    Kingfish Crudo

Dining at this restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip. The restaurant is gorgeous with design and decor that makes you feel like you are in italy. The food was amazing. We had the kingfish crudo, the polenta, and the crispy potatoes. Our bartender was also part of the experience and made us feel so special. Highly recommend!!

Came here as it was listed in the top 100 in Australia. It was good, but not amazing, especially for the price. A popular spot for the local business crowd, it was jam packed with suits by 12.30. It does have a very cool, modern looking bar and might be a nice spot to grab a drink after work. We had a parmesan flan to start, which was creative and delicious. We devoured it in under 1 min! As for the pasta, we had a carbonara and squid ink spaghetti. Presentation on both was nice, the squid ink lacked flavor but looked very pretty. The carbonara was salty and creamy and served with a raw egg yolk on top, quite delicious. It's just a little hard to justify $85 for two pastas, a starter and no drinks... Good but not worth the $$ Another thing to keep in mind is it gets incredibly loud, you can listen to your neighbors conversation easily and we missed the specials because the group next to us were quite loud. Also there is a constant scraping and vibration across the floor of chairs. I think its the raised tiling. Oh, and if you have little ones, skip it. Not a single high chair in the place. They claimed it didn't work with their seating, but they have two long share benches and a range of booths all at normal height...

I had celery salad as main, my friend had pasta. Only one or two dish for vegetarian people, but disappointed about this, but my friend said pasta was really good. I guess this place good for pasta people

Last-minute decision to have dinner here on a Monday evening with the family. Managed to book a table even though it was busy. Great decor. Shared bench table I'm the main eating area. They also have small booths for groups of 5 or 6 people. Menu is Italian. Our teen boys didn't quite understand all of the menu. Neither did we to be honest. Our waiter was very helpful and made suggestions. Service was excellent with food coming out quickly. Wide variety of wines available and if u want to just have drinks there is a seated bar area. Food was top quality. Couldn't fault any of it. The best thing to do is to share small plates of entrees and then 1 or 2 mains as its not the cheapest restaurant. That said it's highly quality and our total bill including drinks for 4 of us (3 adults had 1 wine and teens had 1 soft drink each) was about $180

Popular, and for good reason. Oggi  (is that Oggi with a soft G or a hard G?!) has now been around for a while in a newly fitted corner of Pirie Street and Coromandel Place. It has its loyal group of business people and foodies alike who frequent here and if you're willing to spend a decent amount of coin, you'll get what you pay for. It can be a bit slow at peak times (although when we ate there last we had such a wonderful time with exquisite hands on and quick! service). And at peak times it can get a bit loud so maybe not the best choice for a romantic dinner for two. But great for groups if they like a little noisy carry-on! I've eaten a few different pastas here which were all good and the roast pork with sides and taters was to-die-for! An ecclectic wine and drinks list from SA and around the world makes a classy, decadent night sparkle as well. Finally, i am impressed by the way the restaurant is designed like a very classy Nonna's kitchen, and the bathrooms look great too. Don't forget to book on Friday or Saturday night as they are normally full to boot!

Another fine brainchild from the Andy Davies team (Think Press * Food and Wine, Proof Bar etc.) This time, it's an Italian themed Restaurant. The setting is beautifully modern with a light airy feel but all class. (food review later as I coudn't get it (yes it was already booked out for lunch)

My bf had the blue swimmer crab pasta and I had the squid ink pasta and both were AMAZING! We also got a salad which was just plain. Wouldn't get the salad again. The bread is also good and they do a donation thing for the bread where they charge you a $1 or something per person. They will remove it off the bill if you don't want to donate but why would you. Can't wait to go back again next time we are in Adelaide!

From the previous reviews I was expecting my meal to blow my mind but only found it ok. I also felt the service when I walked in slow and took them a while to collect my order, but once they did the food followed quickly. My order was the oxtail gnocci.

Great interior & fantastic food! Very satisfied!

One of my favourite (if not the favourite) Italian restaurants in Adelaide. Great decor, atmosphere and great food! Had the squid ink pasta & blue swimmer crab pasta, both were fantastic.

The service was great - there was no rush for us to leave and we spent hours sitting there and enjoying our food. We ordered antipasto and then three different pastas to share and had them staggered throughout the night so we could fit more food in! We enjoyed the fried sausage meat and bread (MUST HAVE) as well as the tasting plate which was overflowing with delicious offerings. Then we enjoyed gnocchi con pomodoro, penne con salsicce and linguine tutto mare my favourite was the tutto mare (a must for any seafood pasta fan)! We kept our drinks traditional with Bellinis and Chinotto with vodka (apparently its a thing!) Can't wait to head back again and work my way through the menu!

I've dined in their small function room; a teensy little quiet space at the back of the restaurant and also in their restaurant before a night at the theatre and both times I've walked away wondering if I'm going to the same place everyone in Adelaide raves about all the time? Meals are incredible value and a main course will feed 2 people. You can order an entree size of almost everything though (even though that's not mentioned on the menu). Both times I've dined here on a pasta and a risotto dish) I've found the food to be incredibly salty and otherwise pretty plain in flavours. Salt, cheese, and maybe another herb. Little things like undercooked pumpkin in a dish and too few prawns in a risotto were also a bit disappointing. I've dined at quite a few spots that can make a simple napoletana pasta taste like angel's tears but unfortunately I'm yet to be convinced here. The service here is incredibly quick but often feels rushed and a little intense as a result. It's a great place to bring a group as you can actually hear each other even when it is buzzing with theatre of footy goers. Do make sure you book in advance though and don't eat lunch beforehand!

Other than Ambrosini's this is the only other one in the area and as Ambrosini's is Northern Italian I prefer this place (they do dishes from all over Italy). OK, the photo of the 'Nonna' in the marketing is dressed in an Eastern European outfit and I'm pretty sure the chef wasn't Italian (stop press, he's half Italian) but he was sure trained in Italy as this place is like being in Italy and everything is made from scratch not out of a tin like the cafes on the parade. Simply because of the shops name, I'll say this, Roco knows how to make very decent pizza and pasta. Now, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of baked potatoes so I'm unable to comment on what they're like, but if the rest of their food is anything to go off of, I'm sure they're grandtastic! However, this IS just another one of those Austro-Italian fast fooderies, but strangely enough there aren't many in Rundle Mall. At all really.

Think of pizza, meets pasta, then add spuds to the mix. This is Roco. And they sure know how to make a good-tasting pizza! (Yum!) I used to always come here for lunch with my ex-girlfriends, so it's definitely a great date spot. Ahh...I remember those times. If you're in need of some great tasting and looking pizza, I always think of this place first in Rundle Mall! I looked up the meaning of 'Roco' on the net: it is of German and Italian origin, and its meaning is "rest". A common form of the name of a popular saint who cured plague victims, and eventually gained fame in Italy. Rundle Mall can get quite busy, crazy and hot, so I certainly felt restful sitting down, having a break, eating their food in the food court - especially after you wash two slices down with cold water! The owner is super friendly and cool to everyone who arrives, yet I'm not really digging their customer service attendants. They're awfully quiet, don't say a word, and seems to be more concerned about serving you in a hurry and then snatching your cash away from your hands. So that was a slight turn-off for me. Apart from that, if you're craving Italian pizza or pasta, just try this place. Look for their red and white signage to guide your way. This is a much cheaper alternative to the more pricey cafes in Rundle Street. Roco, you're good, and you can solve anyone's hunger problems, so rock on!

My wife's ravioli was a large serving but the sauce was lacking in flavor and seemed like a simple tomato paste. My tortellini with cream sauce was separated when it arrived at the table and even after I added a lot of salt and pepper and about 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese was still lacking in flavor. The bright and eager staff overshadowed the drab and bland indoor decoration, but I quickly decided to take my coffee outside where I'd have the pulsing rhythm of the traffic to complement my drink. I ordered my usual long macchiato and I'd barely had time to forget ordering it (as often happens when one sits down and loses oneself in reflections of obscenities hurled by unsavoury characters on bus rides into the city, as had taken place that morning) before it was set in front of me. It has become the trend for some cafés to serve short coffees in little mugs, but part of the macchiato's charm is in its three levels of coffee, milk and froth. That balance of shade and colour needs to be shown off, not hidden behind coloured ceramic. I'm jolly well happy to report that the three levels are displayed proudly here at Passatempo, and that the quality and taste of the coffee is befitting of the appearance. If the name and the Italian flag draped across the menu is no indication, allow me to acknowledge the café's Italian theme. The menu corresponds as you'd expect it to, with a selection of pastas, pizzas, calzones and all the rest. The meals are perhaps a little more expensive than your typical café, approaching the prices you'd find at a restaurant, but the servings are large and take full advantage of plate space. If you're looking for a quick, cheap meal, perhaps it'd be best to tiptoe over to Chinatown's food plaza. If, however, you're sick of the Asian cuisine, Passatempo's a fine alternative.

From home made sausage (literally a pig is brought in every week and made into the good stuff for the week), simply seasoned ribs and of course pizza. The food is made Calabrese style, in light of the owner Peter's heritage (also owner of Zucca at the Bay). It is for that reason everything here feels like it has been made with passion, romance, amoré and a special kind of moorish Italian spice. Even more impressive is the gluten free pizza option here. No more feeling like you're eating cardboard, nor feeling bloated and heavy after a meal. Our gluten eating friends were not savvy enough to pick the difference!
