After some retail therapy at the annual RM William sale at the showground, we were in need of some light lunch at 2pm.
Knowing that there are numerous Cafes along Goodwood Road, we parked the car in the community centre car park and wondered around until we stumbled and found this little gem.
It is situated across from the Capri theatre on the side street where it used to be a French restaurant. The owners had been running it for 9 weeks so far when we visited.
The dinning area accommodated about seven tables and there are bench seatings outside which will be a great place to sit in warmer weather.
Table is covered with brown paper and assorted coloured crayons are provided if you so inclined to doodle and bring out the artistic self in you, a much better socially accepted activity than spending time with your smart phone.
We choose our meals from the displayed cabinet which consisted of gourmet house made huge sausage rolls, assorted wraps and filled rolls, muffin sized filo cups - choice of bacon & egg or vegetarian and gluten and non gluten cakes and a gluten free pear tart.
We shared the sausage roll and the vegetarian filo cup. Both came with a few small salad leaves and slices of tomatoes with a swiggle of mayo on top as well as a generous serve of house made tomato sauce. Both were very satisfying light lunch choices.
There are several substantial lunch items on the printed menu and on the specials board as well as 3 choices of soup with a serve of Turkish bread to accompany the soup. There shouldn't be any problem choosing.
We couldn't resist the pear tart which is somewhat different to your normal ones. Whole half pears were used as well as a generous topping of lemon 'icing' which went very well with a 'cakey' top, the pears were sandwiched. The tart definitely went well with lashing of cream, (we each had our own little sauce plate of cream) and coffee. That was our 'afternoon tea'.
All meals are very reasonably priced. Our light lunch and afternoon tea came to be less than $15 each, bargain! read more
