Salad with house made dressing, loaded tots, meatloaf special
    Karri S.

We just moved to O4W and walked here for an early dinner. The guy behind the bar is an absolute gem and despite it being a bit busy, kept everything going. They have lots of sandwich options but also really great non bar food you aren't expecting like African peanut soup and spaghetti. We'll definitely be back. We had the loaded tots and my husband had the meatloaf special. The burgers coming out of the kitchen also looked really good. A great spot for some drinks and bite.

Motorboat has a cute and cozy theme. Even though the inside suggest more of a seafood menu, there really isn't any seafood. The decor screams shrimp baskets, feels like more of a deli menu. I was craving a muffuletta, and this place had them. The sandwich is big enough to split between two people. We sat at the bar and the food came pretty fast. We also got the reuben which we preferred out of the two sandwiches. It was pretty dead when we went on a Thursday around 7. Bottom line, pretty casual menu and spot. Decent atmosphere, worth going for a visit especially with their unique menu. I think anyone could find something they would like.

    Chicken salad sandwich with tots

My husband and I have been to Motorboat three times in the last month. Can you tell we like lunchtime sandwiches? I first had the chicken salad sandwich with tots. It was delicious and probably the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever eaten! We sat at the bar and watched the ever-changing, binge-able TV show playing there. The second time we came, I had the Chicago beef sandwich. I didn't like this sandwich, and I think the chef made me the roast beef sandwich as it didn't have the au jus and looked the same as another person's sandwich at the end of the bar who had ordered the roast beef. My sandwich was too salty, and the cheese was not melted either. However, we persevered and came back a 3rd time for the meal I've most coveted since seeing their menu - the African Nut Stew. It's a play on the Ghanaian classic chicken and peanut butter stew. The stew was warm and enveloping, like a hug from a relative you haven't seen in years. The peanuts were crunchy, and the smell was delicious. It came with some breadsticks so you didn't miss broth at the bowl's bottom. On top of their sandwiches, Motorboat makes delicious cookies and serves reasonably priced beers. We will, of course, be back!

New favorite sandwich spot in town. Plenty of sandwich styles to choose from. I tried the fish sandwich and the portion sizes was huge. Will definitely come back. Nice neighborhood vibe and ample parking up front.

Hi guys! This place is so cute. Saw it a couple weeks ago and was finally able to pop in and check it out. I believe it is fairly new so they had an updated menu, I ordered a tuna melt and sloppy Joe. Both Sandwiches were so delicious, prices were also great for what you receive. I definitely will be back to try their other dishes. Service was great for the short time I stayed in the establishment. They have some games to play and their bat area is nicely decorated. 5/5 stars :) I recommend this place.

    Pastrami on rye

So pleased to try this place! I just really wanted a good sandwich to go so I ducked in! The place has a really great vibe, the staff was awesome. Had a pastrami on rye. Great sandwich! Good pastrami, good bread, good mustard. Came with chips on a little pile of pickles. Even the pickles were great. Definitely going to be making stops here in the future to try other items

I want to thank Dave for reaching out and taking the time to understand my concerns about my previous experience. That effort mattered. I recently had the chance to visit again on a Friday evening. It wasn't overly busy, I was seated promptly, and my server was attentive throughout. I tried a few new items along with some of my favorites, including the Korean BBQ Sticky Ribs (hopefully I got that right). This time, I left satisfied with the overall experience, and I felt it was only right to come back and share that update. One thing I will say, Friday evenings seem to be a better fit for me than a midday Saturday visit, especially with how busy the BeltLine can get.

The ribs struck that magical sweet-meets-savory harmony, like a perfectly composed song. The pork bao buns? Pillowy clouds of joy, cradling glossy, sweet glazed pork that practically melted on cue. The dumplings were tiny treasure chests of flavor, so good they didn't even need a dip to shine. And the bibimbap? A layered masterpiece, each bite a new surprise that had me doing a quiet little happy dance in my seat. The ambiance felt light and breezy, with charming wooden booths that invite you to linger... though the seats themselves seem to encourage just a slightly shorter stay. Service, however, was a tale of two moods. Our main server was an absolute gem--warm, attentive, and lovely. But one food runner brought a storm cloud to the table, delivering dishes with an energy that felt more "battle scene" than "dinner service." After one particularly dramatic plate drop, we kindly asked for a different runner. Thankfully, the food worked its magic and kept the overall experience glowing brighter than the brief shadow.

I ordered the Macarrones con Trufa, Gambas Al Ajillo, Picanha Churrasco. The Macarrones con Trufa was absolutely delicious and swimming gooey cheese! Highly recommend as well if you love truffle--I ended up ordering a second one of these because of how delicious it was. The Picanha was also a huge winner! This is by far one of my favorite cuts of meat. It's super juicy and they do a great job of rendering the fat. Bonus point for adding chimichurri to it. I also ordered a second helping of this one. As for the Gambas Al Ajillo, it was just ok. The shrimp was cooked really well, but the flavor lacked the strong punch of garlic and spice that I'm used to. Now I will have to say that the service at the beginning could've been a tad better, but I realize the were dealing with a situation that occurs often in restaurants. My friends and I had a reservation, but the table they were going to seat us at was still occupied by a group of people that stayed much longer than they were supposed to, so we had to wait. The manager came by to help us out, so we wouldn't have to wait too much longer and offered us a table that was outside but not under the tent. Thankfully, it was not raining, and we had a great view to people watch on the Beltline before our food would come, so we didn't mind at all. However, as soon as we sat down, we noticed that one of the legs of the table was broken and unstable, and we were worried that it may collapse. The manager came back out and apologized, but he stated that our original table was still occupied by that group and he didn't want to have to ask for any customers to leave. By some miracle, that group ended up leaving a few minutes later (if not, we were honestly planning on trying out a new restaurant since that table outside was unstable). The whole thing left us with a sour taste, but that was immediately quelled with how amazing our waitress was! She was super attentive and personable overall! I honestly just removed one star for the above experience since this seemed to be a one-off incident.

We only did appetizers and drinks here because it is on the pricier side, but well worth it. Sitting at the bar, we got to chat with the bartender a bit too. It's relatively new to their menu. It has passion fruit and is comparable to a Pornstar Martini x Pink Lemonade. The other is an Iberian Old Fashioned - a stronger smokey drink, but can definitely taste the bacon on the back end. If you want a table you may have to wait, but we were able to walk straight up to the bar. It was a little loud, but we could still hear each other comfortably. We started with the sangria flight -- fruity and delicious. Our first appetizer was the papas bravas, crispy with just the right amount of spice. We also had the beef empanadas with chimichurri sauce, which were excellent. Next were the steak skewers, seasoned to perfection (though I do wish they offered a choice of cooking temperature). The octopus was my favorite -- char-grilled, tender, and full of flavor. We also tried the mac and cheese. It came out a little loose at first, but after sitting for a bit, it had a nice bite, especially with the chorizo. We finished with the shrimp in garlic butter and crostinis -- flavorful, garlicky, and one of our favorites of the night. Overall, this is one of the best tapas spots we've had in or around Atlanta. It's definitely our new favorite -- even over some of the local favorites in Decatur.

The Christmas pop-up just began and we were there right soon after they opened their doors ob Tuesday night. If going here doesn't get you in the Christmas festivities mood I don't know what will. The place is over-decorated and that is the point. It is all things Christmas and is warm, comfortable, and an overload for the senses. Lights, decorations, artwork, Christmas movies on their big screen, Christmas music on their speakers all contribute to a fun, lively environment. And, of course, there is also a Christmas-themed drink and tapas menu. Drinks are served in various Christmas glasses and mugs, all of which you can buy to take home if you'd like. They also have a seasonal line-up of craft beer. My wife had a Christmapolitan and I had the Yippie Ki Yay, both were delicious and packed a punch. For food we ordered: Donner & Blitzen (charcuterie board) - simple, yet great tasting meats & veggies Frosty Fries (fries w/warm beer cheese) - even though this was a good amount of fries, we had wished that we ordered two of these because they were that incredibly tasty. The beer cheese is killer with these hand-cut parmesan fries! Felix Navidad (brisket tacos) - these were flavorful, but they were only two small tacos for $11; for the money, I would definitely get something else next time. Gingerbread & Friends (cookies) - we got these for dessert, but would suggest a pass on them as they are just store-bought little cookies that you can ice and add sprinkles. This was a fun, memorable experience and anyone who enjoys the magic of Christmas should find their way to Tapa Tapa before the Christmas pop-up ends after the holidays.
