Such an excellent spot in the Virginia Highlands! Service spot on and everything we ate was delicious. It's a fun and lively spot and country music - my fave - was playing in the background. Note the Mac & cheese taco is on the website but not on the menu but you can get it if you ask.

I love Bar.bacoa! I'm sure they know me well as I order from here very often on Uber Eats! Some of my favorites are all of the tacos! Just amazing! The spanish potatoes, beef quesadillas, & the blackened shrimp tostada. The steak salad is so flavorful & tasty! Then my gawd, the dessert! The Chocolate Oblivion Truffle Tart is just to die for! Honestly you can't go wrong with anything here. They know what the heck they're doing in the kitchen!

Really great menu. We got the queso and it was devine! Lots of fun options and quaint outdoor seating. The vibe of the restaurant is very cute. Perfect for a date night or girls night out. The service was really great as well. On the pricier end. Would go back to try some of their other items!

My brother and our group of friends came here for lunch today to escape the heat from walking around the Virginia Highlands arts festival. It was a first visit for all of us. The entrance has a nice bar area plus there is indoor and outdoor dining towards the back of the restaurant. We chose a table inside for a break from the heat. Everyone was super friendly and efficient. The menu had a great selection of food to please everyone and featured tapas for sharing as well as traditional main dishes. In addition they had four brunch specials served from noon until 4pm. Our group ordered a variety of items including the blackened shrimp tostada, the pork carnitas, the Peruvian chicken tacos in both corn tortillas and in lettuce wraps. We also ordered the mimosas and vinho verde white wine from Portugal. For dessert we ordered the tres leches cake and the churros. We finished with coffee. Food and service were outstanding! My one quibble was the lack of any vegan coffee creamer. They didn't have any oat milk or almond milk just traditional creamer or milk. I love this place and it's convenient to my office so I'm excited to come back and dine here again after work!

Stopped in here for a quick dinner during the week, and this place is a vibe! The weather was great, so the patio and even inside was pretty packed so you can tell it's a popular spot. We still got seated right away and got super quick and attentive service. Their taco menu is so good! I tried the Korean bulgogi taco and the buffalo cauliflower taco. I got the buffalo cauliflower on lettuce wrap and I wish I had gotten both on the lettuce wrap. It was by far my favorite and gave it such a fresh element! My fiancé got the paella and it wasn't very memorable, just okay. Will probably try more of a taco variety and more tapas next time. Great menu and ambience!

I have been wanting to try Bar.bacoa for a while now. Unfortunately, I did not have a great first impression. Our server was kind of rude and pretty much ignored us most of the meal. After he delivered our entrees, he didn't even say one word to us again (even when delivering the bill). The food itself was really good, and I definitely will try it again at some point. Loved the Mexican corn!! The biggest issue I had during the night was that we ordered a non-alcoholic (virgin) margarita, and she was served a strong margarita full of tequila. Luckily, she was just taking a break from drinking and does not have an issue with alcohol. But as sobriety becomes a larger part of our society, restaurants need to treat non alcoholic requests the same way as food allergies. Some people can have major issues with alcohol, and if they took a sip of that margarita they could fall to a rabbit hole. Our server never apologized and did not even address the issue. He just seemed confused. I hope Bar.bacoa can take requests like this more seriously in the future. Because I know some people who are sober and could have major issues if they were given that margarita.

While in Atlanta, two of my friends and I went to Bar.bacoa for a nice dinner since we hadn't seen each other in months. The restaurant is pretty small, so make sure you do reservations if possible. The ambiance is pretty cozy though. The menu had many options. I tried the octopus, carne asada, and calamari. All of the dishes were great. They all received a 5/5. The drinks were strong too, and I only needed one to liven up. All in all, I would recommend Bar.bacoa. The food was great.

A friend and I visited Bar.bacoa for a quick dinner before a show at the Fox. We had a reservation for 5, but due to traffic and parking, we walked in right at 5:15. Aware of their 15 minute hold policy, I even referenced it to the hostess. Thankfully, I didn't let her "Next time, call" remark irritate me. Instead I repeated, "It's 5:15 on the dot." There are lots of menu options--for both food and drink. I opted for the trailer park and brisket mac n cheese tacos--both were amazing! For the drink, I don't recall the name, but it was awesome. I had two. I ended the meal with the churros, which were also delicious. Everything was top notch. I would definitely return!

Visited on a Sunday for cinco de mayo! They were one of few restaurants that allowed reservations. We arrived about 10-15 minutes early and parked in the lot behind the building which offers complimentary valet. We were still able to be seated and given menus. It was our first time visiting but I was happy that they had enough pescatarian and vegetarian options for me choose from. We were brought waters and then ordered the guac as an appetizer and 2 margaritas. He had the herradura palmoa margarita special and I had the teramana mango margarita. I ordered a baja and buffalo cauliflower taco while he ordered the peruvian chicken, salmon, and baja taco. We continued to talk while we waited. Drinks came then the app and our tacos. 1. My teramana margarita was better than his paloma 2. Buffalo cauliflower was better than the baja, but both were good 3. Peruvian chicken, salmon, baja 4. Those house made chips were delish and I enjoyed the guac We overall enjoyed ourselves and it was a nice first stop on our cinco journey (lol).

Quite the yummy experience! I love tapas for the variety you can get in one restaurant, as well as the fun with friends. I would recommend getting 6-8 tapas if you have a group of 4 to make it a powerful experience. Everything was really good, it would be hard to talk about them all! Some of the highlights were the octopus (tender, not chewy!) and Bar.bacoa quesadilla (surprisingly very filled with meat). Service was relatively quick and I appreciated that everything came in a timely manner! I would definitely come here again!

I want to thank Dave for reaching out and taking the time to understand my concerns about my previous experience. That effort mattered. I recently had the chance to visit again on a Friday evening. It wasn't overly busy, I was seated promptly, and my server was attentive throughout. I tried a few new items along with some of my favorites, including the Korean BBQ Sticky Ribs (hopefully I got that right). This time, I left satisfied with the overall experience, and I felt it was only right to come back and share that update. The ribs struck that magical sweet-meets-savory harmony, like a perfectly composed song. The pork bao buns? Pillowy clouds of joy, cradling glossy, sweet glazed pork that practically melted on cue. The dumplings were tiny treasure chests of flavor, so good they didn't even need a dip to shine. And the bibimbap? A layered masterpiece, each bite a new surprise that had me doing a quiet little happy dance in my seat. The ambiance felt light and breezy, with charming wooden booths that invite you to linger... though the seats themselves seem to encourage just a slightly shorter stay. Service, however, was a tale of two moods. Our main server was an absolute gem--warm, attentive, and lovely. But one food runner brought a storm cloud to the table, delivering dishes with an energy that felt more "battle scene" than "dinner service." After one particularly dramatic plate drop, we kindly asked for a different runner. Thankfully, the food worked its magic and kept the overall experience glowing brighter than the brief shadow.

I ordered the Macarrones con Trufa, Gambas Al Ajillo, Picanha Churrasco. The Macarrones con Trufa was absolutely delicious and swimming gooey cheese! Highly recommend as well if you love truffle--I ended up ordering a second one of these because of how delicious it was. The Picanha was also a huge winner! This is by far one of my favorite cuts of meat. It's super juicy and they do a great job of rendering the fat. Bonus point for adding chimichurri to it. I also ordered a second helping of this one. As for the Gambas Al Ajillo, it was just ok. The shrimp was cooked really well, but the flavor lacked the strong punch of garlic and spice that I'm used to. Now I will have to say that the service at the beginning could've been a tad better, but I realize the were dealing with a situation that occurs often in restaurants. My friends and I had a reservation, but the table they were going to seat us at was still occupied by a group of people that stayed much longer than they were supposed to, so we had to wait. The manager came by to help us out, so we wouldn't have to wait too much longer and offered us a table that was outside but not under the tent. Thankfully, it was not raining, and we had a great view to people watch on the Beltline before our food would come, so we didn't mind at all. However, as soon as we sat down, we noticed that one of the legs of the table was broken and unstable, and we were worried that it may collapse. The manager came back out and apologized, but he stated that our original table was still occupied by that group and he didn't want to have to ask for any customers to leave. By some miracle, that group ended up leaving a few minutes later (if not, we were honestly planning on trying out a new restaurant since that table outside was unstable). The whole thing left us with a sour taste, but that was immediately quelled with how amazing our waitress was! She was super attentive and personable overall! I honestly just removed one star for the above experience since this seemed to be a one-off incident.

We also tried the mac and cheese. It came out a little loose at first, but after sitting for a bit, it had a nice bite, especially with the chorizo. I sampled the Spanish grilled cheese with truffle and garlic aioli--being a fan of garlic, the generous use here was particularly appealing. This reinterpretation of a childhood favorite significantly elevated the dish. Another highlight was the scallops. Although the dish included corn (which I generally avoid), I found it delicious, nonetheless. The scallops were cooked to perfection and infused with rich flavors. The chef demonstrates considerable expertise in crafting these recipes, and I have no complaints regarding my dining experience. Now, a few of my favorite drinks--though everyone might not share the same tastes. When I visit a Spanish-style restaurant, I have my go-to options. One of my favorites is the passionfruit margarita; it's so delicious, it feels like you're on an island. Of course, my all-time favorite is the strawberry margarita--so good and flavorful. It has just the right balance of not too much lime, with a subtle hint of mint--who knew we needed that? Another top pick is the 'Dragon on Vacation.' I usually avoid spicy drinks, so I had the habanero removed, but it's still the perfect blend of dragon fruit flavor in a margarita--so good. I also love a good Paloma; I appreciate its little kick. Overall, I have no complaints about these drinks!

Came to this restaurant conveniently placed right off the beltline on Wednesday afternoon to catch…read moreup with my girlfriends. It's always a good time when we meet up with my friends cause the conversation and fellowship is always so sweet, however this time I'd say it was somewhat interrupted. The live music/saxophonist is nice however, it's overbearing. There's a soundtrack playing in the background in addition to the saxophonist and honestly it's just too much. There was always someone yelling over another and we had to continuously ask someone to repeat themselves. They do half off bottles of wine on Wednesdays and that might've been the one thing I enjoyed. As for the food, it was also subpar. I ordered the CRISPY PIMENTON CHICKEN which was essentially a fried chicken with hot honey sauce and that was enjoyable. The caprese salad was good but my tomato's were a bit mushy. I also enjoyed a few of the potatoes brava as well but they weren't anything spectacular. My friends said the steak tasted burnt and needed less charring. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cute as there is indoor and outdoor seating but honestly, I'm not that eager to go back.
