Wandered in from my food night's sleep into this cool little long cafe to grab a bite to eat and coffee! The barista understood the strange Perth habit of a Long Macchiato - which was great to hear. I grabbed the granola, which was balanced and not too sweet. The chunky clusters of oat, walnut, almond, apricot, and cranberry was crunchy yet chewy - the baked nature had not taken all the moisture away. Coffee ... the real reason to drop in... This was wonderful. Smooth. Delicate but fully flavoured. Bitter sweet notes with hints of caramel. Atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly. Definitely a good way to start my day. read more

I met Coffee Branch on Monday. They knew me by my name on Tuesday. I used it as my office on Wednesday... and on Thursday. And by Friday, I realised I couldn't leave Adelaide without popping in and saying goodbye as I'll genuinely miss spending time there. And while you may think that's how every café experience goes (or Craig David song, for that matter) it's not. Well, I'm not entirely sure on the Craig David front... You see, it's not just the fantastic coffee that makes Coffee Branch great, nor is it the tasty sandwiches, although they were brilliant in their own right - it's the people inside - both staff and customer. If you're looking for a hub, this is your spot. I quickly learned that inside Coffee Branch is a veritable who's who of everything awesome happening in Adelaide. (Including coffee making.) And the greatest thing? Knowing that I was looking to meet cool and interesting people, the staff had no problem making introductions, recommending contacts, and even inviting me to upcoming events and restaurant launches. Baristas who remember your name, have beards and ironic mustaches and bang out a quick, smooth coffee while engaging you in non-idle conversation are worth this kind of rave. Coffee Branch are doing everything right from their coffee and knowledge about it (for the better informed than I), their hole in the wall layout that manages to house enough people having weekday meetings and their service/hot men with beards/same thing. Their biggest flaw is that they aren't open weekends and this really does nearly kill me when I have friends from interstate in town and want to brag about this place to them! The guys that run this place are also always active in making Leigh St a destination on weeknights, hosting pop-up bars and activities with the rest of the crew on the street. This is probably one if the best coffee establishments in Adelaide. They've set the shop up in a very unique fashion, with bikes mounted on walls and cosy stools to sit on inside; radiates a very sexy vibe. The coffee itself is fabulous, its just the right temperature and beautifully brewed, almost on par if not better than some if the coffees I've had in Melbourne and believe me, Melbourne coffee is really hard to beat in Adelaide. There are few things wrong with this spot. Near the Currie street end of Leigh street it is understandably a hot spot for office workers and people using it as a social meeting spot. Alexis has come here more than a few times to share an Americano with a friend. A coffee not necessarily on their list but as I came here first after a holiday in South America an had become a fan of the style, they were flexible and knowledgable enough to cater for my tastes. A small area outside for those wanting the brisk breeze that comes up the street (particularly nice in summer before noon as you're in the shade) They have a few food options and they are reasonably priced. Well, the first thing I asked my colleagues when I arrived to work out of our Adelaide office was where I could go to get a good cup of tea, and they were unanimous in recommending this place. So, the very next moring I made a beeline here to grab a cup of tea. That was fortuante because it was the last day that they were open before they closed for the Christmas break. Unfortunately that meant I missed out on trying their coffee (because I generally only have tea in the morning). All I can say is that it was definitely worth it. When I first walked past here the place immediately caught my eye, so the recommendation only encouraged me. This place is cleverly positioned between the offices of Grenfell and Waymouth, and the ramshackle Hindley St. It gets a lot of attention from coffee addicts, especially those who run their own businesses near Hindley - it's a bit of a coffee desert down there. Personally, I'm here for the lunch snacks! The Burger Theory truck actually drew me in one day, and after a nose around inside I thought I'd come back and try their food. Sour dough sandwiches, cannoli, zuchinni slice. All very reasonably priced. In general, the vibe of the place is pretty nice - a good place for a quick meeting or a catch up with friends. The wood interior is airy and pleasant, and it's nice to see bikes used as a decorative feature. The guys in charge seem pretty nice too - I think this business is really taking off. read more

Superb spot to grab coffee or a Matcha if you're not a coffee drinker like me. I have never had a Matcha latte as creamy as this one with almond milk before. They really know their craft here. I'd climb the highest tree to get to the Coffee Branch... CRINGE! Ahem. All bad puns aside, Coffee Branch should be applauded for the way they have taken Adelaide's CBD by storm with their caffinated venture. Adelaide has become somewhat of an expert at taking a corridor of a venue, and turning it into a slice of unpretentious, yet uncompromising food heaven. Everything here from the scrubbed back dark wood bar and floor boards, to the fresh white painted plaster walls, to the enormous windows that they throw open on balmy summer mornings, screams taste. Josh and his coffee cads are warm and welcoming, greeting regulars (and you don't even have to have been going long to be one!) as they arrive and just making you feel gosh-darn better about heading into work. The coffee itself is made with a deft hand, not scaldingly hot (which is a common compaint of the weekday morning coffee) but just right for sipping without losing a layer from the roof of your mouth. Should you go black, the crema is perfectly golden and smooth. If milk is more your thing, the use of FULLcream milk (anything else is just as good as coffee whitener in my opinion) makes your coffee silky smooth. I have it on good authority that the use of Bonsoy for non-milk drinkers makes their soy lattes unique. I can attest to this, as I accidentally sipped on one of their soy lattes the other day. What would normally send me into melodramatic fits of gagging, actually had me doing "Hey... not bad!" face. Friday's at Coffee Branch have also become THE place to be in recent times, with their collaboration with From Scratch... patisserie. Not only can you pick up a cup of your favourite kick-starter, but also an incredible pastry (sweet or savoury) from the pop-up kiosk just outside. I recommend the Ugly Raspbettie, or perhaps the She's Apples.... then again their Salted Choc Chip Cookies are divine... or a macaron if you are in the market for just a quick bite. Screw it, you'll just have to go back EVERY Friday until you've tasted the lot. The closing of Leigh Street has given rise to a new era in eating and drinking in Adelaide. Coffee Branch have managed to grab this opportunity and show Adelaide how it should be done. Eating and drinking is not just an every day function, it's a social event. Even at 7am on a Monday morning. So pop in tomorrow morning, grab yourself a latte (perhaps even give that *magical* Bonsoy a whirl), flick through a few pages of Monocle Magazine and give kudos to Josh and the boys. Coffee Branch is one of the places in Adelaide that knows how to make a 'real' coffee - you'll always get a rich, satisfying experience as the baristas here know their stuff. Tucked away on Leigh Street, if you're ever in the area and looking for a quality coffee with no fuss, the guys in here will sort you out. The only downside I can think of involves their opening hours - they close early each weekday and aren't open on weekends, which really puts a downer on that post-work/dinner pick me up we all crave from time to time. read more

Grabbing a take away coffee from here is the go but they now have a small outside area for those wishing to pause for a moment to enjoy coffee which has ultimately increased in quality in two years to say the least. I'll normally grab a take away and walk along, the bit I like best about this coffee is that you are able to drink it straight away, there's nothing worse than having to wait for coffee to cool down, that's a good indication that the milk has been overheated or the coffee burnt, but not here! The background is of good choice too, or maybe I notice it more after progressing a few years in age aha! I used to go here while I was doing a short course nearby a gentle while ago. At first, I was afraid by the busyness and the amount of attendance of suited, slicked, stached business people. But then I went in when it was a little quieter, and before I knew it, the baristas, their trendy facial hair and I had become fast friends. To the point that for the two months I stalked -nay- kept business running there, it was faster than your dad reaching for a shotgun when you bring a fella to meet him that they knew what my order was and me by name. This is a great 'hole-in-the-wall' type place just down in the hipster off-streets of Hindley. Fantastic coffee and fairly quick service (which is notable given the number of customers) with a great city location. The only disappointment I've had with this joint is that they don't seem to be open on the weekend, contrary to their website. I may just be unlucky and hit a day where they were unexpectedly closed, but it was certainly disappointing that I couldn't hit this place up for a Saturday morning brew. read more

Jet lagged and in search of coffee at 7am, an oasis. I rub my eyes. Is it real? This little crevice of a place with large outdoor communal tables beckoned with earthy arabica fragrance spilling into the quaint side street. I approach and enter its open front and was greeted warmly by a guy manning the high end espresso machine. He served me a soy latte and one of their croissant donught hybrid delicacies. I was rejuvenated. Their coffee is top notch and atmosphere and hospitality also are unparalleled. I don't drink coffee, I mean I drink coffee, but I don't 'drink' coffee. I can easily go a few months without a cup of coffee without batting an eyelid, and while I can easily recognise a really bad coffee I can't recognise a really good one. But I do have it on good authority that Coffee Branch do some really good coffees. Me, well I have other reasons for liking Coffee Branch. Firstly: It's on Leigh Street, and I love Leigh Street. Secondly, the guys behind the counter have always been friendly and chatty. Thirdly, From Scratch Patisserie. These guys set up besides Coffee Branch on a Friday morning selling a whole range of different delicious pastries. The best thing is you can grab one and a Coffee Branch coffee and enjoy them both in store or on the outside seating. There's none of this 'no outside food' hoo ha! Despite the store being incredibly tiny, you can still find your own space, and you're not sitting elbow to elbow with complete strangers. I was here once chatting away and I hadn't realised they had been slowly closing around us, we hurried out of there, but they assured us we were fine to stay as they would still be sticking around for a while. read more

A rad flat white is enough to draw me into any place - but if it has vibe (and Coffee Branch does, in spades), and it's close to where I live & work, you can count me as a regular. While the Leigh St locale may say "business suits and email subject lines", the place is mellow and interesting - decked out with personality and charm, bikes adorn the walls (apparently for sale if you feel the need for speed whilst on a caffeine high), wood finishes give it warmth and the position near an alley is pretty perfect. Couches also earn big points with me. The warmth extends to the staff too, who are super chilled and friendly and seem to know their beans. read more

Good coffee, so I'm told, great hot chocolates, couches, jazz music, paved road, alley way, high ceiling, bikes, cakes and biscuits. These few words pretty much sum up Coffee Branch. The baristas and quirky and passionate, the products are amazing, the atmosphere is relaxed, casual and ambient and the location is great. Off Hindley on my favourite little paved road, Coffee Branch has a couple of seats outside, a small skinny shop and seating towards the back with couches I always try to grab. By partner is a bit of a coffee junkie, working as a boutique barista himself, so we frequently visit coffee joints like this one. There is no parking around free really.and it's a bit of a walk from Rundle, but well worth it and you can spend some time there enjoying the atmosphere. read more

So great, I sometimes walk all the way from Uni to visit here and it's so worth it (as is the opportunity to be amused by all the hipsters you may see on your way there). The owners of Coffee Branch have taken a narrow space and filled it with things they love, like bikes, thought-provoking magazines and coffee beans straight from heaven! They also have those little chocolate tarts courtesy of the makers of sweet calorie-laden delights 'From Scratch', which I regularly choose to shove in my face whilst I wait for my take-away hot cup of 'yes, oh god yes, that hits the spot'. My only problem is the service can sometimes seem like a case of 'oh you're in a suit therefore you must be more important than all the others and get served first'. I've seen it happen a number of times, and it leaves those who have been waiting longer than the 'twat in a suit' with a bad case of the grumps. Golden rule: nobody likes a queue jumper (or a twat in a suit). But hey, get down there if you want a darn' good cup of coffee and one of those delicious salty chocolate tarts that is guaranteed to leave chocolate around your mouth and a belly full of happy! read more

Yep, all the other 5 star reviews, if read together, describe this place to a tee. It looks and feels nice, somehow slightly overdone with bikes on the walls (which is okay because I love bikes) but somehow okay despite their wall ornaments. It's smallish but not stifling. They have very welcoming staff that seem to exude just the right amount of cool and friendly, and will chat if you want, or not if you don't. Great snacks, although I've only tasted twice, but more importantly amazing coffee that I haven't been able to fault. It's good for a sit down and given their location also just to grab a cup and run (pay first haha). I try to visit somewhere new when in the city but when in the area of Peel Street I feel guilty going somewhere else, knowing also that I'll pay the same amount but may not get the same quality coffee/snack. read more

The iced coffee here is just coffee with ice in it which is perfect because everywhere else has put ice cream in it up to this point.
