Really enjoyed my first visit to The Italian Place today. Service was quick and efficient, and the…read moreprices of the food and drink was very competitive. They catered well for our large group, bringing orders promptly and not messing any of them up. The decor is very Italian delicatessan slash cafe and is just lovely. There's a huge range of foodstuffs for sale to take home as well as fresh baked breads, salads, pastries, deserts, savouries and more. There's also a fantastic Italian Vespa on display inside. The French vanilla flat white coffee I had was quite possibly the best I've had in a VERY long time, and at $3.40, cheaper than a lot of other places. I also tried the almond tart which was impossible to resist, and I was not disappointed, it was incredibly delicious and not overly sweet, just right. Overall, this is a great place for a coffee and cake stop, or even a coffee stop. And while you're at it, grab some fresh bread or other things to take home! I'll definitely be back.

Is it a bakery? Is it a delicatessen? Well yes but it's also a cafe/pizza bar!…read more Some Sunday nights (check FB for more details: https://www.facebook.com/TheItalianPlace) they host pizza nights and for $25.00 (yes, twenty five dollars) you get to sit among the shelves of pasta, tomato pieces and every type of pickled vegetable and enjoy antipasto (freshly sliced from behind the counter), pizza (all you can eat), dessert and coffee/tea. The all you can eat pizza is an unusual concept because you don't have to finish the pizza to get a new one. We ate a half a seafood pizza before moving on to another and finished half of that and the leftovers were put in a box for us to bring home! You don't really order anything its more of a "get what you are given" scenario which is good for us indecisive people because you don't have to agonise over the menu trying to make a decision. Desserts are baked in house and the snowflake/hazelnut one we had was amazing but again they just bring out whatever dessert they want and you just enjoy. To top is all off the house wine is pretty cheap so a very inexpensive night out!

After hearing and reading some negative reviews I thought it would be good to check this new place…read moreout and had friends gather for a Monday morning coffee. There were 5 of us and each square table only fits 4 comfortably. A carpark is available and just as well as most on road parks in the side road were taken due to the number of businesses in the street. Upon trying to enter the store the sliding doors from the carpark weren't opening and had to take a side door entrance after a friends gestures I could see through the glass. They didn't have a sign on the doors and other friends that arrived had to walk around to the front entrance as we didn't see them to let them know. The store has lots of produce from cheeses, hams, pizza, salads, hot delicacies, gelati and cakes. The salad choice is amazing and all looked scrumptious although I thought the pricing is a bit steep. Then again, there was freshly roasted pork with crackling that was a bargain, so the prices are a real mix. My coffee came with a lovely St Pat's shamrock pattern and the $3 coffee was decent too. I purchased a triangular savoury (more suited to lunch than breakfast). Even though it doesn't come with Napolitana sauce the lady offered a bit on the side to try. My savoury was delivered warm and the sauce (a little runny but tasty) in a little jug so I could pour myself. The savoury triangle was a mix of spaghetti in a creamy sauce and covered in crumbs. It was big and a bargain at $3.50. My only disappointment was that they don't do breakfast (yet). Staff were very pleasant. I'll be back once the breakfast menu is up and running.

I popped in to buy a few salads and pasta sauces for a lunch in hosting tomorrow. While there I…read morenoticed the great looking breakfast on offer and on impulse decided to order with a coffee. I was disappointed. All but the toast and spinach was served cold. I will not be eating in again. However the salads as usual were great.

A new cafe in an old corner grocery store has breathed life back into a sad little shop…read more We went there for a Friday morning coffee (opens at 830) and 3 hours later we were still there after our 2nd cups/pots of tea that pour seemingly endless cups (ok..maybe 3). It's advertised as a cooking school, cafe and "stuff" venue, and is starting slowly with openings just Mon - Friday until 4pm, but they have events coming up, and have various cooking opportunites, including classes for kids - so keep up to date on https://www.facebook.com/FiveLittleFigs. The breakfasts that were served looked generous and delicious, and they have gluten, wheat and vegan food on offer and it looks fresh and sumptuous...next time! They cater to children, so if you're worried about young people playing (and crying) - don't come! I see this as a refuge for parents who want to meet their friends while their kids can draw on the chalk board or have something to eat at their own table. Support a new local, or pop out of your way for a quirky, delicious cafe.

We asked for a menu and sat down and noticed the menu was pretty much a standard breakfast menu minus the healthier or more foodie special options befitting a gourmet cooking school. So I went up to order and after we ordered I noticed there was a specials board (which you wouldn't necessarily expect to see for breakfast) which was hidden from view from the dining area. Luckily it had one green Juice and two healthier more interesting breakfast options so we changed our order. It's surprising they didn't direct us to the menu board when we were given the menu. The green juice was excellent, and so was the mushrooms on toast. The creamed oats were not too creamy, just right. The coffee was terrible, the worst I have seen for a while. A 'flat white' is normally not literally white! The 'crema' on the top was white with not a tinge of brown and it tasted over milky as well.

Royston Park Cafe, you had me at boozy brunch! Oh yes, this café offers a very impressive brunch…read moremenu accompanied with a range of alcoholic bevvys so either start your weekend right or fight that hangover. This is definitely one of those "word of mouth" cafés that the locals hoard to themselves. Well, not anymore! I am making a record for others to enjoy Royston Park residents! Sorry! In the backstreets of Royston Park, just near Marden Shopping Centre you will find this café. There is a lot of seating, inside and out. Best part is that doggies are welcome. The menu here is large and customisable. I was instructed to order the Tagliolini with blue swimmer crab and salsa rosa. But, with the addition of a poached egg ontop (Thank you Jordan G.). To which I answered, hells yeah pasta for brunch! Gimmie! The pasta itself was really well made. Fresh, homemade and cooked well. What I liked about the rosa sauce and crab as that it complimented the pasta. Just as it is served traditionally. So, as if it was not the centre stage of the dish, it brings it all together. The sauce was creamy, the crab was flaked and evenly portioned through the pasta. What a great flavour! Blue Crab is something that is truly worth celebrating in Australia. It works so well in a dish like this. Well done chef! I did need to add a bit more seasoning, but that could just be my salt inclined palate. Finally, I can see why Jordan likes that poached egg ontop, it just gives an extra depth and richness to the dish. As for the café, you want to get in early. They don't take bookings. This place seems to get packed out, even though it is hidden away from the main streets. But, do know that if you have to wait for a table, it's worth it!

The owners seem genuinely nice and happy to have you there. Great service! Coffees were delivered fast and hot hot hot! Very smooth coffee, although I did add a sugar to sweeten. I ordered the eggs-your-way on toast (my way = scrambled) with mushrooms and spinach, for a very nice price of $12.90. I did need some bacon though, which was an extra $4 (which I find a bit steep) but the portion size was very generous. My partner in crime got the big breakfast with.....2 fried eggs, sourdough toast, homemade baked beans, tomato, spinach, mushrooms, bacon and sausage! What a mouthful (literally!) ! I found the food delicious. Maybe slightly oily (the spinach) but overall I was really satisfied and full to the brim. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and as it was such a lovely sunny day, we sat outside. Only downside for me would be its on the corner of a road, so cars go past a bit, and there is a big Telstra public phone box right in front of outdoor seating area. Which they can't help, but it would be nice to enjoy the leafy street without that in your eyesight. It's a fairly quiet & peaceful street though, with lots of puppy dogs and their owners strolling past. Overall - a lovely place for breakfast! Thank you!
