Apparently, I've been driving past Guichos Eatery for years while everyone else in town knew something I didn't. I've seen both locations busy plenty of times, but somehow convinced myself it was basically takeout only. And then I convinced myself that by the time I got the food home, it would be cold, imperfect, and I'd regret the whole thing. Turns out the only thing I regret is waiting this long. My wife and I finally ate there, and Nori (a kind and happy soul) took great care of us. She was awesome and suggested the steak sandwich. I'm glad I listened because this is easily one of the best steak sandwiches I've had--and I'm including some pretty serious Philly contenders in that statement. It starts with the bread. I don't know what they're doing to this bread, but it's ridiculously good. Honestly, they could probably put a DMV application between two pieces of it and I'd order it again. We also had the arugula salad with an amazing lemon dressing, which was excellent and provided the necessary illusion that we were making healthy choices. Bottom line: Guichos has apparently been serving great food right under my nose for years. There's a reason both locations are always busy. Everyone else figured it out. My all time favorite Italian to-go restaurant in OC. I love everything I've ever had here. The Lasagna, hearts of palm salad, and especially their bread. Lasagna takes a little time to make so bring your patience. Not much seating but I notice most people do take out. Be careful when calling in your order as they have a few locations. Downside is they're closed on Sundays and I think maybe also on Mondays? Lots of parking available and there is outdoor seating. read more

Food was just ok. The marinara was very oily as can be seen in the photo. Also the pasta wasn't drained well and watered down the sauce once I stirred everything up. Portion size was good, we got carry out, with tax, lunch was about $20. Meatballs were good but a little tough. The garlic bread is to die for. Will try this again but was let down this first visit. More like a to-go cafe, they do have a few tables inside but it doesn't feel very warm or inviting. Assuming they do mostly Catering. Parking lot was fine with plenty of options around lunchtime. Anyone that hasn't tried Guichos is missing out. A terrific energetic and mindful staff ready to roll. I can't get myself to order other than their sausage lasagna. We are on a local quest for best lasagna and they are #1 out of 5 so far. A fun quest but there isn't a close second! It's a different dining experience than a "restaurant" but what's wrong with eating quality take-out (usually that is an oxymoron) at home?! read more

We used to love Guichos but as of late it's missed the mark. Food is extremely greasy but I guess it's the case with most Italian food. However it didn't used to taste greasy in the past. Order wasn't ready upon pickup time but at least it was fresh and hot. read more

Came here to order lasagna and a meatball sub but ended up getting ravioli and a meatball sub. They didn't have lasagna that day. Honestly didn't care for the food much. The ravioli sauce was extra watery and just didn't taste all that great to me. I was bored of the meatball sub after a few bites. The only thing I really liked was the garlic bread. I wish the piece I got wasn't so tiny though, I could probably eat an entire loaf of it. As another reviewer has mentioned, they need better containers for their food, especially since the place is geared more for takeout. Yum!! This is my 2nd time here, 1st time at this location. Ive tried the other location and both times I've gotten the jumbo mushroom ravioli. It is absolutely delicious, super strong in mushroom flavor, but obviously! It's creamy and filling. The meatball at this location, wasn't as soft as the other. Their bread is good as usual. We also got the fusili with pesto, it was good in the beginning but it did get watered down near the end. Service is very good and nice, they are fairly quick too! read more

The fusilli special and the filet are still top notch! Had to lower a star as we tried a few other dishes that were okay but not great: The spaghetti has gotten a little more bland and it's sad when you order two dishes and only receive one piece of garlic bread. The regular fusilli is completely different than the special. While the special is packed with five star flavor, the regular is watery and not good. Advice: get the fusilli special! read more

UPDATE: I've been a local customer since it was just a tiny TO GO place next to 7-11. Food quality and taste have slowly declined over the last few years, and wait time is still an issue. Maybe it's the North SC location, since I haven't tried the OG one in such a long time! Tonight's dinner was 2/5: soupy sauce, pasta tender, bland taste. Like the bread though. Think Guicho needs to get his hands back in the cooking phase and UPDATE sauces, etc. Guess I'll try the OG location for the last time? read more

I love their food here. It always comes out hot and it's very fresh. I tried the tortellini today and it was really good, especially with the garlic bread. I also enjoy the fusilli it's unique with a chicken broth. read more

You can come here and eat, but most people just order in and pick up. Our spot is the North San Clemente one. The staff is always friendly and quick to please, and while it takes usually 25-35 minutes to get your order, the food is always worth it. Consistently tasty and generous portions. I'll second that comment from another yelper about the staff looking like they're from a dance squad-it's like San Clemente High works here. Our favorites here are the pasta dishes, the vegetarian eggplant sandwich which also has spinach and zucchini, and the tiramisu. Always on point and tasty-only complaint is that there is sometimes a whole lotta pasta for the amount of protein/sauce they add, so they could adjust those proportions just a bit. read more

The people working seem to have a very passive aggressive demeanor to customers and it honestly makes the experience not enjoyable. Found this place by accident. The outside indicates small take out place but the inside is very large and stainless steal looking. Over the top friendly staff, they seem like all friend of a high school dance squad, all really nice. I walked and ordered and while waiting, I noticed people coming in to pick up their phone orders.... All men, so am thinking this food has got to be great Italian and no lie, the food was exceptional! I ordered a Caesar salad, and jumbo ravioli, it comes with bread. The bread was perfect. The ravioli had a mushroom sauce, super tasty, the pasta was aldente so no mushiness from sitting. Your order is made to order. Love this place. However picked up an order 2 weeks ago and one of the dishes leaked EVERYWHERE. All over the other dishes, our kitchen, seat of the car. Accidents happen. All good. Called up and Guicho's immediately offered refund for the meal. Appreciated them proactively coming up with a solution before even finished explaining what happened. They asked me to text photos to the owner which promptly did. Heard nothing. Called back a few days later. The woman who answered was appropriately horrified. She took our info and said the other owner would definitely address it. Heard nothing from the other owner either. Called again late last week and same woman super duper promised the owner would contact me and process the refund they proactively offered to 3 times. Still nothing. At this stage stuck having to leave a lukewarm review and initiate a charge dispute on my credit card. A crappy approach that really prefer not to do. But out of other options at this point. So here we are. The food here really is delicious and had looked forward to enjoying it. Would love to again in the future. read more

This is a casual Italian joint that serves pasta and has a full bar. They probably have more on the menu, but every time I come I always order the Farfalle. The photo of the Farfalle is attached in this review. The dish contains sundried tomatoes, chicken, bow tie shaped pasta, fresh oregano, green onions, garlic, and chicken stock. The main star of this dish is the amount of chicken they put in. There was chicken in every bite and the chicken stock makes it feel as if you're eating chicken soup, but in an Italian way. The service is great here. We get complimentary bread. The food is fresh since they take about 15-20 minutes to make my dish after ordering. Great service and fresh delicious food for a great price! I came here for lunch and I got the Mediterranean salad with chicken and it was so good! The garlic bread that came with it was so delicious too! The prices are pretty good for what you get and the portion was good sized! There are only a few tables inside to eat at with a few outside but I think this is more of an order to-go type of place. Had the best meal and service today. Stopped in for a snack as it was right before they closed for their break between lunch and dinner. They were totally ok letting me order 10 minutes before they closed. Shaded a sausage sandwhich with my mom, plus two generous pours of wine. The complimentary garlic bread was a nice touch too.
