What a super cute spot in the quiet back streets of Adelaide. I really like the interior here (the wooden spoon roof is very clever) and the outdoor tables make for a relaxing time. Juices served in mason jars and other trendy items appear on the menu. I've been twice now and on my most recent visit I was seriously confused about the process for ordering. Taking a seat outside, I saw others receiving table service but I needed to flag someone down after some time to ask if I ordered inside or out. Turns out that table service IS offered, and a menu was brought over to me. Some time later I had to flag the same staff member down to order and then patiently waited for my selection of mixed Smørrebrød (Danish open sandwiches with simple toppings) ... and I waited. And waited. Until finally after 25 minutes I started to look around curiously to see if other tables had received their meals. Finally after 27 minutes (yes I timed it) the three simply topped pieces of bread were put in front of me. They were beautiful to look at, but both the lashings of butter and the creamy topping were overkill when put together. At $10 for three Smørrebrød they're certainly good value, but the overdose of oil and the seemingly long wait for what was essentially a sandwich left me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The service I received on my previous visit was excellent, so I'm hoping this was an isolated experience as I'd really love to come back to The Project next time I find myself in Adelaide. I'll probably order the Smørrebrød again, hold the butter.

Funky little cafe around the corner from my oral surgeon! I'm not sure if there is more to the name 'The Flinders Street Project' e.g. is there a project involving bringing your own mug to get coffee? or if it simply someone's coffee project they have 'projected' onto Flinders Street? But regardless of the deep meaning of this cafés name - the decor was funky and the coffee GREAT! While waiting inside the cafe, look to the skies and admire the ceiling decked out with what look like little wooden spoons! I had myself a plain butter croissant and a coffee, but I spied a fellow customers dish that looked delicious for brunch, so it would be nice to head back and try some food. I'm interested in asking what the project is, if there is one. I saw a guy come strolling in after me with his own mug from work, so I'm making a guess that they are trying to reduce waste by encouraging customers to bring their own thermos/spotty mug/bucket. Who knows. Free coffee on me to the first Yelper who finds out!

What these guys lack in coffee, they make up for markedly in food and their soul soothing chai. I'm not a huge fan of the coffee beans these guys use unfortunately, and I often find that despite usually opting for a triple shot in my latte, it can still lack the strength and flavour I crave in a good coffee. However, these guys make a mean soy chai latte. Made from tea, and not those horrible sugary powders, this chai is incredibly delicious with warming notes of cinnamon and spice; complimented by a good soy. I've only tried the breakfasts here, but they always satisfy the breakfast beast in me. Delicious smashed Avocado, haloumi, fresh crusty loaves, well poached eggs and large portions make for one happy breakfast punter. The decor is creative, trendy and hip; and has a Melbourne feel. Service is ultra friendly, with table service available to those dining in. A place worth visiting and returning to.

Small cafe with lots of character. Had breakfast there this morning and the croissant pastry with prosciutto and cheese filling was satisfaction. Waiting for my order and looking at my surroundings and notice cool little touches, my eyes glance up to the ceiling and it full of wooden spoons!!! Awesome placement making it look like honeycombs.

But after a few minutes of good service and chilled out vibe I was able to relax. The place to be on The Parade is thanks to that A-Team the Trims family, who are also responsible for the equally buzzy Sparrow and The Manse. All the carry on and hoo haa about this place I reckon is well deserved, coming here is a unique experience and there's nowhere else around quite like it. You get a little drinks card to hang onto so you can order ten dollar glasses of wine and pricey food without having to actually think about how much you're paying. Last time I came here we had fries, which come out on a wooden block with an accompanying bowl of 'aerated ketchup,' which was absolutely delicious. They appear to be fans of aeration, there are also donuts with aerated chocolate sauce, and scallops with aerated almond cream. We all know how Adelaide folk like to get all worked up over new things, and I reckon this place is worth the hype.

For someone like me who gets serious food envy, this place is the place to take any friend, lover or family member who selfishly only ever wants to keep their dish to themselves. Why? Because you can say "well the menu recommends we share..." Giallo Wine Bar has recently been taken over by new management, who also owns Greenway Gallery next door. The setting is intimate and small and the outdoor area would be beautiful in summer. I'm not so sure about the random art pieces in glass cabinets around the restaurant but never mind you'll be too distracted by the menu. Whenever I dine out I try to pack in as many experiences as possible to my meal. As a result I will normally order 3 glasses of different wines rather than a bottle to share. Again, this place is a perfect setting! Go in, say what you feel like and the waiter will bring you something new and different to try. They have an amazingly diverse wine list that doesn't just stock from SA - that excites me. Their share plates are not big, but the richness and intensity of flavours mean that 3 or 4 plates + a salad for 2 is plenty. My favourite dishes were the scallops with a white bean puree and crisp pancetta or their Gawler River quail with caramalised pear and sherry vinegar. The blend of ingredients meant there were many oo's and ah's had with each bite. Service was wonderful and very efficient and there was never a moment our wine glasses or water was empty. Don't be on a budget when going here and please don't complain that the meals are too small. Sharing is caring people and stop being a greedy guts!

I had no idea as it is only stairs downstairs and it's not a raging nightlife area, particularly for younger people. The Norwood scene is a little more casual, up market and quieter. I usually only go there for tea and the movies, not to stay around on weekend nights and party. But a wine bar is a cool idea, especially on a great corner in the middle of The Parade. I have been to Maxims for a party function or two, and they were pretty good. It's quite cosy so feels full and you don't have to move around too much. The bar is big enough, with ample staff to keep up with the demand. Maxims has a small outdoor balcony area (very small), and it can be closed off so almost be indoors. But only 4 or 5 people will really fit out there. There are toilets, lounges, TVs and lights to make it perfect for a function. The one thing I find funny about Maxims -there is an obvious stripper pole smack bang in the middle of the dance floor area, which is always the centre of attention and the feature of many photos.

The manager was really helpful and she settled for a Friday night as it was less expensive (still pretty pricey to hire though!). There's a $30 cake fee if intend to bring your own and they do provide finger food which will be brought around by one of the employees throughout the night. You can play your own music and slideshows too. I didn't talk to the manager personally, I just remember seeing him talk a bit rudely to the bartenders and it seemed a bit unprofessional. The woman behind the bar was lovely and joked around with us. It was a young girl's first shift and she was really lovely too. The only things that were a little off putting were: a) The very obvious stripper pole which is placed in the middle of the room. This wasn't mentioned anywhere. My housemate wanted 'classy' and with the fluro pink lights which outline the ceiling on half of the room, it brings the class-o-meter down a little! and, b) Because I'm vegan, my housemate asked them to make something vegan for me and they agreed. When I asked on the night, they said no one had told them! My housemate definitely did, so we were a bit annoyed about that. Luckily the spring rolls turned out to be "accidentally" vegan, so I didn't go home too hungry! My experience wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. With what my housemate's parents paid to hire the place, I just expected it to be in my top 5 at least.
