The composition of the dish was well balanced, multi-layered and aesthetically pleasing. We also tried the baked egg with scallops- very savory and hot! Well balanced with the creamy poached eggs and cauliflower purée at the bottom paired with the crunchy pangrattato and crispy bacon. Would definitely order again Delicious!! Their coffee is excellent - super smooth. We were lucky to sit upstairs at the bar seating and witnessed them roasting their own coffee beans. No wonder the coffee is so tasty. I just wish the serving size was bigger so I could have more haha.

The place was very light and airy. We sat on the ground level, but there is also an indoor balcony area and a couple outdoor tables. I was very happy with the bloody Mary, got a good depth of flavor and a moderate spicy level. I LOVED the whipped avo. It was basically a deconstructed avocado toast. The avo was so light and fluffy and tangy, absolutely amazing on its own, but then to pair it with the feta, pickled rhubarb and the beautiful artisan toast - I ate every last crumb and wished there were more.

Blintzes and latkes and Rubens, oh my!…read more Who would have though that Adelaide would deliver on good hearty authentic Jewish comfort food? Heading in for Brunch mid-week, the place was pretty busy (always a good sign!). We quickly ordered the blintzes, lox, a brisket breakfast sandwich and a pot of Barossa Breakfast tea. The brisket was succulent, flavorsome and not even a tiny bit dry, add in the poached egg and it was divine! I didn't try the blintzes as I was afraid that if I did I would never return the plate to the lucky person who ordered them (they looked amazing and from what I was told, tasted like heaven). The bagel (which is what i ordered) wasn't the best I'd ever had however the addition of lox and avocado made a very tasty bite with the right ratio of salmon, cream cheese, pickled onion and capers (at least on the bottom half of the bagel)... it kept me going all afternoon and well into the evening but I think I may have been just a little bit disappointed had I not added the avo as there wouldn't have been enough toppings to go round so I recommend adding the poached egg and/or the avo to this dish if your looking for a heartier meal. All in all, a surprising treat in the city of churches. I look forward to visiting again and hopefully next time bringing my Jewish husband in to enjoy some traditional treats!

This corner block fitout was bright and light with lots of white tiles used throughout. We sat in front of the kitchen where we could see straight in. The kitchen looked messy and cluttered. I think a curtain of some sort would be beneficial here. We were offered table water upon sitting down. Always a thumbs up in my opinion. We perused the extensive menu umming and aahing over all the tasty-sounding dishes. What appealed to me was the amount of home-made goodies they had on offer, from brisket to lox (cured salmon). Most of us settled on the salmon blini and one brisket salad. I ordered a side of toasted bread on the side as well. The presentation was beautiful. Every dish looked delectable and mouthwatering. Taste-wise: it was lovely., but "standard". I didn't taste any point of difference compared to another eatery had I ordered the same or similiar dish. The other ladies enjoyed theirs and so did the lady with the brisket. She said the beef was tender and flavoursome. I want to come back and try another dish, something with their homemade bagels I think.

You can easily drive by looking for something bigger, better, more open but you would be missing out. There's a cafe a little up the road that's also great but targets a different type of customer - I believe these two can co-exist happily. I was in a rush so I bolted in, was welcomed by a friendly bearded young bloke at the counter (with a lady in the kitchen), asked for my standard medium FW and because I didn't want to fumble with the menu, asked what I could snack on other than what was in the display cabinet (which looked fresh and inviting). He offered a toasted egg and bacon sandwich with house relish (oh yes please) and one or two other things but I was already sold (rushing remember). I took a couple of photos & took in the surroundings before my coffee was brought to me. Well crafted, creamy, strong enough, perfect temp with some nutty after tones. It took less than 5 minutes and my sandwich was brought out to me and I left feeling happy. Another five minutes later after I had demolished the sandwich I was even happier. It was delicious with just the right amount of filling and the relish a great flavor They have coffee cards where every 6th is free and my spend was just under $10, also a fair price. Look, I'll be going back and unless I'm mistaken I won't be changing my review. They do have some competition from further up Churchill Rd, from Prospect Rd, and from Jeffcott St, but this is a little gold star cafe in suburbia that aims to please and produces what it produces well enough to please its customers.

Queen Street Café is a great demonstration of a fun creative team. The café itself is very decently sized. Lots of space inside and out. A big long communal table as well if you want to dine alone. During the weekends it does get quite busy, so be sure to get there early. The staff here are friendly and attentive. They are on the look out for when you are ready to order. I think looking back at previous reviews, they are getting better when it comes to service. I ordered the gnocchi with roasted seasonal veg. Lovely pan fried brussel sprouts, roasted pumpkin, spinach, and mushrooms. Best of all, the gnocchi was soooo sooo soft and buttery. Wow, it's been a long time since I have had gnocchi like this. Well done chef! So much flavour in this dish as well. What better to go with a veggie gnocchi than a carrot, orange, and ginger juice. It so so tasty and fresh. I look forward to my next visit Queen Street Cafe!

I don't personally want to have kids charging around in a cafe on the one hand, and in between tables and chairs on the side of a reasonably busy road on the other hand. I don't care how trendy it is and I certainly don't care how many young up and coming professionals are discussing the better stocks to buy since the global financial crisis at brunch; if they have children they should be watching them, especially if they insist on sitting outside next to a reasonably busy street. There is a level train crossing at one end of the block here and that means there are regular periods when several cars will be banked up and suddenly driving through. Half a dozen times I saw kids nearly get toppled by traffic while I was sitting here. I was most alarmed. There's such a great children's playground down the road, all fenced in and beautiful - up here in cafe la la land the adult were so engrossed in the food and conversation they just ignored a few kids who were evidently still in play mode. I have decided the place gets enough custom without me talking about the lovely furniture or the strictly word of mouth policy that the owners have - no business card, no brochure, no website... just word of mouth; well, the word of mouth at my mid morning soiree was "Watch out!" Seriously, I'd rather eat somewhere else and leave all the swank alone.

We have been here for both breakfast and lunch, we were not disappointed. For breakfast we had the quinoa zucchini fritters with poached eggs and bacon. It was delicious, lovely clean fresh flavours and no greasy feel. Even with the bacon! Eggs were poached perfectly it was like creamy flowing lava. It was served with tomato chutney which was I think is house made. Great complement to the dish. At lunch we tried their pulled pork burger, soft brioche bun packed full of well marinated deliciousness that is pork. We've been back since and could not fault this place. Coffees are good too. You are so lucky to be set in such a beautiful little neighbourhood, so close to the industrial train lines but tucked away amongst all those cute Goodwood cottages. The cute embroidered chair cushions and large wooden tables was a nice detail you added to my lunch experience. Although your prices are a little bit more than your standard cafe, the choice you provided was great for lunch. And you must have known I'm a fan of an all day brunch too. My coffee was smooth and lunch of citrus smashed avo on rye with smoked salmon and fetta was fresh and zingy. My dining partner's pulled pork bun with potato salad looked lovely too. Thank you for friendly and speedy service. I look forward to catching up again soon. Best wishes, Chloe
