Stopped by The Beach Hut and I ordered the regular Surfin Bird sandwich. The sandwich was fresh and filling with a good balance of turkey, bacon, avocado, and all the toppings working together. The bread was soft but held everything together well, and each bite had a nice mix of flavors without anything overpowering the rest The vibe is laid back and very beachy, and the service was friendly and quick. We have been coming here for several years. The current owners are a completely awesome couple. They both cook and do a little bit of everything else. They always have a smile on their faces and are delightful to be around. Their "Righteous Rueben" is the best Rueben sandwich I have ever had!! My rating is 3.5 stars! First time trying this location and it was good but left us wanting more. Got a Malibu pastrami sandwich without the Italian sauce (the Italian sauce is quite salty if you're sensitive to high sodium). The ingredients were fresh; however, the sandwich size was on the small side with not a lot of pastrami for the $16 price. We are used to LA Deli pastrami sandwiches, which are quite robust with their ingredients. It's perhaps enough for one person but if you're sharing like we did (usually deli sandwiches are large and filling so we buy one to share). Today we were both hungry after eating the halves. Great customer service, the gentleman at the register was ever so friendly and helpful as I've never been in. Reminds me of Board and Brew though with the ambiance, menu options, and "vibe." I got a turkey avocado sandwich and it had no flavor - so underwhelming. I wasn't given an option for bread either. The tomato, pickle and onion were sliced as thin as possible which was disappointing for the price. I would give this place another chance because my first visit was with 2 friends and one of us loved the salad, one of us liked the gluten-free bread option, but the cheese bread with marinara was not good at all. My wife and I stopped by here for a quick bite before walking home. We ordered the Skinny Dipper sandwich on a French roll --- roast beef, ground pepper, onions, cheddar and mayo with a side of au jus. It was a really good sandwich. The roast beef was tender and tasty; plenty of cheese; and the au jus, which we dipped the sandwich into was perfect (not too salty). The woman who took our order at the counter, the owner, was very pleasant as was the woman who served us our sandwich. The outdoor patio, where we ate, literally can't be beat on a great weather day. They have a wonderful looking happy hour with great specials on beer which I'll check out on another day. read more

I have not been to this location for several years, but I came recently on my lunch break, and they did not disappoint! Their subs and sandwiches are so delicious! I got the veggie and made it a combo with chips and a drink. The prices are great and the veggie was loaded up and really flavorful. The only thing I might change is to get it on different bread next time. This is a great spot to go to before hitting up salt creak. You can sit inside or on the spacious patio, or bring it down to the beach! read more

The La Jolla (veggie sandwich) is fantastic- it had avocado, blue cheese, Italian dressing, spinach, tomato & pickles - I substituted onions for sprouts & it's REALLY tasty& filling, you don't even miss meat! Overpriced sandwiches that are not worth paying for. A large gourmet sandwich is over twenty something dollars. Total for two 9" sandwiches and one 6" sandwich was around $60 with tax. The sign said gourmet sandwiches but it's basically typical store deli meats with mustard and mayonnaise, no special sauce or even quality meats. Just ordinary and plain sandwiches that anyone can easily make at home. Bread was thick, chewy and tough. The sandwich is pretty much all bread. You're better off eating at Board N' Brew for cheaper cost with more deli meat. Service was lackluster. The cashier guy must be new because he didn't know how to use the ordering machine and a long line started gathering. He also forgot one of the sandwiches I ordered and I had to get back in line to tell them about it so they could make it. It is a cute sandwich shop in a nice location to stop by when you're in the beach area of Dana point. But overall, it's really not worth going to. read more

We love Beach Hut Deli, we usually go to the one in San Clemente because it's down the street from our house but today we decided to ride the bikes to Salt Creek and grab a sandwich from the Beach Hut Deli in Dana! We are so happy we did!! We met the new owner and his wife and they have completely changed the vibe! It feels like an upgraded locals sandwich shop. This is my go to spot for a Reuben. That being said it is pretty steep price wise at about $21 for a full sandwich. I only come here when I'm really craving it but not regularly because of how expensive it has gotten. Staff are always nice and helpful even when there is a long line. First visit since new owners took over this summer. Really great deli sandwiches - I had the Tuna & cheese and my wife had the Cali Cheesesteak. Great find on Ritz Carlton Drive & PCH adjacent to Moulin, also a favorite. Good local delis are a treasure, especially since we lost so many during the pandemic. I'm always down for a deli sandwich and today I couldn't have picked a place better than Beach Hut Deli! This was my first time trying this place out because usually my go to is Jersey Mike's. However, I think I just found a new favorite deli sandwich shop! I got a regular roast beef with pepper jack cheese, and the usual sandwich condiments, and although this is an ordinary roast beef sandwich, it's really not that ordinary because this sandwich is outstanding! I'm going to be honest, I was a bit hesitant, but the guy outdid himself with an ordinary sandwich! From the bread down to the mustard and mayo it was so freaking delicious! We decided to try it for the first time and ordered takeout in person around 7:30pm (5/13/26). We ordered the Truly White, Square Original Cheese, and Square Sweet & Spicy. While waiting near the counter, where you can see into the kitchen and prep area, we saw something really concerning. A staff member dropped a large piece of cheese on the floor, picked it up, rinsed it off, and then appeared to continue using it on someone's salad. We were honestly shocked. I would expect anything that touches the floor in a restaurant kitchen to be thrown away immediately, not rinsed and used. That alone made us extremely uncomfortable. As for the pizzas, they looked fine at first, but the taste was really disappointing. The Truly White was visually a little overwhelming, with a large puddle of creamy white cheese on top, more melted/piped cheese, and peppers in the middle. The square pizzas looked like they would have a light, airy crust, but the texture was actually very hard and crunchy being completely burnt on the bottom, making them not only tough to chew but taste like charcoal. Unfortunately, all three pizzas lacked flavor and were pretty underwhelming overall. Between the food safety concern we witnessed and the pizzas not living up to the hype, this was a waste of money for us. We won't be coming back.

I'll be back to Coffee Importers soon--it's a great place in DP for a morning coffee and pastry and hopefully the "regulars" don't ruin it for everyone else. Original review: I want to love this place and it bums me out to have to write this, but this is one of the least welcoming places in DP. Not because the staff is rude. But because they allow this clique of regulars to take over the outside patio and harass people who aren't in their group. I've watched it happen a few times now, but today was the worst. A woman with a little kid sat down at an unoccupied table and started having their food. A couple of minutes later an older gentleman walked up and began verbally accosting her, getting in her space and demanding that she leave because he's been coming here for 35 years and this is his table. He kept accosting her until she was crying and took her child and moved tables. A few people tried to comfort this poor woman and her little kid. This guy was 1000% in the wrong. But staff didn't do anything. Instead, they walked up to the guy, said hi to him (of course, in a first name basis) and were friendly as anything. But not a word to the woman crying and trying to distract her toddler. Gross. It's not just this one guy either. There are at least a dozen of these "regulars" and Coffee Importers doesn't appear to do anything to stop them from harassing people, and actually seems to be fostering this environment.

There is plenty of parking both in a lot, an extended lot and also the street. You can also take one of the many foot paths to the location as well. There are two ways to order. One sign says pastries and coffee and the other side towards the back or the Marina side says food and beverages. If you only want a coffee with a croissant or cinnamon roll or the delicious biscuits, then step into the pastries and coffee line. If you want breakfast sandwiches or any of the toasts plus coffee and other beverages, then go to the other line. It can get very busy, especially on the weekends after 9 AM. But bring your patience and be nice to everyone. Once you have ordered, step aside. Most likely your drinks will be called out first. It does take time to make freshly prepared food so either take a seat with your number and wait for it to be delivered or listen if it's going to be a to go order for your name It is dog friendly out on the patio. Please make sure to clean up after yourselves as the wind can blow any debris into the marina and we want to make sure everything is clean and safe for our underwater friends. Very cool nautical vibes. They decorate for the holidays. Reasonably priced. Support local. If you're gonna spend 6 to 7 dollars on a pastry or coffee, you should come here. Incredible vibes you could park at the other end of the marina and walk on over for a great scenic walk. My favorite is the iced harbor latte which is like a caramel vanilla latte similar to what I would describe as the golden eagle from Dutch Bros. The biscuits are incredible. I always get them. Stupid me drank the drink and ate the biscuits before I took a picture. Just trust me.
