Great location, walkable to beach with covered parking, no charging but maybe one day? They offer chairs and towels to the beach and cookies at 6pm. Rooms are comfortable, cool and spacious. The staff is always great so will be hard to find replacements. I never get a chance to use the hot tub as there is always a family packed in there somehow. Too small to share with 8 strangers. This hotel is amazing, when I arrived, all I could smell were the most tasty chocolate chip cookies and they offered me a glass of wine and then I went up to my room to enjoy my cookies and wine! The staff is very friendly and sweet, I had everything I needed, the bed was comfortable, the snacks were amazing and very thoughtful and I just really enjoyed my stay, the hot tub was nice. It was nice to sit out and relax by the pool and then enjoy sitting by the fire pit... Also, I love Laguna Beach and I also love that this hotel is within walking distance to everything that you need. You definitely do not need a car when you're in Laguna Beach if you just want to stroll the streets and take in all the beauty, eat at some nice restaurants and check out all of the really cool galleries. This place is such a gem. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left was an incredible experience. The front desk staff are so friendly and kind. The cookies at night were a perfect touch. The room is so cute. And I love the honor bar and items in the room like water camera that you can purchase. We went into hot tub at night and I love it stays open until 11:00pm. The view is stunning and restaurants and coffee shops are in walking distance. And parking is easy too. I didn't want to leave and look forward to coming back. read more

I was really excited to stay here for Valentines weekend, as I've stayed at The Scott, their sister property in Scottsdale several times and love it. Upon arrival I was told the hot tub was out of order, which was very disappointing because it was one of the highlights of staying at the hotel considering it's freezing at night the pool is not an option. The ocean view room we selected was bright and airy upon entering but partial view as stated, blocked by many other buildings, so was very limiting. The location was great for walking distance to beach and the shops. After waking up in the morning we noticed our room was full of ants, in the bed we were sleeping in, on the tables, nightstands. Completely unacceptable and disgusting, we had no food or beverages in our room. Would never stay here again or recommend. Felt more like a cheap motel, and for the price we paid it's definitely not. So my husband bought us a night's stay at the hotel with a coastal view king sized bed via Expedia's website. The hotel incorrectly placed us in the wrong room, with two double beds, no view to the ocean and they claimed they were fully booked so they couldn't amend their mistake. We ended up getting charged for the full amount. This place was mediocre at best with peeping Tom for an employee. On the last day as my husband was taking a shower I was sitting by the window and made sure to place a do not disturb sign on the door. A man in charge of cleaning, approaches our window and peers inside!! I yell at him and ask him what the hell he was doing? It was absolutely disgusting and disturbing knowing that he was intentionally peeping into a guest's room. I felt violated and will not be returning. read more

I want to explain first why I didn't give 5 stars. I booked my reservation through Expedia about 6 months before my trip. At the time, the price seemed reasonable compared to other properties. I began to see negative reviews about surprise charges and I reached out to the property and was assured I wouldn't see any shocks. At that time, I also noticed the property was $500-600 cheaper for a rental. The property couldn't accommodate any change in rate because I booked through Expedia and I wasn't aware I had to address with Expedia 24 hours before arrival. I was a little bitter upon arrival, but tried to remain optimistic. We arrived late on a Friday night but were able to enjoy a quick meal across the street. Like someone else stated, the location was perfect. It was about .4 mile walk to the beach, but we had no problem with the walk. It was close to eateries, Starbucks and the park behind the hotel which had beautiful views and several options to hang in the grass if you'd like to eat there. The neighborhood is nice and was great for morning runs. The room was perfect for 2 people. It was decorated cute. The toilet kept running and the sink would clog but it didn't negatively impact our stay. They also brought us up a microwave when I asked if there was one accessible to heat up leftover pizza. They also provided umbrellas for use when requested. We never used the pool due to weather, but it was a cute little area that seemed to get some family usage. Walls ARE thin! We heard people coming in very late/early morning each night. I'm not going to complain because I was that person before, but it's good to know that you do hear things. Although there are trees, power lines and some housing in view, you CAN see the ocean. We were also able to see from our bathroom window and could see a dolphin from time to time. In summary, the hotel was an expensive stay for us, but could definitely be much more reasonable pending your booking time. It was overall perfect for us and my daughter would love to return. We stayed at this cool, updated old-school California PCH hotel this past June. It was such a great location (I can't emphasize this enough) and very comfortable and easy to enjoy. The building and shops and houses nearby reminded me of the California of my youth - flat-roofed small buildings covered in plants and flowers. I LOVE this place. While it can get expensive for a 3 star motel (especially during their peak season), it is still pretty decent for what you pay for. Even my in-laws loved their stay here when my husband and I treated them for a weekend here with us. Parking has never been an issue; it is so easy to get in and out of their garage. The rooms are large and clean. The staff is friendly and they serve cookies at night and coffee in the morning. You can even rent out their folding chairs to sit on the beach. Laguna Beach is one of my favorite cities to stay in for a weekend getaway and we always look here first before we consider anywhere else. We are definitely coming back! read more

What an unexpected one night stay at Laguna Beach House Hotel. This beautiful man who I've been seeing and I decided to get a hotel room for Sunday night. I was very excited because the two of us have been super busy with work which resulted in not seeing much of each other for two weeks. He sent me the link to this hotel and it was the perfect spot to enjoy one another's company. He was finishing up with his Mother's Day celebration, so I was the first to check in. The man working the front desk was very nice and welcoming. I told him I worked at a hotel and he didn't end up charging me for parking! After getting checked in, I was off to my room. I made my way up the elevators to the first floor where the pool and our room was. It was modern and perfect for this beach town. I sat on the comfy chair waiting for my baby's arrival. He called me and told he he was 15 minutes away. I was sitting in front of a mirror where I could see behind me. 15 minutes later, I saw him walking towards the room. I opened the door and immediately ran into his arms! We got him situated and enjoyed each others company. He needed to shower from his long and hard work day and I decided to join him hehe. I have to say that the shower curtain is very short and the floor got really wet when we were in the shower. He's always told me about shower beer which sounded relaxing, so we both had a beer in the shower. We didn't plan to go out since it was Mother's Day. All we wanted to do was cuddle, drink beer, and catch up. In the midst of it all, he asked, "Would you be mine?" I smiled and responded, "if you'd be mine!" I was not expecting him to officially ask me to be his girlfriend but I'm happy he sis He had to teach his students in the morning so we were up around 6am. It was a very short stay but definitely one that I will always hold very near and dear to my heart. Very nicely appointed room, great staff and excellent location. A 5 minute walk to divers cove. I thought it had easier beach access than it does from the photos, but it was still great. It's up on the cliff so you have to drive down to get to the actual beach, or go to divers cove and walk down some steps. Hot tub is out of service / housekeeping speaks zero English and forget to service your room, if it rains the halls flood and the front door sits on the street level which rises above a foot of pooled water which you won't see in the evening cause it's dark till your ankle deep in it. Also, if and when the elevator is out of service you'll be left hoofing that heavy bag down wet slippery stairs. They'll host a nightly happy hour and you'll need all the wine you can chug just to tolerate the final head scratching folio you get on the way out. Me thinks not!!! read more

Cheap Goodwill furniture, the kind given away on Craig's list for free pick up. Loud in the wall air conditioner goes on every 30 mins even at night. springy, noisy & uncomfortable bed. uneven floors with a weird bathroom configuration, and I mean weird. Blatant violation of recently passed US Congress Law no "Hidden Junk Fees" especially if using a 3rd party. Anyone giving this place a good review knows little about the accommodation business. location and hotel are not the same thing. This place is "lipstick on a pig". What a wonderful find. My husband and I needed a getaway and I googled places in Laguna. This was a gem of a find. The hotel is so cute and quaint. They have thought of everything, even evening cookies. The room was very clean and the decor was nice. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, towels and sunscreen were provided. We also spent the day on the beach and they had all we needed (chairs, towels, even boogie boards) for us to use at no extra charge. We walked everywhere, hotel is located on the perfect spot. Our first time staying here. Pros: Great location, the beach is just behind the motel and a great new coffee place JEDEDIAH just a short walk away. Good looking interior design in common areas and in the room - cute place They serve coffee in the Morning - not very good tasting coffee and a wine reception 5-6 pm - Terrible low quality wine, and cookies 7-8pm - the cookies were OK not great Clean room with high quality sheets and a very comfortable bed and it's been decorated in a beach surf style. The room on is clean cozy Good looking pool area and hot tub and there is a fire pit, although it was never lit. Loved the surf books in the room. The items for sale are so overpriced I'm glad I didn't have a young child screaming for me to buy! I like the concept of items to sell but Not those items and the prices are too high. I would have bought lip gloss, lipstick, sun products for hair and face. Overall it is a cute 3 star property. Con: $35 a night to park is really a rip off $35 Amenity fee I guess is paying for the cheap wine, poor quality coffee and ok cookies - they should remove the amenity fee and stop providing those items. There are no other "amenities". If the coffee, wine, cookies were high quality I would gladly pay the $35 per night. And use glass wine glasses. We booked the Coastal View room on the second floor and we were super disappointed NOT to have an ocean view. We booked directly on the motel site and the room category description is misleading. Nice location and cute boutique hotel vibe so giving it 2 stars for that, but cleanliness is not its forte. It was one of the more affordable options in the area without seeming like a motel, but I now know why the prices are lower. Stayed here 2 nights - the day we checked in we quickly changed and went out to dinner so we were barely in the room. Came back exhausted and as we were about to get into bed we pulled back the covers and saw lipstick stains and pen marks on the bottom sheet (the pillows were placed right over that area). Either they didn't change the sheets between guests or made the bed with stained sheets. Either way, not good. We called down to the front desk and they said they'd bring up fresh sheets. 20min later we had to call back (they said they got busy). Finally got the sheets and had to make the bed ourselves with no apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience. Our second day we barely spent any time in the room but when we got home in the early evening we noticed a number of ants between the bathroom and outer sink area with some also in the living space area. Unfortunately there wasn't a couch in the room so we'd had our bags on the floor since we arrived. I quickly moved them to on top of the table and chair, shook out all of our stuff, and killed the ants as I saw them (about 30 over the course of the evening and following morning). We didn't ask to change rooms because at this point we were nearly done with our stay and I assume this would have been an issue in other rooms. Also we never brought home leftovers or anything that would have attracted the ants. I saw other dead ants around the trim in the living space ant bathroom once I took a closer look after killing a bunch so clearly this is an ongoing issue This place has potential if they do a thorough and deep cleaning of all the room and change the housekeeping protocols but until then, I have no intention of staying here again. read more

We stayed here recently, in the off season. It's a quaint little hotel that's very close to the beach and walkable to the hustle and bustle of downtown. The rooms are on the older side, but everything was clean so no major complaints. It's a little weird that anyone walking by can see straight in the rooms and the walls are thin. The staff were friendly and the firepit in the pool area is nice. They do charge a daily "resort fee", which is maybe more worth it in the summer when people need beach supplies but it felt like just an extra fee in the winter. I'm not really sure what that resort fee got us. The hotel felt a bit pricey for what it was, but seemed to be on par with others in the area. I really liked how convenient it was to all of the action without being in the middle of the action. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Laguna Beach House for her birthday and fell in love with the place. It's a fully renovated beach motel that the owners have converted into a really comfortable, stylish, well-appointed beach hotel. It's chic without a hint of pretense and the whole place is decorated with a beachy / surfer theme. Top things I loved about the Laguna Beach House include the stylish lobby and room with a surfboard over the bed and a patterned sink, the super comfortable bed and pillows, the beach-close location (just a couple blocks up PCH from Main Beach), the covered parking, and the wine and cookie hour in the evening. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the room was impeccably clean, and we would absolutely stay here again. While this isn't some ultra-fancy, super-luxurious hotel, it's a very cool, clean, comfortable place with a great vibe. It's easy to see why they've been successful. Highly recommended! read more

Our stay was a bit "meh". The property is surprisingly clean, which was a nice surprise for a motel. We ended up eating the cost of our second night and left for home because the people upstairs would not stop pounding around. It also would have been the second night without a working A/C. Only way to cool the room down was to open the window, which I wasn't super stoked about. I requested a room on the second level and was hoping for some sort of view, but instead we were put on the first floor with a view of PCH. The balcony overlooked a neighbor's yard and wasn't very spacious to sit on. I think what I was most annoyed with was the "resort amenities" fees. These fees are basically a cash grab and don't get you special access to anything that normal resort fees would get you. This also isn't a resort, it's just a really well kept motel in Laguna Beach. Parking fees of $35/night are really on the steep side too. I'm used to paying those sorts of rates when I valet at a Marriott, not a small place like this with self parking. All in all, if I ever do a staycation in the area again, I'll look elsewhere closer to the downtown scene. It's not that this hotel was bad, it just wasn't great. read more

We had the best service at Laguna Beach House! Daytime front desk let us in a bit early so I could work. WiFi is fast btw! Nighttime front desk gave us the best recommendations for dinner (Asada + Beer). Wine hour, followed by fresh baked cookies was a treat after a long working day. (We were in the area for meetings and only stayed one night) We managed to sneak out for a walk to Heisler Park... amazing! Must see! The hotel is a cool surfer vibe retro redo. It is not high end but still very comfortable and close to everything. Walkable. Also it is NOT surfside/beachside however you do get a nice view of the shoreline with several rooms. My daughter and I took a mini getaway from SD for a couple of nights and stayed here. It was just perfect! Parked onsite for $20 which isn't too bad. The lobby had a very bohemian surfer decor and smelled so good, like vacation! It is very tiny, so don't expect a huge mingling space. We were greeted by Annette at the front lobby. She offered us great information about surrounding beach access and things to see and do while in Laguna Beach. Overall, all staff members we encountered were all friendly. When I had originally made the reservation I had requested a nice room and mentioned it was our first time in LB as we were celebrating my daughter's birthday early. When we approached our room, we quickly realized it was adjacent to the pool...PERFECT location! We walked in and just fell in love with the decor and space! The king bed was so comfortable and the room/bathroom were spotless. We noticed a basket with a card and my name on it, made out to my daughter. It was filled with goodies and the card wished us a great first visit and even wished my daughter a happy early birthday! It was such a sweet and genuine touch that just left my kids face beaming with happiness and gratitude. Just melted my heart (thank you guys!) The only criticism I have is the upkeep of the pool area. Although it was quaint, I felt that it could have been better maintained throughout the day. It's not like we even went on a weekend. There was food and crumbs on the floor and chairs and the next day I found a shower cap and paper towels next to jacuzzi, which I picked up and tossed. They did however keep towels stocked. Overall we enjoyed our visit to this boutique motel and will be back! It's close to a few great cafes, restaurants and the beach there which is less than a 5 minute walk, is gorgeous!! I loved the wine hour and my daughter enjoyed getting a fresh baked cookie both nights. For those with kids, it's close to local attractions like Mariners Park in Newport Beach and of course Disney (downtown Disney is open). We were greeted by Michelle who was absolutely wonderful and had a vast knowledge of Laguna. She's gave us so many great recommendations for activities (tide pools, walking/hiking trails and taking in the beautiful scenic views), transportation (riding the trolley) and some incredible restaurants with the most beautiful views and delicious food. This hotel has a fun surfer beach vibe. They offer coffee from 7-10 am, ice cold water all day in the lobby, Red and White wine from 5-6 pm followed by mouthwatering cookies from 6 pm until they are all gone! The property has an adorable little pool and jacuzzi and a chess set in the lobby. This location was absolutely perfect it was located just about 1 block from the ocean , 10-15 min walk to downtown and the main beach off broadway. Our room had a nice table, two queen size beds, nice size shower with a sink outside of the bathroom in the bedroom area (I love this feature) and a cute little balcony that overlooked the Laguna nursery Nextdoor. Such a nice relaxing time. We will definitely be back! read more

Great location BUT if you are a light sleeper DO NOT stay on the 1st floor or near the pool area. While very cute and beach appointed, it wasn't worth the lack of sleep. Also, they need to adjust how beverages show on the room receipt. I purchased a couple of San Pellegrino's from the front desk and they show up as a "mini bar" charge. At $8 each (what on earth?!), I can't put this as a non-alcoholic beverage on my work trip and be reimbursed for it. read more

This hotel was OK. We usually stay at a hotel on the beach, but with rising prices, we opted for a less expensive place a block off the beach. It was a bit further from the center of town than we would have liked, but really it was a short walk to the beach, and not far from most of the shops and restaurants. I really liked the beachy vibe and decor in the room. They played up a retro beach vibe. Otherwise, the room was simple. Though cute, there were a few things I didn't care for. There was not much space on the counter for doing hair and makeup, the tub was slightly rusted, and there was a nearly dead plant on the balcony. Also, the "partial ocean view" was a far cry from an ocean view. Walls were thin, and I sometimes felt disturbed by other guests when trying to sleep in. There were some things I did like as well. I thought that the coffee and yogurt parfaits in the lobby each morning were convenient. The pool area is small, but quite cute, however they didn't have towels when we went. I also like that they have a cute lobby area. They have a cooler by the pool with bags of ice, which were actually more convenient than an ice machine. One night our keys stopped working when we came home. They fixed them right away, but it was annoying as it was late and we had walked a long way. The biggest annoyance is that when we booked, the "resort fee" and the "parking fee" were each $15 per night. When we checked out, we were charged $20 instead of $15 (so $40 per night). They explained that it was because they were raising prices. When we argued, they gave us the price listed at the time of booking. Anyway, nice try. I don't know if it good or bad, but the elevator and part of the lobby smell sort of "hipster" like some kind of beard oil. All in all, it was a decent place to stay, and given the cost of Laguna Beach hotels during the summer, it was a fair deal for the price paid. read more

I had a girlfriends weekend planned and had a terrible experience at a hotel right down the street . We left that hotel after 1 night and checked into here instead. I accidentally booked the wrong date and they were very accommodating to help us fix that. The room was gorgeous - ocean front view. And the majority of the staff was excellent. The young handyman was sent to our room because of a minor ceiling leak and he fixed it promptly and efficiently: nice guy! The front desk man - I wish I remembered his name... was the most accommodating hotel staff we've ever met. He was so nice and sympathized with the horror show that we came from down the street. Overall this hotel was 100% better than the hotel (pacific motel) down the street. Even though I live locally, I'll probably book this hotel again for myself and my family. Beautiful rooms and very clean. My ONLY complaint is that the bartender during happy hour (up on the terrace area) needs to be replaced. He treated everyone like we were interrupting his phone screen time and bothering him inside his own home. Not to mention the drinks were AWFUL!!! The small touches like nightly milk & cookies is adorable, and the retro surf decor, and overall cleanliness is outstanding. Our room was spacious, clean, and charming. The pool area is really nice and for the most part we had it all to ourselves both days we were there. It's very close walking distance to local beaches, shops, and restaurants. Of course you're not on the actual beach with a literal ocean view, BUT that's what walking is for! Much more affordable than other boutique hotels in the area anyway. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Laguna for a weekend! read more
