Located in the gorgeous foot hills setting within Newman's Nursery in Tea Tree Gully, I love everything about this Cafe! The guys here pride themselves on providing fresh food prepared daily from either their edible garden or locally sourced products. Supporting local is an added bonus as the food here is so delicious. I've only tasted the breakfasts and afternoon tea here so far, but each time I visit, I leave with a very happy tummy! Service is usually good and can't say that I've ever had a disappointing experience here. The pretty surrounds make for a relaxing start to your weekend.

Did afternoon tea (not the high tea) with a girlfriend, mid winter. I ordered duck rillette & she ordered banana bread with marscapone & lemon curd on the side. Both offerings were gorgeous, home made goodness. Was a busy Saturday afternoon crowd, but service was fine. Cosy, quaint setting, amidst lovely gardens which would be even lovelier in better weather. Perfect food. Charming location, summer or winter. 5 stars from me.

Don't let the small unassuming cafe sign in a nursery fool you - this restaurant serves up some killer inventive combos that leaves anything you see on Masterchef for dust. They make everything here, from the ricotta, to the bread to picking herbs from their own garden on premises. Chef has come up with a fantastic menu - and I will never see Breakfast in the same light ever again. I want to come back for their high tea - we went on a Tuesday morning for a late breakfast and it was packed. Certainly a hidden little gem!

The perfect long lunch location. This amazing restaurant is located within a beautiful garden centre in the pioneer settlement area of Teatree Gully. It actually is in the Gully opposite a national park with walking trails. The garden centre owners son prepares modern Australian fine food which takes time to prepare. The food is stunning and features some daring fusions utilising fresh local produce. The outdoor garden setting is quiet and beautiful. Don't confuse it with the Topiary pantry down the road.

So much is amazing at this little place but I just love their take on eggs benedict.

Everything here is just lovely and tates really good. Service is always fantastic, coffee is outstanding and there are beautiful fresh things in the menu. Come during the day and wander around the nursery at the bottom of the foothills for total bliss.

But there they are, just to the right of the sliding door entrance to Newton Plaza. From the looks of things, they are worth finding too, as they had a nice crowd at 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon. But with plenty of seating, it was no problem to get a quiet little table in the corner. Inside its pretty amazing. On centre stage is a large, very fancy coffee roaster. That's a good sign that the coffee will be good and freshly roasted, but more on that later. Looking around, you'll see a variety of old grinders, percolators and other coffee paraphernalia on display, along with a great selection of cups and stove-top espresso makers. A big surprise is a huge selection of leaf teas! Not so big a surprise is a huge selection of freshly roasted coffee beans with choices from all over the world. On display at the ordering counter are lots of panini and focaccia style light bites and sweet cakes and muffins. A large coffee beverage menu shares equal space with a tea menu and ordering proved to be a pleasant experience with the cheerful staff on board. I had a latte and a cheese danish. I am, how do I say it...picky about my coffee. So, looking for a word that sums up what they brought to me, I come up with AWESOME!. Smooth and flavourful, it was coffee made as the gods above meant it to be. The danish was very good too, but oh man, the coffee was wowsers. Will I be back? The short answer is yes. In fact I am due back here Saturday morning as this is the start point for a Yelp-led safari of the Campbelltown environs. But I'll be back after that for sure too. Eat, drink and be merry, but not too much! JD

I don't know why but Java reminds me of another Adelaide gem - Lucia's in the Central Market. Java has the same retro (unintentional) 70's style. This local well kept secret has to be "the business" by the number of local Italian identities frequenting on a daily basis. Java makes me feel like I've stepped into a cafe on the back streets of Naples or Rome - it's not flash, hipster or trendy but it provides an absolutely essential service to the community - consistently exceptional coffee. Well worth making the trip to Newton on the weekend if you're not a local as they now have a breakfast menu 7.30-11.00 am (get there early - this place is buzzing from mid morning on). They also sell a delectable range of Italian dolci plus freshly baked enormous muffins. Although I haven't tried the teas they have an excellent range of blends and I am assured that Mario has taken the same care in selection as he does roasting his coffee beans.

It's in a pleasant area, & the staff are very accommodating. Tip.. You can buy whole sweet-homemade pies to takeaway too (their cherry pie is to die for... Add cream & you're in heaven). They do deals, such as a food + hot drink + slice of cake deals which I personally took advantage of.. $13 for a tuna-potato pie, a dirty chai (which if you've never heard of it is a mix of coffee & chai-latte) & a slice of baked cherry cheesecake. They were amazing... I'm not kidding ... Amazing! You can order a selection of hot pastries, cold or toasted rolls, coffee & other hot & cold drinks, & a million varieties of cakes, slices & biscuits. I visited here with my folks who opted for a toasted gourmet roll & a single serve apple pie (I snuck a bit, as did they of mine. Delicious!). While we waited (which wasn't long) they also had free choc n macadamia or Anzac or double choc biscuits stating take one ... I don't know of any other place that offers a quality good sized biscuit while you wait! I will come back here again for sure!
