Food is amazing, staff are friendly, and location and decor is just perfect. 10/10 recommend

I live in San Diego but we were on the way to LA and stopped by here for a breakfast. It's a cute little cafe with a ocean view. I had vegetarian quiche and my husband ordered breakfast croissant. My quiche was good but I prefer to be a bit of dense. I also ordered almond croissant and asked them to heat it up but they didn't have a toaster which I found it to a bit odd giving it's a bakery place. Nonetheless it was good. They also had some classic French cakes which looked very good but I didn't get a chance to try them. What a nice hidden gem, was not expecting a legit French bakery in SoCal! I tried the croissant, almond croissant, nutella crepe, and chocolate hazelnut dessert. The croissant was legit! Super fluffy and moist on inside and nice and flakey and crisp on the exterior. The crepe was also very yummy! Made to order! Can't beat that! The chocolate hazelnut mini cake was very good too. Chocolate was so deep in flavor and not too sweet. The candied hazelnut balls was a nice texture crunch to complement the mini cake. I would order that again! The staff there were speaking French to each other! It's very legit! Parking could be tricky but we went on weekday and it wasn't too bad but I could imagine it being a hot mess to find parking here! The food is so good here. It is a takeout spot as well as a place to hangout. I have just stopped in to grab pastries for hosting as well as lunch for my family. I haven't had anything I don't like and the staff is very friendly. read more

Every thing was really good except for one dessert (see picture) but everything else was delicious and the services is magnificent. I got the salmon seared fish and it knocked me out of the park, super moist and the skin was crispy. Will definitely come back for and the price is not too expensive for that slab of salmon. I just love the bread and desserts here! Their apple turnover are amazing! The baguette perfectly crunchy and the service wonderful! Delicious sandwiches and a cute little shop of European goodies! We had a horrible experience and unsatisfied service. Sandwiches we ordered never made it to the table after waiting for 4o minutes. After a few tables that came after us received their meals we realized something wasn't right. We approached the staff to notify them about our orders. Waited another 10 mins, at that point seemed like none of the staff cared enough that we had waited that long. Tables after tables received their meals, we still hadn't got ours. No explanations whatsoever, we decided not to wait any longer and asked for refunds on the sandwiches which we got and what felt like an empty apology. We ordered Le Parisien Ham and Cheese, Le Parisien Chicken Pesto, Crepe Nutella and Capuccino. Cappuccino was great and Crepe Nutella was good, too bad the sandwiches never came. I'm headed to SD and somehow ended up here. You know it's an awesome hidden gem when it's crowded and as you walk In you can see fresh made deli samwhiches. Would I go out of my way to come here to eat again? No. Would I eat here again if I was in the area? I'd probably try something different than here. If we walked by and was hungry would I eat here again? Yes. Moulin is more of a 3.5/5 than 4 but I thought being close to the beach I'd round up rather to 4 stars than rounding down to 3. Didn't think they deserved a 3. Food was good. I think it looked better than it tasted. Their baguette ham sandwich was better than all the other things I tried. Croissant looked better than it tasted. Staff was friendly, very clean restaurant and definitely plenty of seating. read more

Super cute cafe/bistro that is well needed in the N end of San Clemente. Great location for those wanting to visit our town via train a short walk to restaurant and enjoy the ocean view along with a causal relaxed French inspired bistro that has choices from great pastry to salads soup and my favorite quiche. Came with friends to introduce them in a Monday and left with everyone saying they will be back. Best time to come is weekdays otherwise expect a wait. read more

BNA San Clementian for 23 years and traveling abroad in my career, I usually eat at Moulin near the 73 and jamboree. I decided to have lunch at Moulin. As much as I love quiche, I can say the quiche was overpriced. However, I did enjoy the vegetarian quiche. I noticed a guest had to grab a cloth and clean her own table. And out in the courtyard was an open container, trash bin, full of leftover food that had been picked up from the tables when bust. It was open with the trash full of food, even while guests were sitting on the patio. Very disgusting unprofessional and definitely a health hazard. Are you staying here before it became?Moulin. Moulin is such a fun French cafe! It feels like a little piece of France in San Clemente. The almond croissants are delicious, the crepes and cappucinos are tasty too. I have always found the staff to be helpful and pleasant. On a sunny day sitting on the patio is very relaxing with the ocean only 1/2 a block away. Quaint little place right next to the beautiful San Clemente coast. Stopped here at this little French cafe before going to the outlet. It sure did not disappoint. They make incredible pastries and delicious breakfast. A friend and I shared their vegetable omelette and strawberry crepe. Both were pretty good. The omelette was fluffy and vegetables cooked just right. We ate this right away and forgot to take pics but I remembered when the creek came . Their regular house coffee was served hot and so nice as the weather was a bit chilly. I even purchased almond croissant and apricot tart to go as well as the regular croissant. The croissant was flaky but soft on the inside and perfect size. The almond croissant filling was not too sweet but was super creamy. Loved it. This is a super cute and what I would say more traditional French bakery. They have tons of great options from pastries, crepes, sandwiches, salads and other dessert like options. They're pretty dang pricey, a cup of fruit is $7 and it's not anything special (grapes, strawberries, blueberries etc) With that said, they are delicious! Anything with that involves a croissant is buttery and melt in your mouth. I had the ham and cheese friand, it's a warm hand held size croissant with ham and cheese in the middle. The cafe itself is so cute, they have tons of take home options from drinks to champagne to jams and jellies that you might not be able to find at your local store. This is not an allergy friendly place and they make zero accommodations to work with you. I asked to sub arugula instead of mixed greens as I am allergic to spinach and they rudely said, "we have a set menu and don't make changes" Really?? You can't make a simple change for a person with an allergy? Came here after hiking the San Clemente Beach Trail which is just across from the cafe. Love the food here and how close it is to the beach. Love their food. Ordered the crepe complete (ham/cheese/bechamel sauce with egg on top) cafe au laite and chocolate croissant. Loved all of them. Sorry I forgot to take a picture as we were starving!! Hit the spot!! Great little breakfast spot in San Clemente (although they do have locations around OC). This place is very French with excellent fresh bread and pastries and some of the best coffee in town. This is a relaxing spot to eat during the week - and a busy cafe with outdoor tables on the weekend. A local favorite among cyclists. read more

The manager I assume in blue was mean to the new guy and ignored me wheb asking for help. Bought a fruit salad and honeydew is not ripe. Went to order and pay for a new fruit salad with just strawberries for my 3 year old and they said "the owner doesn't allow us to do that". This place was like a cute corner cafe close to the beach. They had tables both indoor and outdoor, wore their masks, covid safe. The lady working the front was so sweet! I don't eat too much French food so I was trying to figure out what to get, and she was super helpful. There was something else I wanted to try, but they have a smaller menu now due to covid unfortunately. No big deal though! We got the L'Omelette Moulin (mushroom and pesto chicken omelette) and La Crepe Complete (ham and cheese with sunny side up egg on top), both came with mixed greens on the side with a vinaigrette dressing. I asked if they could add tomatoes, and she cut some on the side for me even though she says usually they don't do that (SO NICE). The omelette also came with a piece of bread and strawberry jam. There were a lot of yummy looking pastries and breads (really wanted the baguette but I gotta minimize the carbs lmao.. so hard), I opted for the chocolate eclair, it was muy delicioso! (Oh wait, that's spanish... lol gotta learn some French). Also got some white wine and the mango nectar bottled drink, soo good! I love how they have jams and other food items to sell on the back wall. Thanks for the awesome first experience here, highly recommend Moulin! This place was average. I ordered the croque madame and the croissantwich. The croque madame was just okay. The bread was tough, and the cheese was surprisingly bland. I think the ham is homemade which is cool, but I personally didn't like it. I wished it was thinner. The croissantwich was disappointing. The eggs were overcooked and bland, and the croissant for the sandwich was dry. The best thing I ordered was the mini pain aux raisins next to the cashier. I really recommend those.
