I came here on a whim because the spot I would usually go was so packed day before July 4th. I was so surprised because the breads here are amazing! I had their breakfast sandwich and the bread was the best bread I've ever had--and yes I have been to Paris. I'm not sure which bread it was but it was crispy, thin, and didn't overpower the sandwich. I then saw everyone buying their olive baguette so I bought one and it was also great. Show up between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. and everything is still warm, which is basically the bakery equivalent of winning the lottery. Now, about the name. Saffron Bakery. You'd think they'd be slipping saffron into a pastry somewhere, right? Nope. I've never seen a single saffron-infused anything on the menu, other than a saffron cake on one visit. It's like calling your bakery "Caviar Cakes" or "Truffle Donuts." Bold move. But honestly, when the croissants are this good, they can call it "Toenail Bakery" and I'd still show up. Bonus points for location: it's wedged right next to a dry cleaner and a dentist. So if you drop butter on your shirt or chip a tooth on the crusty baguette, you can solve all your problems in one trip. That's efficiency. My husband and I went to Saffron Bakery over the weekend for brunch. I had heard some good reviews from neighbors, so I wanted to pop in to check it out. I did tell my husband that it was a bakery, so he was prepared. Once we arrived, we saw that they also were serving lunch too. They offer a pastrami burger on their menu which sounded good. But we were there for brunch, so I ordered the Quiche Lorraine. My husband wanted the croissant breakfast sandwich with ham. We wanted to eat these items there and grab some pastries for the road. We also got a Kouign-amann and chocolate cake to-go. I also asked for a cappuccino and the barista asked if I wanted any syrup in it. I chose one pump of caramel. The bakery is small but there are a few tables. I asked for the quiche to be warmed and was told it would be a few minutes. No problem. They made my husband's sandwich to order so we waited outside. They brought out our food and coffee to us, which was nice. I did not expect a side of salad to accompany my quiche, but it was a nice surprise. My husband had some breakfast potatoes to accompany his croissant sandwich, which was also a welcome surprise. The food was really good and so was the service. I was really pleased with the kouign-amann. The chocolate cake was really good too. Not too sweet but very good. I enjoyed the spongy texture. Saffron Bakery is a Persian tea/pastry shop that has some delicious and unique baked goods. It's a tiny little spot packed with lots of different pastries that many people may not have tried. There were so many things I wanted to try but I stuck with the Nutella Pastry and the Raspberry Pistachio Tart. Both of them were delicious specially the tart, it's a must try. Along with that there were more I wanted to try out like the saffron cake but I'm saving it for another time. Service was ok, there are a couple small tables inside and outside for seating. I got some Persian Tea along with my dessert but one of my biggest pet peeves is when nice bakeries service tea and coffee in to go cups specially for dine in. I love love this place! This hasn't happened before but this morning I head into Saffron for one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches and it was mediocre at best. The lady at the register was really nice but also acted a bit tricky! Our interaction was pleasant at first and then I asked if she can add jalapeños to my sandwich and she said okay and as she rings me up she tries to charge me for a jalapeño croissant (could have been an honest mistake) so I told her and she said "oh it's for the jalapeño" okay but I'm not gonna pay $5 for jalapeños .. so she then removes it and then makes a comment "did you wake up hungry/hangry" lololol HUH?!! is that ever even appropriate especially if I'm not being rude?
