I had to use my whipper snipper to clear the rocket to get to my food. It wasn't very busy but the order took ages. When it came my partner's was the wrong order. More waiting. Coffee came in grubby cup which I cleaned off myself. Staff are way way too inattentive and laid-back. I mean come on get your finger out guys. And how about focusing on customers not the "talent"! Menu is overpriced I mean add $2.50 for an additional poached egg! I could almost buy a whole hen for that (‍ joke)! All in all a mediocre/poor experience. We will avoid it next time.

Okay, book shops have had coffee shops in them for ages, but this is a coffee shop with books for sale, which adds character. Actually, it isn't just a second-hand bookshop, but it is a bookshop that donates all of its sales to charity, which is even better. Basically you make an honesty payment, and the money goes to funding micro-loans in developing countries. This is a concept that I can really get behind.

Dear Daisy occupies the space left by the Leah St Deli and is right on the tram line next to the Forestville tram stop next to the hairdressers. I've popped in and out of here a number of times for coffee and have been most satisfied with smooth flat whites and spicy long blacks and am always pleased with the sparkly service and cheery staff. The menu here is catered to the breakfast/brunch crew (all day breakfast, huzzah!) but Dear Daisy is developing a great lunch menu. The selection features all your standards for brekkie and lunch has a mix of wraps and rolls as well as some great specials (pulled pork buns, zucchini fritters anyone?) and over the past week since its opened I've seen the menu change and evolve. Lunching here I had a pulled pork bun with coleslaw with potato salad on the side, the pork was soft and tender and the potato salad had pickles (yay!) with yumminess all round. Pricing is quite reasonable and on the cheap side for the Goodwood area. The cafe's motto is "Organised Chaos" and , when busy, this is exactly how it feels. The cafe is run by Tony and John. John is always easy to spot as he is well over six foot and looks like Peter Garett. He enjoys chatting to regulars and is often spotted sitting at the tables doing just that. The coffee is good and one of my personal favourite drinks is the quince scented green sencha. Zuma's also serves a mean chai latte, however its size is not for the faint hearted so I usually order a half serve. This cafe is a great place to people watch. The clientele is mixed, ranging from alternative greenie types to lawyers and politicians. Either way, it has a cultured, multicultural vibe and there is nowhere else like it in Adelaide.

The Big Table is one of these, as is Market St. While not located in the markets, this cafe is directly across the road from the main Gouger St entrance on a street called Market Street, which makes it easy to find. The kitchen is open and visible, so you can see everything being made fresh and the bread is baked on site. There are fridges of cakes, dairy and other treats to take home; so it is part cafe, part gourmet deli/bakery. I have been there for breakfast twice and both times have had their poached eggs with salmon and a cold drip coffee with ice and agave. Definitely recommend that combo. Like the Big Table in the markets, they also do muesli and other tasty options - which aren't limited to breakfasts.
