After a beach walk there is nothing better than a sandwich from their special breakfast menu. We are partial toward the one made with garlic sourdough toast, fluffy scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (or both!) avocado cheddar and cream cheese!

Stopped by The Beach Hut and I ordered the regular Surfin Bird sandwich. The sandwich was fresh and filling with a good balance of turkey, bacon, avocado, and all the toppings working together. The bread was soft but held everything together well, and each bite had a nice mix of flavors without anything overpowering the rest The vibe is laid back and very beachy, and the service was friendly and quick. Parking is in back. A great spot to grab a solid sandwich after being around the harbor or the beach area.

My rating is 3.5 stars! First time trying this location and it was good but left us wanting more. Got a Malibu pastrami sandwich without the Italian sauce (the Italian sauce is quite salty if you're sensitive to high sodium). The ingredients were fresh; however, the sandwich size was on the small side with not a lot of pastrami for the $16 price. We are used to LA Deli pastrami sandwiches, which are quite robust with their ingredients. It's perhaps enough for one person but if you're sharing like we did (usually deli sandwiches are large and filling so we buy one to share). Today we were both hungry after eating the halves. The staff behind the register were very nice and friendly.

The tomato, pickle and onion were sliced as thin as possible which was disappointing for the price. I might come back to try another option in the future but as of now, I'm sadly unimpressed.

The roast beef was tender and tasty; plenty of cheese; and the au jus, which we dipped the sandwich into was perfect (not too salty). The woman who took our order at the counter, the owner, was very pleasant as was the woman who served us our sandwich. The outdoor patio, where we ate, literally can't be beat on a great weather day. They have a wonderful looking happy hour with great specials on beer which I'll check out on another day.

I'm always walking by Evan's restaurant going somewhere else, but yesterday on Easter my son and I decided to give his Beach Hut Deli a try. It was amazing! And affordable. We ate here because it was a zoo trying to find parking at Salt Creek Beach on a weekend holiday, even though I have a pass. Beach Hut has free parking but only if you do not use it as a way to go to the beach, it's for customers only, and they have a guard watching the parking lot. Beach Hut also had patio tables available yesterday. The tables are shaped like surfboards and the food is served on parchment - on colorful plastic Frisbees - which is very cute! Hopefully they won't be taken home by customers. I asked my son to take a photo of me with Evan to show how handsome he is. He is a super nice guy as well which doesn't always happen if someone is super good looking like Evan. He is even more gorgeous in person than in this photo. But whoever is in the kitchen is doing a fine job! They remembered all our special requests. Ladies, by the way, Evan is MARRIED! Evan and I worked together at Trader Joe's for a short time. We went on to bigger and better things, such as Self Employment with our own businesses. Yelp could not load my photo even though I tried multiple ways and sizes. Many people are having this problem unfortunately.

Alright, this sandwich spot makes one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I got the large Hobie and planned on having half now and half later in the day. Not possible, it was so good. I took a picture and almost like the screen of my phone the sandwich was so good.

Great place near the beach. The only reason it's not 5 stars is parking is terrible. We were greeted with a smile and service was quick. They have indoor and outdoor seating. A variety of cold and hot sandwiches as for drinks you can do soft drink or get yourself a cold draft they had cider and beers available. As for food, we ordered the Surfin Bird. It came with fresh avocado, bacon, cream cheese, and turkey with plenty to share. read more

My family and I recently had a wonderful experience at Beach Hut Deli in Dana Point. From start to finish, everything was easy and enjoyable. The online ordering process was seamless, and the convenient parking made pickup quick and stress-free. Everything was wrapped perfectly and stayed fresh for our trip to Trestles Beach. We thoroughly enjoyed all of our sandwiches: * The Surfin' Bird was delicious with the perfect combination of avocado, bacon, and cream cheese. * Loved the Hobie with salami, pastrami, and provolone. * The Beach Bikini was my personal favorite, the turkey, cranberry sauce, and sunflower seeds were such a fantastic pairing. * The La Jolla was a perfect vegetarian option. Ordering the dressings on the side was a great decision since we ate a little later, and everything still tasted incredibly fresh. It was also such a pleasure seeing you, Evan. Nice deli with outdoor seating that's popular among locals and people going to Salt Creek beach. They have a lot of sandwiches to choose from, it's hard to decide. I would give this place another chance because my first visit was with 2 friends and one of us loved the salad, one of us liked the gluten-free bread option, but the cheese bread with marinara was not good at all. The location is great and the staff was very friendly. Overall, I wasn't impressed but it was busy on a Friday night and seems like a popular local spot. read more

We have been coming here for several years. The current owners are a completely awesome couple. They both cook and do a little bit of everything else. They always have a smile on their faces and are delightful to be around. Their "Righteous Rueben" is the best Rueben sandwich I have ever had!! I have not been to this location for several years, but I came recently on my lunch break, and they did not disappoint! Their subs and sandwiches are so delicious! I got the veggie and made it a combo with chips and a drink. The prices are great and the veggie was loaded up and really flavorful. The only thing I might change is to get it on different bread next time. This is a great spot to go to before hitting up salt creak. You can sit inside or on the spacious patio, or bring it down to the beach! read more

Great food and awesome service! New owners in the past year or so, and they have done a fantastic job. Clean, nice and updated. The sandwiches were great! Packed with meat and flavor. Looks like they love football too, that's a great add to any place for food and drinks! The La Jolla (veggie sandwich) is fantastic- it had avocado, blue cheese, Italian dressing, spinach, tomato & pickles - I substituted onions for sprouts & it's REALLY tasty& filling, you don't even miss meat! The staff is friendly & each sandwich is made to order, so it's fresh. I suggest eating on-site for best flavors. My bf got the pastrami with avocado & cheese & proclaims it to be one of the better sandwiches he's ever had. Overpriced sandwiches that are not worth paying for. A large gourmet sandwich is over twenty something dollars. Total for two 9" sandwiches and one 6" sandwich was around $60 with tax. The sign said gourmet sandwiches but it's basically typical store deli meats with mustard and mayonnaise, no special sauce or even quality meats. Just ordinary and plain sandwiches that anyone can easily make at home. Bread was thick, chewy and tough. The sandwich is pretty much all bread. You're better off eating at Board N' Brew for cheaper cost with more deli meat. Service was lackluster. The cashier guy must be new because he didn't know how to use the ordering machine and a long line started gathering. He also forgot one of the sandwiches I ordered and I had to get back in line to tell them about it so they could make it. It is a cute sandwich shop in a nice location to stop by when you're in the beach area of Dana point. But overall, it's really not worth going to. read more

Every time I'm in the area I cannot resist but to stop in for a regular Spicoli, no modifications. A variety of sandwiches to fit anyone's needs at an affordable price. Super friendly staff, a nice selection of craft beer and happy hour Monday-Friday 3-6pm for $2 off beers! My go to sandwich spot in town. NEW OWNERSHIP AND THEY'RE AMAZING!!! We love Beach Hut Deli, we usually go to the one in San Clemente because it's down the street from our house but today we decided to ride the bikes to Salt Creek and grab a sandwich from the Beach Hut Deli in Dana! We are so happy we did!! We met the new owner and his wife and they have completely changed the vibe! It feels like an upgraded locals sandwich shop. Everyone is super nice and it's a great mix of visitors and locals. It's also a perfect place to grab a sandwich before you head to Salt Creek or Stands to enjoy the beach! This is my go to spot for a Reuben. That being said it is pretty steep price wise at about $21 for a full sandwich. I only come here when I'm really craving it but not regularly because of how expensive it has gotten. Staff are always nice and helpful even when there is a long line. Currently live in Vegas but Born & Raised In California. Family and I decided to try Beach Hut Deli. Hands down 5 gold stars. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the "Marley Nachos". Our favorite part was the amazing hospitality and service we received from the amazing employees. The beach decor/vibes was awesome. This will be our new spot when we come down to Dana Point. Under new management and It's so much better. Evan & his wife Briquelle are so welcoming and friendly. The sandwiches are great, the best in town we think. They added new nice chairs, tables like surfboards & bright yellow umbrellas. It's so much cuter. It's a nice beachy sporty atmosphere inside and on the patio. We highly recommend it!!! read more

First time here and ordered the "Sharkbite" sandwich, albeit without Tabasco. The sandwich was amazing, very good tasting. But because they allow this clique of regulars to take over the outside patio and harass people who aren't in their group. I've watched it happen a few times now, but today was the worst. A woman with a little kid sat down at an unoccupied table and started having their food. A couple of minutes later an older gentleman walked up and began verbally accosting her, getting in her space and demanding that she leave because he's been coming here for 35 years and this is his table. He kept accosting her until she was crying and took her child and moved tables. A few people tried to comfort this poor woman and her little kid. This guy was 1000% in the wrong. But staff didn't do anything. Instead, they walked up to the guy, said hi to him (of course, in a first name basis) and were friendly as anything. But not a word to the woman crying and trying to distract her toddler. Gross. It's not just this one guy either. There are at least a dozen of these "regulars" and Coffee Importers doesn't appear to do anything to stop them from harassing people, and actually seems to be fostering this environment.

Being friendly, we said "sure, no problem!". Shortly after, Marc came over and asked if our chairs had been taken and we let them know that the group next to us asked for them. In response, with deep condescension he responded "No, that isn't okay we have a lot of people waiting", which we understood but we also don't work there and aren't going to be rude to fellow patrons. He then told the group next to us he needed the chairs back only to not actually use said chairs for seated guests. It left all of us very confused for the unnecessary interaction. About 15 minutes later, my husband was looking for our server to order another drink and close out, when Marc came up and told us he needed the table. Mind you, we took time out of our evening to get there early for the game (as did everyone else that evening) and there was no signage nor a heads up from the team onsite that there was a limit on the tables, especially as we weren't the only people there for the very same reason. We had been there about 1.5 hours at that point and there was only a little bit left in the game. The group next to us who had also been there the entire time, and got sat before we did, weren't told they needed to get up, but we were given the third degree for our two spots. When my husband asked if he could get that next drink, Marc responded "I don't take orders" and walked away. Our server then proceeded to not check on us for an additional 20 minutes (we were trying to close out as requested), which ironically made it so we took up their table for the remainder of the game. He also mentioned that he ran into a similar issue with guests the previous week for the game, which sounds to me like an opportunity for better problem-solving skills and coaching amongst the team, not a customer-issue. All of this, only for there to be NO wait when we left AND open tables. Being that my husband and I are both in hospitality management, we were extremely frustrated by the lack of respect and embarrassing customer service by none other than Marc Sullivan, a co-owner of Homeslice. I think it's a bare minimum ask that the management and ownership, have the same decency and respect for paying customers that they expect of the rest of their service staff. By the time we got to our car it was 7pm and hadn't even been two full hours, all for our table to not even be needed. Totally understand it being a busy night but highly recommend that the team game plan better rather than making it the customers' responsibility to highlight where this situation could have been improved. Really bummed to have this experience as we're DP locals and love coming to eat/drink here!

I called the next morning to confirm, and Riley was an absolute rockstar. She handled my frantic check-ins and a few last-minute tweaks with total grace. They have a whole bunch of good food and they serve beer, wine and mixed drinks too! Located on PCH and Ritz Carlton Drive In Monarch Beach. They have a great patio with umbrellas, it's a perfect spot to grab a bite to eat after going to Salt Creek state beach. There were only 5 people in front of us in line and it took 25 minutes to get to the front. They were out of turkey, which is about half their menu. Watched the girl at the front run her fingers through the water that was filling up the drinking water container. Sandwiches took another 20 minutes. I got the Beach BBQ. It was good. Nothing amazing. It's the only reason this place is getting any stars. read more

Unfortunately not a minus star option. Got 2 sandwiches free because of the screw up with the previous 3. Guess what? the messed it up again, first time not even toasted although I requested extra toasted. 2nd time, lightly toasted, lots of mustard although I asked for light and SALTY salami...obviously not fresh. Conclusion, it has happened now 5 times including 2 free sandwiches... WON'T TRY AGAIN. read more

The service was absolutely amazing! The husband-and-wife were so kind and welcoming, making us feel comfortable even though it was close to closing time. Our group of 13 all ordered food, and they had everything out in less than 15 minutes so impressive! The food was delicious, and the hospitality was truly 10/10. Highly recommend! read more

The food is good they support the NFL by playing it on all TVs. The NFL supports disrespecting the American flag and there is only 1 reason to do that. You hate America. I will not give my business to any business that hates America. read more
