For that price, the room and service felt closer to a budget motel than a Laguna Beach hotel. We left feeling let down and would not recommend Capri Laguna.

A European styled breakfast each morning from 7am to 10am; 5. Wi-fi; 6. Beach chairs and umbrellas. Parking in Laguna Beach is a premium, so parking at the resort was great. The city of Laguna offers a free shuttle with a bus stop almost in front of the hotel. So we parked our car and took the shuttle all over town. The property is a well maintained, quant renovated 26 room Italian style resort. It's clean, charming, and has lots of character. It felt nice being at a small property and not at a large commercial hotel. We felt like we were back in Italy on vacation again! Just walking past the front of the hotel, you would not know that there is a luxury resort inside. They have a heated swimming pool (83 degrees), a sauna, and a secluded sun bathing lounge area and several other amenities. We opted for the heated wellness treatment which is a jacuzzi hot tub for two with mineral water. But they also offer single and couples messages and other message therapies. They have a quant internal courtyard for dining as well. We enjoyed a great European breakfast each day which was well prepared, fresh, healthy, and served by great hostesses. We especially liked the frittatas, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot coffee, and iced cold lemon water. The property is a historic landmark, so it doesn't offer handicap accessibility. So if you or someone in your group is in a wheel chair or uses a walker then this property won't work for you. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely go back again.

We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

My personal liability insurance covers me for exactly what I do: walk around, kibbitz with the guests, and pose for photos. That's all. Usually when venues/entertainment companies ask me if I carry personal liability insurance, I let them know that I do. Sometime proof of liability insurance is requested, and I provide that. Only ONCE before in my 40-year career have I EVER been asked to have the venue named on my policy for the event. That event was being held in a very high-security utilities building in downtown Los Angeles, where the rooftop area when I was asked to perform was rather dangerous in places. That was a major inconvenience but at least I understood fully as to why this particular group would request this. So, enter the Ranch at Laguna, lol: A dumpy-looking property that looks like it's in the middle of a construction site as you drive up, and has a ton of very dangerous-looking outdoor stairs in the "gardens"(?), not very well-lit, and leading to gosh-knows-what, hidden beyond the darkness below. The "ballroom" I was appearing in was rather small, and looked like a very common and average meeting room one might find at a Sonesta or other properties of that ilk. This is certainly not a property with any bragging rights at all, and they had the audacity to inconvenience me into not only providing proof of liability insurance, but spelling out very specially the separate amounts of coverage they require, and then asked to be added to the policy for the event, and even provided a very specific template to follow, and yadda, yadda, yadda. ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS and completely unnecessary for me and for what my "act" is. I do not use anything dangerous in my presentation. No fire, pyrotechnics, any sort of musical equipment, musical instruments, etc., which WOULD warrant such a request, as any of those things might possibly harm someone in attendance or any of the staff. I'm just a comedian who strolls around, and that's all. I had to jump through hoops to try and make this all happen, and was only made aware of that nonsense ten days before the event, while I was out of town on another event and wouldn't even be able to get to my office until five days before the party. I tried, and the proof did not arrive in time, but the events person made an exception to the person putting on the party, and while that might have been some kind of a nice gesture, she had to add: "...but we don't usually do that." Sit down and shut up, lady. Luckily, I did appear with no other hitches and my client and all the guests were wowed by me, and that is ALL I care about. I will NEVER accept an engagement at this property again, and will happily never have to face the absolutely anal-retentive requirements for outside vendors. I will also warn other entertainers to beware of the situation before accepting jobs there as well, and to make those potential clients aware too, so they can perhaps choose another venue to spend money on for their event, a suitable venue. Location-wise, you can't beat it; Heisler Park is just a five-minute walk directly across the street. This area holds a special place in our hearts. Soon after checking in, I had to return to the Office to ask for assistance with accessing the WiFi and a day later, I had to ask for assistance with accessing the pool. I assumed that I needed to use my hotel key to open the gate to the pool. The Office woman made me feel like a fool when she rolled her eyes and said in a tone that I interpreted as exasperated, "There's a latch at the upper top corner of the gate." She was right. There was a latch but it was painted the same color as the gate and I didn't notice it. I only noticed the key hole. My bad. As I floated in the pool, I said to myself, "You are Bad Dog." Someone needs to explain to this Office woman that without these pesky visitors, her business will have no customers and she will have no job.
