Just off the main parade down Gouger Street near the Adelaide Central Markets hides a very talented bunch at Market St. This is a bakery, café & speciality store all wrapped into one loving parcel.
The café opened in October of 2014 and is earning its amazing flawless reputation. I decided it was my turn to sample the amazing treats they have to offer on the way for my weekly shop at the Markets.
Firstly, the café was super busy and I was afraid that we were going to have to wait a while for a seat. We were greeted by a lovely waiter who really went out of his way to look after us by setting us up right at the front marble counter. We totally got the best seat in the house being able to watch all the work in the kitchen.
The breakfast menu in particular is really impressive. The meals zooming by me gave me some serious food envy and made it hard for me to choose what I wanted to eat. I decided to munch on the cheese toastie with almond pesto, tomato and pickle. Since it is getting colder in Adelaide, I thought that this was the best choice. To compliment, a house brew coffee.
Well, I think Pickle in the Middle have a contender for the best toastie in Adelaide. Wow! This was perfect and really flavoursome with the pickle, pesto and melted cheese. So homely and comforting. The bread was nicely buttered and so crispy! It was pegged with a skewer with little pickled veggies that works so well with a toastie.
As for coffee, this is really going to be one of the best destinations in Adelaide for sure. They have a massive cold brew set up, which is divine, and a great selection of beans. House brew was served in a flask, with cup and saucer. I had no troubles getting through that fast, delicious.
Very impressed with this café, well worth stopping by with friends or for a business meeting. Perfect set up with lots of space and open to allow fresh air through. Don't forget to buy your loaf of bread here as well. Very high quality from Dough. read more
