Suburban cafe hidden on a side street off a main road? Check. All day breakfasts? Check. Chef with a dessert loving fangirl population spanning most of Adelaide? Check. This is Chef Quang's new venture after he shut the doors to his Devour Dessert Bar in July earlier this year and it's starting to make me wonder why he didn't explore savoury any earlier in his career! Now any chocoholic out there knows how good Devour's desserts are smokin' but trust me when I say that his breakfast menu is one to make you swoon. From bircher muesli to a multitude of eggy delights there is something to suit every brunch muncher. Don't forget to check the specials of the day either! My dining companions excitedly devoured corn fritters with salsa, baked eggs and a steak sandwich but I knew I had won the food envy stakes that day with my poached eggs on rye with smashed avo, mushrooms and pesto dressing. Eggs were perfectly cooked and everything was fresh and filling with the perfect bread to egg-goo ratio. Coffee lovers will find 5 Senses here and cold drip, filter and more if you fancy. Service is incredibly quick and direct to your table and the atmosphere is light and not too busy (yet). And for all those dessert fangirls out there don't worry, these guys are now shutting at their cafe at 4pm everyday and re-opening as a dessert bar from 6pm every night. read more

I found this little gem by accident when I popped into Aura Hair & Body for a bit of beautifying (who are great by the way) and noticed this funky little cafe & patisserie. It was late so I made a mental note to return for brunch. And return I did! Having just moved houses, this was literally down the road for me so it ticked my box for location! I love the decor of this place, it was a trendy inviting cafe hidden away in a quiet suburban street. The West Torrens library is just down the road so if you have the luxury of some free time, borrow a book (remember the good ol days?) and sit down for a nice brunch or dessert and some decent coffee to really unwind. read more

Devour used to do amazing desserts so I was a bit disappointed when they changed to breakfast and lunch. Don't worry though, there is still the odd dessert night that has lines out the door. We decided to brunch there for a friend's birthday. As good as their desserts were, their savouries lived up to expectations. They had the portions, flavour and presentation all done right. Eggs were perfectly poached, every ingredient tasted fresh and the flavours worked well together. Their corn bread gets a special mention for me because I like corn bread but I actually ordered the smashed avo with mushrooms and feta. Generous serving just how I like it! Another special mention goes to the ham hock which tasted great. I can definitely see why they are still so popular! Now to look out for their dessert night. read more

This place, this place is perfect. I wouldn't know where to start?! * Seating arrangements was spot on, not crowd at all. * Noise level, what noise? Perfect. * Menu had a great and cheap selection of breakfast, brunch, lunch and drinks to choose from! * Service also spot on and quick with meals (took longer to actually decided what I wanted, so many yummy choices!) * Portion size is massive and fulling! The only seriously thing I can complain about Devour Café & Patisserie that it isn't closer to home, it actually a 45 minute drive for me but as a Yelper it's amazing enough for me to go the mile to eat this amazing food! I ordered the Eggs Benedict and a hot chocolate and it was a perfect brunch. Happy to leave Devour Café & Patisserie with my stomach smiling. Another great venture from the guys at Devour. Their new cafe is nicely layed out with a relaxed feel. As always their coffee is amazing and one of the best you will get around Adelaide. Tried the banana layered cake along with the lemon tart. Both of them tasted great with nice textures that make you want to go back for more. Check it out if your in the Richmond area and if not then it is well worth the drive. read more

Returning back here on the 29.04.16 for dessert night, our group arrived about 630pm before opening time at 7pm and we got the big table. It was great we didn't have to line up outside and the placed filled up quickly. By 7pm, the late comers had to wait outside in line while we enjoyed our desserts. This time, the cafe had a few seats outside for their potential customers whom were happy to wait outside and the waitress quickly took our dessert orders. I ordered the honeycomb thickshake, very smooth and sweet, full of ice cream, the only thing was missing were the bits and pieces of honeycomb. I ended up choosing the 'Banana Cake, banana sponge, white chocolate mousse, caramel banana ice cream, toffee popcorn, popcorn powder, and popcorn ice cream. What came out was a well presented dish, there was only one scoop of ice cream, it was the caramel banana ice cream, it was delicious. I don't know what happened to the popcorn ice cream, unless it was a typo on the menu. The banana cake and sponge was absolutely devine and blended well with the toffee popcorn. There were bits of popcorn powder around the plate, it was very decorative on the plate. There wasn't any white chocolate mousse however it was replaced by caramelised banana, which added a different texture to the plate. I loved this. Yummy! Thumbs up! I can't wait for the next opening and see what creative desserts they have. If only I had room for 2 desserts, or I hope one day they make a tasting platter with smaller desserts. After such an incredible meal elsewhere we were itching for a good coffee and something sweet. Devour was just a hop, skip and a jump and I was excited to try some of their desserts since they have moved that from their old Prospect address. There wasn't much of a selection left in the glass cabinet and nothing seemed appealing on their desserts menu. The coffee was pretty good. However, I have nothing good to say about the sweet treats we bought to accompany the coffee. The salted caramel and chocolate tart was all tart and hardly any caramel. Also the flour in the tart tasted burnt yet undercooked and left my mouth with that chalky feeling and that you'd choke on the loose crumbs of the tart. We also bought some raspberry square dessert of some sort. The cachous on it wore soft and swollen (due to too much moisture) and the glaze on the outside had a lot of condensation over it. The filling above the base was nice enough. However the base was very odd. It tasted like a soggy LCM bar ( you know the rice bubble bars). I left this place deflated and just wish my experience was up there with all the other good reviews, but it wasn't. read more

After experiencing Devour Dessert Bar at Prospect, I was so damn excited to see they had opened a Cafe! All my expectations were high and were all exceeded much to my likings! This cute place is just a short ride away from beach and city and packs an absolute treat for brunch! I have to give Devour 5 stars because, I'm a damn good bruncher and I'm always looking for the perfect spot to brunch away! Firstly, this cafe is the perfect size - not to big or small, just the right amount of seating and room to not feel over-crowded, but certainly a warm kinda cozy! The breakfast menu was thoroughly thought out and the variety of choices will seriously get your taste buds going! I tried the zucchini fritters, poached eggs with an avo salsa.. and it was bloody brilliant! The taste was sensational, so many flavours, so much colour.. and to top it off the serving size was H U G E! I didn't even get to finish it (*insert sad face emoticon here). The price was reasonable at approx $15. Oh, and did I forgot to mention the soy hot chocolate was to die for? Extra large mug. Extra delicious flavour and texture. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and the wait was nadaaaaa.. what wait? We had to talk for an hour after the food came out because we were served straight away - love it! (: I'm yet to try the coffee, but believe me when I say, I'll be back! This place was beautiful! Ranking #1 at the moment for places to brunch in Adelaide. Thanks Devour!! P.S. Chose this Cafe for brunch today as I was going to be in the neighborhood and had some interesting reviews. Arrived at 10.25am the place was full and looked like a lot of happy customers. We needed to wait on the seats outside for a table & given menus to decide on our order. We only had to wait for 5 min before we were seated. Great vibe inside and a good looking menu. Ordered coffee while waiting on our orders. Unfortunately got to the bottom of my coffee & noticed a dead fly. Politely & quietly brought this to the attention of my waitress. She took my cup away with out a word & I sat there speechless & feeling quite gross. Another waitress came back in 10mins with another cup of coffee and once again not a word. I do acknowledge I did not voice my opinion on not receiving an apology but I did so due to being out with an interstate guest. My order of smashed avocado on toast with eggs & chili oil with chirozo on the side was very nice. However I need to rate at 2 stars with the lack of care shown today. read more

I do love this little cafe, especially the style and the staff are wonderful! I can't comment too much on the food as I've only eaten a bacon & egg roll here (which was delicious), but every time I get take away coffee from here it's average. It's not bad, but it's not the best- just average. I think if this place looks to improve this part a bit, it'll definitely be rated higher for me. read more

Very pleased this has opened up within walking distance of our house! Typical sort of trendy decor, plenty of space etc. Been there twice now - once for breakfast with the husband and once for brunch with the girls. Had the bircher the first time, really enjoyed it but I did send it back when it first came out (it came out swimming in a moat of milk. I don't like milk - the waitress seemed a bit nonplussed, lol) but once it came out milkless it was great. Husband had an amazing breakfast with pickled onions, eggs, corn, chorizo etc. Wasn't on the menu the next time I went back though :-( Only downside was that they don't take eftpos and there wasn't a sign saying cash only etc. so my husband had to go for a relatively long walk to the supermarket ATM. Would have thought they could have put a sign up. Second time was good too, had eggs and avocado smash, very nice. Took a cake and macaron home to try too. It was quite full the second time we went so hopefully it sticks around! read more

A harsh but deserved review. I took a friend here after he was an absolute champion and drove me about town while my car was being serviced. As we had to be up early i promised him coffee and thought; where else would we go but the new and very fashionable Devour cafe? We got there at 7.45 so it had only been open 45 minutes and was very quiet. I loved the paper menus and push bike hanging off the wall and the fact that there are bottles of water on each table was a definite plus. After ordering our very reasonably priced coffees we sat down to wait for our very much needed caffeine hit...and wait...and wait. As I said we were there very early and the place only had another couple of people who were also waiting for their coffees and looking around with the anxious, needy look that one has when one needs a coffee first thing in the morning and is terrified they've been forgotten. After 23 minutes (yes i timed it) our coffees came out. I would love to say they were worth the wait but they definitely weren't, mine was bitter and so strong I had to add sugar (which I never add) and my friend who practically inhales coffee, left his half empty. In the end we both decided that a McCafe coffee would be not only quicker but also tastier. read more

Went here for a Saturday breakfast. Staff were initially friendly, I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers, and asked if the price would go down if I didn't want the egg and avocado as well, they assured me it would. According to the prices of the sides when ordered separately this would take it down by $6. I asked for confirmation, and, again they agreed. I was really happy. When my meal arrived I was upset to realise that the cream cheese also had chives and onion mixed through. I am intolerant to onion, and usually always make this known, but as it was not specified in the menu, it escaped my mind, and I simply forgot to mention it. I took it up to explain, and the staff member was immediately rude towards me, saying I should have told them before I ordered, and that just because it doesn't say it in the menu doesn't mean it's not going to be in there. I tried to explain and apologise but he showed no commiseration, and cut me off. He took my plate away anyway, mumbling that he would see if they could fix it. I then had another member approach and say they could remake it with sour cream instead. I was quite embarrassed by this point, as I don't like sour cream. It is VERY different to the cream cheese that is a normal companion to smoked salmon. I apologised again and said if they cannot do it with the cream cheese I would like to change my order. The waiter half rolled his eyes, and walked off with no confirmation of my new order. I had to call him back to see if that was okay or not. He half turned toward me to confirm, but did not stop. After our food was brought, we were not approached for the rest of our stay, even though it is table service and we had been there for over an hour. At the end after we had paid, I realised that I was charged much more than what I had eaten (the new order was $10). I asked about what I had been charged for, and the first waiter pushed his arm in front of the waitress serving us and pointed aggressively at a menu saying "it says you have to inform staff of any allergies, so we have charged you the price of the bagel". I was so embarrassed and shocked, that I walked out. I added the prices and they had charged me $14 for the bagel instead of the $12 agreed upon. After encouragement, I again went back in to ask, but was immediately turned away again when he refused to say more than the bagel was $14. I am not the kind of person to make a fuss, or stamp my feet. I work in hospitality myself, and I understand that there are some difficult customers around, but I was not one of these. I am polite, shy, and very conscientious. I was made to feel humiliated and ostracized, for something that was really no one's fault. I have never had to face so much hostility in the service industry. I had hope to be able to bring more of my friends and family here, but I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more
