you're picky about customer service and have high culinary expectations, this place probably isn't for you. Otherwise, Brunelli is appropriate for a casual dinner with friends for a reasonable price.

One of the very few restaurants/cafes open after 1700, was very attentive & friendly. If your in the mood for pasta/ pizza, etc. or desert, drinks, a night cap it's a family open & quaint place to dine. The desert selection is full of options. Toblerone drink helped warm my tummy on a chilly night & was ooh so yummy. If it weren't for the short time spending in Adelaide I'd return for more desert options.

Veal Saltimbocca minus the sage, prosciutto and with a sauce more fitting to hot cjops. Disappointed

Review Highlights - Cafe Brunelli

These make for really nice summer dining but can be annoying if you are bothered by the large amount of foot traffic that walks along Rundle St 24/7.

What a great find! My friend, Mirella, brought me here a few days ago for a coffee and a shared…read moreorange polenta cake. Oh my!! Needless to say it has haunted my dreams since, so today after a hard workout my husband and I biked over for lunch. The first thing that strikes you while approaching from Kitchener Street is the lush, inviting covered wrap around porch; there is plentiful and adequately spaced tables located here (so as not to be forced to overhear unwanted convos). Next, upon entering this clean and tidy cottage you will notice three separate distinct seating areas: the main dining area, a smaller dining area tucked away by the kitchen and pastry counter, and a delightful and welcoming covered deck. We were promptly greeted by one of the friendly staff and seated straight away. Tap water, glasses, and menus were waiting at the table and after an appropriate amount of time our order was taken and special requests confirmed. This place is really busy but it seems well managed; the staff is very attentive without being intrusive. As we waited for our order we noticed the bustling and efficient staff who worked like a well oiled machine - dirty dishes were quickly removed from tables, additional carafes of tap water were dropped off without being asked for, and patrons seemed relaxed, very happy, and satisfied. By meals' end we, too, were among those happy people. My husband ordered a sandwich that I struggle to recall the name ;( it was a hearty sandwich made from perfectly toasted sourdough, grilled chicken breast meat, swiss cheese, garlic aioli, a mix of tender and flavourful greens, and crispy bacon. I ordered the smashed avocado with feta on the same delightfully prepared sourdough. It, too, came with a generous portion of greens. We could not be happier with our newfound neighbourhood brekkie place. AND there is a coffee loyalty card to boot!

You couldn't add Kale even though one dish had it and the outdoor area had a strong bad smell. Still the coffee was great and the juice and food was good. My partner didn't like hers but I would come back and try again.

A large Venue decorated in modern decor, and some space outdoors for groups. Love the booths in the far back corner. The staff are super friendly here. As soon as you walk in you are greeted and seated. At all times you feel welcomed and you know that you will be looked after. I love a all day breakfast menu. I saw a picture of the gin cured trout and knew that was what I had to order before I arrived. It was just so pretty! I was right, it was almost to pretty to eat. I couldn't bare digging into it without taking a few snaps. The trout was cured well. I feel like it could have been cured a little longer to have a deeper flavour. Maybe more salt and sugar was needed. But, that does not mean that it was not tasty! It was really lovely. The egg was poached well, crème fraîche was a great edition and lifted the dish. An added surprise was the sea greens. I really loved them. I think that not many people are used to them, but they are really tasty. The carrots were nice, but felt a little out of place. I think what the dish needed was a sauce. The crème fraîche was great, but something with a deeper flavour or seasoning. The rest of the menu looked great! I look forward to test more items. In fact, be sure to try out the coffee. I think we may have another great coffee destination in Adelaide. They offer a couple of filter options and cold drip. I am looking forward to watch how this business develops!

I can't tell you the number of coffee places I have been to in Adelaide that "close" at 5, but you can't get a coffee after 4:30 because the help are cleaning up to close. Here, the reply was a big grin and, "Sure mate-would you like anything else with that?" The barista then proceeded to make me a great latte (and obviously used equipment that had been cleaned for the evening shut down). I was attending a workshop around the corner and had had a long day-I was in desperate need of a good coffee. I can only describe my first visit here as like those RAA commercials where a knight in shining armour rescues you. I have since been back many times over the last three years and I have noticed that they always treat me the same-great coffee and cheerful service. Another thing I have noticed is that most of the employees have been there a long time too. I think that says a lot about an establishment. I know boutique coffee houses are popular (I like them anyway), but I am always happy to find a chain store that does a quality job. They are located in the lobby of the Calvary Wakefield Hospital and have extended hours. They've never failed me-I doubt they'll fail you. Oh, you can tell by my reviews, I drink a LOT of coffee....... Eat drink and be merry, but not too much. JD

I also find the prices not worth paying for the quality and quantity received. Great improvement is definitely needed, and soon!
