    Pork Belly Sandwich
    Mark S.

Great little place, with a quirky name. House roasted coffee has unique flavour. Pork belly sandwich was delicious, with melt in mouth confi pork and great accompaniments. Salt & Vinegar chips were a nice surprise!! Would be a great local work lunch spot.

Breakfast at Crack Kitchen was one of my favorite meals while traveling in Australia for my honeymoon (August 2018). My husband and I were in Adelaide just for one night to catch The Ghan to Alice Springs. So we just needed something yummy for our early breakfast before the train later that day. The restaurant has a great visual aesthetic. The menu is clever and I loved my food (The Mortgage) and drink (almond milk latte). My husband also loved his food (The Vault) and drink (latte). See picture. We got there shortly after opening and there were already people seated for breakfast. It definitely got more busy as time went on. So it's clearly a popular spot. Would definitely recommend to anyone in Adelaide looking for some solid coffee and food.

Great modern cafe with a good casual vibe. Bfast time is busy so expect to wait if u don't ha e a group booking. We were told we would need to wait 15mins but were seated within 5. Coffee arrives quickly with a selection of styles incl their own roasted beans. Menu options for bfast are extensive. Food arrived within about 15mins of ordering even though it was busy. Will definitely come back here.

Soooooo when you add the hash browns to the breakfast sandwich it actually comes ON the sandwich.

Great service. Great location. Great food! Just know that when you order hashbrowns with your egg sandwich, the hashbrowns come inside the egg sandwich.

What's cracking in Adelaide? Crack. There are many puns to be made here, some more appropriate than others. From the team behind The Loose Caboose in Hindmarsh and Whipped in Semaphore, Crack Kitchen transforms a former bank into three levels of exquisite cafe, roastery and soon to be patisserie, with a focus on local community and traceability for produce. Crack, noun; a narrow opening. The building is long and narrow with just a single row of tables running down one side and the counter running down the other side. A couple of communal benches are squeezed into the front corner next to the counter. The interior is simple and minimalist with Scandinavian design influences; concrete floor, white walls, white-tiled counter, light timber furnishings and black staircase. Touches of turquoise add some colour and flows from the shades of the wall-mounted desk lamp lighting to the cups, saucers and table condiments. The second level is in the style of a mezzanine, overlooking the tables below, and features bar seating and the coffee roaster at one end. The third level was not yet open at the time of writing but is planned to eventuate into a bakery and patisserie. Crack, colloquialism, cocaine; a highly addictive stimulant. The food menu provides some twists on breakfast and lunch favourites; these include the Bircher muesli with poached pear, the smashed avocado with beetroot hummus and spiced seeds and the bubble and squeak with salted beetroot. Then there's some more creative and slightly left field dishes that include the brioche Welsh rarebit, the home made black pudding, the gingerbread pikelets with poached mandarin, cardamom yoghurt and chocolate almond honeycomb and the beef brisket sourdough. The rarebit and the brisket sandwich both feature house made mustard mayo which is simply divine, even for those who are usually not mustard lovers. Coffee is roasted in house, the roaster on the second level might be a giveaway, with a blend and single origins on offer as espresso, filter and cold brew. Soy and almond milk are available. Hot chocolate from Mörk and a range of teas, smoothies, fresh juices and milkshakes are also on offer. Crack, verb; to overcome a security system or component, to break open. A centrepiece of the ground level is the unisex disabled bathroom, the quaint door of which is from an old bank safe. Like the front doors of the cafe, it is motorised and opens automatically. Puns and homonyms aside, Crack Kitchen is a stunning addition to the CBD with its strong food menu and coffee offerings. The cakes and tarts on display on the counter are quite something already and opening of the third level patisserie and bakery will be exciting.

The staff. There's always a saying how staff and service can make a break a place. And in this case, they made it. The staff are the friendliest people, so thank you for making our experience so wonderful. Automatic doors that push open when you enter automatically makes you feel like a wizard. Or a bank robber, as the vaulted doors are made from hard steel, probably a remnant from the building's past as a bank. The decor is as Melbourne as you can get, set in Adelaide. Absolutely wonderful. Black cutlery, timber finishings, vintage coffee machines, the works. Food is nothing short from spectacular. The Mushroom Field is great. At first glance it seems a bit on the smaller side, but it is actually sufficient. Coffee is wonderful. A terrific addition to Adelaide's food scene and this is one that should stay.

Went here Sunday morning and had a great experience. Absolutely love the decor and the vault toilet is such a talking piece. The staff were lovely and friendly for an early Sunday morning and more than accommodating with questions about the menu and recommendations. The menu had a lot of choice. I choose the smashed avo and poached egg. Which were perfect. I added the black pudding which could have done with a little more flavour but still good. Their coffee is really good too! As they have only just recently opened I look forward to trying them again soon.

We were warmly greeted by two waitresses as we arrived. The perfect start to a great experience. We were seated immediately, which we were surprised by. We started with coffee. Me, a soy latte. It was acceptable but not riveting. My meal, the bubble and squeak, though. Stunning. Just beautiful. House-cured salmon that melted in the mouth and was an orchestra of flavours, carried by a luscious meatiness. Salted beetroot kraut which was oh-so refreshing. The most perfect poached egg - the yoke rich-orange. And a creamy-comforting bubble and squeak just loaded with oniony bitter-sweetness. Perfectly seasoned and the perfect carbohydrate to accompany the other ingredients. My hung-over companion had the ham hock and poached egg with a mustard cream which apparently hit the spot good and proper. A resounding 5/5 I am told. The whole experience, despite the less-than perfect coffee, was exceptional. Move over My Kingdom for a Horse and Troppo, you have some serious competition on your hands*. *I know, I know, all these businesses can and should coexist peacefully. But, frankly, I'm going to struggle to find the motivation to visit the other two places with Crack now in the area,

    Welsh rarebit to die for!

Trendy and cool atmosphere with gourmet style brekkie! First impressions are great - I love the shop front signage :) Plenty of "table for two" seating and a couple of larger group tables, perfect for a breakfast/brunch date. Upstairs they have breakfast bar style seating and it's very spacious! I had the Welsh rarebit and I didn't stop to make chit chat whilst eating it - it's a must try if you go here. The food is presented really well and I like how the cutlery is black in colour (not seen that before!) Only thing this place loses a star for is service is a bit lacking. It took them 10 minutes to seat us. One person greeted us, said they would be back and never showed up again- next we saw them serving others and avoiding eye contact with us!! Rude!! Only when we were about to leave another server caught sight of us and had us seated right away. Oh and we asked for water - they forgot to bring us that too.

Cool restaurant with the vault from the old bank being the bathroom. Just pray you don't get locked in! Food was pretty good. I liked the grilled haloumi cheese. Everything was pretty average. Nothing we had stood out much but it was good.

Love love the decor - strong focus on minimalism with Danish influences. White and teal seems to be the dominating colours in this space. Leafy plants adds to the impact. The three level old bank has been transformed into a coffee haven. Perfect for the caffeine junkies in my office, as it is only down the street for us. The roastery is located on the second level if you are keen for a lesson. Food serve is beautiful baguettes and sandwiches with a wow factor. Will have to pop back here for breakfast or lunch soon. As they have only opened today to the public, there is still some final touches to add to this place. Worth a gander and a coffee for sure.

Absolutely love Crack kitchen. In the last month it's had some menu changes- there's a lot less options now. Some may think that's bad but at least it's easier to choose as everything sounds so delicious. Sad to say my favourite gingerbread pikelets have been removed, but my go tos are the fresh pasta (super buttery, with roasted cherry tomatoes, cheese and meaty bits) and their granola and mushrooms dish. I also love the sound of their jerk chicken burger- that's next on our list. Coffee enthusiasts will love their brews- no sugar needed. Big ticks to their iced lattes. Absolutely love the interior- huge ceilings, mezzanine level, greenery galore, a old safe as a toilet and airy, Scandinavian vibe. There's no wonder this place is doing incredible things- when you know the crew behind the Loose Caboose is running the show you're up for a great feed and good service.

This corner block fitout was bright and light with lots of white tiles used throughout. We sat in front of the kitchen where we could see straight in. The kitchen looked messy and cluttered. I think a curtain of some sort would be beneficial here. We were offered table water upon sitting down. Always a thumbs up in my opinion. We perused the extensive menu umming and aahing over all the tasty-sounding dishes. What appealed to me was the amount of home-made goodies they had on offer, from brisket to lox (cured salmon). Most of us settled on the salmon blini and one brisket salad. I ordered a side of toasted bread on the side as well. The presentation was beautiful. Every dish looked delectable and mouthwatering. Taste-wise: it was lovely., but "standard". I didn't taste any point of difference compared to another eatery had I ordered the same or similiar dish. The other ladies enjoyed theirs and so did the lady with the brisket. She said the beef was tender and flavoursome. I want to come back and try another dish, something with their homemade bagels I think.

You can easily drive by looking for something bigger, better, more open but you would be missing out. I was in a rush so I bolted in, was welcomed by a friendly bearded young bloke at the counter (with a lady in the kitchen), asked for my standard medium FW and because I didn't want to fumble with the menu, asked what I could snack on other than what was in the display cabinet (which looked fresh and inviting). He offered a toasted egg and bacon sandwich with house relish (oh yes please) and one or two other things but I was already sold (rushing remember). I took a couple of photos & took in the surroundings before my coffee was brought to me. Well crafted, creamy, strong enough, perfect temp with some nutty after tones. It took less than 5 minutes and my sandwich was brought out to me and I left feeling happy. Another five minutes later after I had demolished the sandwich I was even happier. It was delicious with just the right amount of filling and the relish a great flavor They have coffee cards where every 6th is free and my spend was just under $10, also a fair price. I don't personally want to have kids charging around in a cafe on the one hand, and in between tables and chairs on the side of a reasonably busy road on the other hand. I don't care how trendy it is and I certainly don't care how many young up and coming professionals are discussing the better stocks to buy since the global financial crisis at brunch; if they have children they should be watching them, especially if they insist on sitting outside next to a reasonably busy street. There is a level train crossing at one end of the block here and that means there are regular periods when several cars will be banked up and suddenly driving through. Half a dozen times I saw kids nearly get toppled by traffic while I was sitting here. I was most alarmed. There's such a great children's playground down the road, all fenced in and beautiful - up here in cafe la la land the adult were so engrossed in the food and conversation they just ignored a few kids who were evidently still in play mode. I have decided the place gets enough custom without me talking about the lovely furniture or the strictly word of mouth policy that the owners have - no business card, no brochure, no website... just word of mouth; well, the word of mouth at my mid morning soiree was "Watch out!" Seriously, I'd rather eat somewhere else and leave all the swank alone.

We must have made pretty poor meal decisions as after ordering the potato langos, duck croquettes, arancini, olives and a mushroom gnocchi I rolled out feeling heavy and greasy. All meals were very oily and the only dish that benefited were the warmed olives. So for the woman who walks in watching their waistline, preferring to eat seafood and get plenty of 2 and 5 in their meal, you might want to accept a different dinner invitation.
