Popped into this place between gin drinking and a cabaret for a quick bite. We were greeted promptly and after advising we only had a short time to eat were told it wouldn't be a problem. The tables were booked, and we were directed to sit at the end of the bar. The menu was given to us, we declined alcoholic drinks and were given water and the glasses were topped up regularly. We ordered two pizzas and they were delivered to us with two plates, serviettes and cutlery. The pizzas were delicious as the thin base was cooked to perfection, and quality ingredients very tasty. Loved the chilli (not too much) and topped with fresh veg (lavishings of fennel) so it makes it a healthy pizza doesn't it? Once our bill was paid, we were told to have a good night at the cabaret. Another GOOD eatery here in the city. The Waymouth Precinct now has a few. Press* next door and now Melt Pizzaria. With a modern styling inside and some street seating, it's good for all weather and group sizes. Melt specialises in 'thin crust' Pizzas and Tapas, and the do it well. I chose to have the Duck Calzone.. and yes YUMM. light crust, rich filling. well worth it. I'll have to go again for sure to try some tapas next time. read more

Had a most disappointing scenario for lunch today. It was a long overdue farewell lunch for a colleague with 12 of us attending. The restaurant was packed with big long tables of diners both upstairs and downstairs. No doubt everyone is on an hour lunch break, unfortunately our table would have been the last of the big party. We were on the set menu lunch at $29pp and little nibbles came out after our call for lunch to commence. That was at least 15 minutes wait for the first dish to arrive. Then 3 other 'smalls' followed. No complains, food was good but waiting staff was not the best. She overflowed the glasses of water 3 different times! One was literally flowed onto the table whereby she had to soak it up with the napkin. Was she not looking at what she was doing? Then the wait and we had been there for more than an hour by now and the pizzas still waiting to be served. Some of us had appointments back in the office and the staff had the cheek to say they didn't know we were pushed for time?! Restaurant situated right in the CBD with office workers around and most of us were dressed for work with some men in suits and they can't assess that we had to get back to work? Salads were served and we devoured them in seconds. Another 5 minutes gone by and finally the pizzas arrived all packed up to take away as per request. I was most disappointed not being able to sample the different varieties whilst they are hot out of the oven! Hence no comments on the pizzas. It took me 20 minutes to head home with my box of pizza, and unfortunately it was stone cold by the time I ate a couple of pieces. I was so very looking forward to trying out the different varieties of pizzas which I heard so much about and I can't even review them as I didn't get to sample them all, what a disappointment, not sure if there would be another chance. read more

As a 3pm walking on a week day, this place surprises. Excellent menu board and workable wine list. We went for the Pork Larb - minced pork, ground rice, chilli and herbs $15 along with the Baked Gnocchi - peas, pesto cream and spinach $14 teamed with the Hummus - with ground lamb and pine nuts $13. Three perfectly executed dishes. Lovely separated flavours, particularly the Gnocchi. If you are in Waymouth St around lunchtime this is the place. The pizzas here are creative and delicious, and the tapas are also quite good (mmm, grilled halloumi). I had the pizza with potatoes on it...I think they might've gone slightly overboard with the Herbs de Provence, but other than that, it was fantastic. Melt is my go-to place any time I have a large group or am finding it difficult to decide where to go - it is a real people pleaser and never fails to impress. The "Share Table" is great value at $37 p/head for dinner for an amazing selection of tapas, pizza, salad and even dessert! If you select this option they are also very accommodating of dietary requirements and will find something for everyone! I've never left hungry, and there is always food left over. Melt is well known for its pizzas but I'm always impressed by the tapas selection also which changes regularly and is displayed on a giant chalk board. The green beans with chilli are outstanding! I can't write a review without mentioning the outstanding dessert pizza I had on my last visit - dark chocolate and pistachio! So delicious!! read more

Melt is always a safe bet if you are looking for a nice and tasty pizza, never been disappointed at any of their locations, they are hugely popular and bookings are essential, don't expect to walk in and get a table, we saw quite a few people turned away with no booking or space available. It's great that they are popular but this does mean they can be quite noisy once there is a full house, but this is nothing we aren't familiar with popular places. read more

Honestly, never EVER going back. Our food was 55 minutes late. The waiter came to us after 45 minutes saying that he screwed up and added our order to another persons table. The restaurant wasn't busy when we placed our order and for him to tell us after 45 minutes that he screwed up was ridiculous. Plus they made us pay full price for 4 pizzas. No drinks. No appetizers. No desserts. Just 4 pizzas. I think it's ridiculous as we spent quite a lot of money. I would not recommend going to melt to anyone. read more

Melt is one of those easy-to-make-choices when you're dining with friends. I've organised a few large group meals here and the experience has always been great. One: staff make it easy to book. Two: prices are great. Three: there's plenty of food for everyone. (The food's scrumptious too, but it's always a bonus when you can truly lean back and groan with a full, happy stomach!) The wait staff are approachable and friendly. We had a Hen's Night dinner here and forgot a few items for a fun quiz and Melt's staff were happy to run around and find them for us. Remember last Saturday when you were gallivanting through town and got turned down by restaurants that had an hour waiting time? Melt came to the rescue to these three pilgrims, sat at the bar and enjoyed some pizzas (shrimp and potato), salad (pear and rocket) and a small plate (Haloumi) with a Spanish temp/grenache. The potato pizza was heavy and flavorless, salad had double extra vinegar and the Haloumi saved the day. Friendly staff but not very attentive. I was not expecting much but far from blown away. Goodlife has always been my personal choice for pizza, but Melt is slowly catching on to me. Its thin crust pizza, tapas and desert menu are quite impressive. The decor is stylish and modern. A friend came down from Melbourne and was impressed with its chicness, saying "Wow, Adelaide's really catching up." Although I narrowed my eyes, offended, I was secretly pleased that such a place showcased Adelaide's competence in contemporary dining and cuisine. We ordered the pumpkin pizza and a few tapas to start off with. Everything was delicious, cooked to perfection and well-presented. The extensive wine list tops off a great meal, and although Melt is an upper scale pizzeria, it's still chilled and relaxed. Think neat casual. I love melt and their ability to pull off different flavour combinations. Sometimes I get so sick of sticking to the usual ham and pineapple. I want something different! That's usually about the time I head over to melt to try one of their yummy pizzas. My favourites? Without a doubt the chocolate and pistachio pizza. It is a must for any chocolate lover, though it will leave you feeling sick as it is super sweet. I also love the scallop pizza (scallops on a pizza you say? Most "trendy" restaurants are built around a premise of indulgence and meat. The skills of the chef and intrigue of the menu are centred around how well the former can turn a piece of animal flesh into something fancy to look at, tasty to eat and worthy of the price. Vegetarians are becoming increasingly gratified with the rise of tarts, goats curd and cheeses with verbose French names. It is because of this that getting a decent vegan dish is so difficult. It's not as simple as modifying a vegetarian option. The foundations of vegetarian food in these places is dripping in dairy and without it you're left with, well, not a lot. I have walked past Melt a million times. Always a warm-looking, bustling kind of place, I vowed to one day visit. If only they could cater for vegans. The time had come and I phoned ahead. Angela, who answered, acted as though it would be too easy to cater for a couple of vegans. Wasn't expecting that. Reassured I was. We arrived. We were greeted with beaming smiles and that at-ease sort of service you expect and love. We were given the best table in the house. Well, we thought so. An intimate setting for two with a view of the street. We were watered up in no time. Not just tap water. Filtered tap water with mint. Nice touch. Wine. We opted for something a bit different. A German riesling. I knew nothing about German wines but knew this one, the Loosen Bros "Dr L" 2011, was vegan. A good starting point at the very least. Thank you Barnavore. Verdict: Interesting. It had almost a sparkling texture. The sensation on the tongue was like that of S.Pellegrino. It also had the buttered toasty note you get with it. Recommended. Food. We opted for a couple of tapas and a pizza to share. The tapas: hommus with warm pita and green beans sautéed in olive oil, garlic and chilli. The hommus was one of the best I have tried. Creamy and nutty, with plenty of sweet paprika, parsley and olive oil on top. The green beans were as fresh as could be, liberally treated with sea salt, garlic and chilli to take them up a notch. Piece of pita smeared with hommus, a couple of green beans on top with plenty of the garlic and chilli oil: a delectable mouthful. The pizza was near perfection. Way better than Goodlife. It comprised of a crispy thin base, rich tomato sauce, caramelised onion, sweet potato crisps, pine nuts and a swag of other things I forget. You could be forgiven for thinking it was a bad case of topping overload. It wasn't. It balanced well. The caramelised onion playing a vital roll in bringing all the flavours together with its sticky-sweetness. Two of us had a great feed for $95 including a mid-range bottle of wine. That's damn good in my book. But the price, nor food or wine could be judged alone. The whole experience guaranteed this place as a regular haunt. Vegans--go there! read more

The rain came down tonight, and winter officially starts tomorrow, but the cold weather is a good excuse to check out some of the more carbolicious (I know, not a word, but should be!) eateries around town. Hello, Melt. If I ever am in a position where I know I'm having my last meal on earth it WILL be the creamy gnocchi and pea tapas, the puoncho pizza (roast pumpkin, pinenuts, parsley oil) washed down with the Hedonist shiraz. I can't gush enough about the fluffy gnocchi, or the superthin crust on the pizza, or the way the flavours played together. So good. So SO good. The missing star is because, well, it IS noisy, and I don't like shouting at my friends (especially when they've done nothing wrong!). It may be that Melt is a little too popular for its own good - you have to commit to a sitting session on a Friday night (we were there from 6-8), and they certainly pack a reasonable number of people in the room. But then, the prices are pretty reasonable given the quality of the food - as a friend once said to me "you pay for quiet" - so maybe the trick might be to go there outside of peak eating times. Definitely stop by when you are on Waymouth St, and best to book ahead for weekend evenings. read more

The food is ok but the service is terrible. They can manage small tables/ couples but the few times I have been there in group bookings they make mistakes, forget orders and avoid the table & stand at the bar chatting. Ideally in hospitality if you have a large table you would ensure that each person is attended to get the most out of the table but we had to continue to waive hands in the air for service & such a beautiful resturaunt they should make consious effort to be customer focussed to allow correct ambience is achieved not having to yell out to waiters for service whilst they stand behind the bar chatting. read more

Melt is known for its pizzas, however the selections on offer are more extensive, and so, you will not be starved of options. Wine lovers and tapas enthusiasts will also undoubtedly be pleased. No matter what you order, Melt boasts a level of impressiveness. Their menu is unique and stylish, with presentation always impeccable. Yet despite the great food presentation and attention to detail, Melt is still a fairly relaxed place to dine. If the city is a bit inconvenient for your lunch or dinner ventures, then perhaps try the original Melt and its sister store in Hyde Park. As mentioned their pizzas are half the rave and I think this comes down to two reasons. The first being their well-presented and unusual flavours, and the second being the desert pizza. If there is one thing you must try at Melt, it's the chocolate and pistachio dessert pizza. So delicious. That solely is the reason why I will return. read more

It pulls off the hip atmosphere without trying too hard, just observing the décor you can sense the funkiness oozing from the walls. There is also a fine tapas menu, the grilled green beans with chilli is a must for heat seekers. Now the Chocolate and Pistaciso pizza was something out of this planet. I love the food, but won't be patronising Melt again. Pity, but the guy who tells me he's the owner lacks common courtesy and customer service skills. In fact I found him rude and aggressive. I had the black muscles ( new on menu). I found it disappointing because the muscles were very small. In fact I've not be served such 'tiny' muscles in a restaurant before. When he came over I told him that I really love Melt Tapas , but that I found this dish disappointing. Clearly the guy doesn't know how to receive feedback. He was immediately defensive and told me that it's only Tapas. I told him that I understand Tapas food portions and that I'm merely expressing my opinion on this dish. The perfect place to feed a crowd! If there are over 8 people eating you can abandon all effort and ask for the fixed menu - tapas, then pizza and salad, then dessert pizza. $37.50 a head - for one of the BEST casual meals in town. All the food is excellent. (The green beans in garlic and chilli have now become an essential part of my diet.) The pizza are varied and delicious. The dessert pizza (we had chocolate and pistachio) memorable. In addition this place offers a great range of interesting beers and wines by the glass (and staff who can talk intelligently about both). It has a funky feel - and proper old fashioned service (water glasses filled, tables cleared promptly, a warm good night as you leave).
