I did speak to freedom forever about getting solar panels but after the numbers didn't add up I told him I was no longer interested. I have called Mosaic several times. They are no help and tell me to make payments. It has started to affect my credit. read more

Do not do business with this company, according to them their company is only paying for the solar panels to be installed. It doesn't matter if they ever work they will continue charging you every month. The company we hired rushed out within a week to install the panels, no permits and electrical not completed with many building violations. Mosaic paid the installation company 100% within a couple days and now we have no recourse or any way to get our system working, it has been 18 months since this all started. We reached out to mosaic and were told that their only concern is that the panels were placed on the roof and we were on our own to get everything else completed. They are partners with the solar contractors and don't care that these companies are ruining people's lives. All we were asking is to put a hold on our payments until the company completed the contract since we have been paying full price for our electrical and full price for a non operational solar system. May 23, 2023: I canceled a solar project before the project was ever done. Mosaic gave them $48,422.99 anyway. No confirmation, no final inspections- they just gave it to them. A year later, May 28, 2024, I get an email that my loan payment with Mosaic is coming up. Baffled, I find that the horrible solar company, Freedom Forever, was funded by Mosaic--and now, Freedom Forever need to initiate a cancelation of the loan. Playing ball to get this thing done, I made the 1st payment of $190. 28 in June 2024. WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION, and against my explicit refusal to pay anything further, they took $190.28 out of my account in JULY 2024. I had to do a police report and involve the Pennsylvania Attorney-General to get the loan cancelled. What a travesty. DO NOT USE EITHER- FREEDOM FOREVER OR MOSAIC. I'm supposed to be reimbursed the $380.56 of MY MONEY they have FOR NO GOOD REASON other than the mutual incompetence. I was refunded for these payments. Also blamed us for their panels not running and after hours of trying to get some help and actually sending them a pic of our breaker box they finally came out and actually went on the roof finally. Took about 7 months to fix till winter and the panels don't produce as much power so ended up paying Duke energy more and having to pay Mosaic for faulty wiring. Rude customer service. I had no problems with this loan company...until I sold my house. I have been going back and forth with this solar company trying to facilitate the loan assumption and have been met with road block after road block. I can't get past the bottom tier of support who snottily tell me that I just need to pay off the remaining balance of $12,000 for a solar system on a house I don't own anymore. Instead of working with me on this, I get phone calls and left messages from their collections department telling me to pay this or else. Absolutely ridiculous. I recommend you stay far away from this company, if your life changes and you want to transfer it will be absolute hell. I'm still trying to get this resolved without a lawyer, but I think that will have to be my next step. The customer service from the agents I have been in contact with has been atrocious. If you are considering Mosaic as your lender. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! I was getting some home remodeling done and I was offered 1 year no interest financing with the contractor we were using. The contractor also turned out to be shady so it seems shady contractors love shady Mosaic and here is why. When you sign a loan with Mosaic, the contractor has free reign to pull money from your loan with Mosaic without your permission or prior authorization. I signed a contract for 23k and I told the contractor I would let them bid on my flooring if they did a good job on my exterior work. I guess my shady contractor salesman was pretty confident he was going to pressure me into selecting them for my floors so he put 40k as the loan amount and the loan was approved for the 40k. The job was scheduled to start on 5/20. Keep in mind I had already paid the shady contractor a $1000 cash deposit which is the MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE DEPOSIT in the state of California. They are prohibited by law from asking for OR ACCEPTING anything more. On 5/16 I receive an email from Mosaic that they had issued the contractor 12k for "interior remodel". The contract was for exterior paint and siding. I message the finance person for the contractor and she tells me it's "standard" for them to get 30% from the lender as the first payment. I'm like ok well the job is only 23k so 12k is over 50% but I'm like whatever I am excited for the work to be done. Fast forward to June 1st and the contractor tells me the work is done and asks me to sign the completion form so they can get paid from the lender. At this point I walk the house and realize how substandard the work is and this is the beginning of a year long dispute with the contractor involving CSLB and their bond company. The contractor offers me a refund right away but demands I remove my yelp review and CSLB complaint. During the process I file complaints and disputes with Mosaic since they are the ones who paid this shit contractor half the money before they even started the job. Mosaic gives me the run around on the phone. Says they will "open an investigation" but of course they do nothing. All they do is go to the contractor and if the contractor doesn't agree with you they side with the contractor and close the case and say you still owe us the money that we paid to the contractor without your authorization!!! Lucky for me I fought the contractor all the way through a bond claim and mandatory arbitration through the CSLB so the contractor was forced to cancel the loan. They sent me an email with a case number asking for the buyers information once in escrow now they are changing their mind and saying that the loan is not assumable. If the seller cancels I will take legal action since in my contract is states that the loan is assumable if the seller qualifies and they provided me with a case number. Consumers beware. Beware, once you sign the loan documents that date is used for when payments are due along with when you have to pay the additional lump sum from the tax credit. Solar takes a long time to get set up and turned on. We had to pay prior to having solar. Since we signed the paperwork in July, but did not get solar turned on until after January, we could not file for the solar credit for that year. Now to get the promotion interest rate to continue the sum is due before we can file the taxes and Mosaic WIll NOT push the date. Very disappointed on how this was handled. read more

My intro interest rate was horrid, but I needed a roof replacement and got the loan when interest rates were obnoxious, so no shock there. Autopay gives a quarter percent discount. The problem is, they don't draw the payment on the same day each month. This kept causing problems at my bank. I set up autopay from my bank, but that doesn't get the discount. Their website shows I still owe the same amount I borrowed after 20 months of payments. Even though I have been paying $100 to $200 over the payment due almost every month, not one penny has gone to principal. Their explanation is that interest started accumulating the day they released payment, not the date of install, not the date of the first billing cycle. So they charged me about 6 months of interest before I ever got the first billing statement to make the first payment. I tried to call them about a refinance (hours were quoted 8-8 PST). I called at 8 Eastern (5 PST) but was told they were closed, try again later. read more

They have the most ridiculous and senseless rules that block people from transferring loans, even when buyers are fully qualified. Thanks to their idiotic policies, I've lost TWO buyers, both approved for a home loan, but somehow couldn't get approved for a $158 per month loan--what a joke! We even went as far as trying to add someone to the loan, and still, they refused to approve it. Their practices are not only worthless, they're downright unethical. I had a loan, had automatic payments setup, was paying fine for months, and then they suddenly stopped taking payments, cut off my online access, and sold the account, stating it was a charge off. My bank account has been the same for the last 8 years, and I never cancelled autopayment, and yet they are reporting a charge off. Buyer beware here, this could have much further repercussions than you could ever imagine. Predictably, Mosaic has been completely unresponsive since this happened, and refuse to even talk to me. Jace S. has replied to this comment with the same thing he did on other sites stating it was important to them and how they would email me to discuss. Sadly, they don't. Multiple reviews on multiple sites, Jace and Alicia reply to them all, saying they care, saying they will email, they don't. Its all a PR stunt and attempt at damage control. FYI, they do indeed sell loans, if they didn't, why would I receive bills from another company at this point? And you absolutely cancelled the autopay. Even if it was a system failure on your end, its your mistake, and your job to fix it. I'll even attach their "reach out via email" they promise. Solar Mosaic failed to do their due diligence to verify that the solar contractor finished the work prior to issuing them the funds for my solar project completion. When the contractor became unresponsive, I notified Solar Mosaic and they contracted Omnidian to assist me with completing the project. However, months have passed without any progress. I have called Mosaic several times to request a pause on the loan or to be issued credit for what I have paid on the loan since the solar panels are not installed and working. However, none of the representatives have been helpful and they argue that I have to continue paying the loan or it will affect my credit. This is considered extortion. There was a breach of contract from the moment the contractor lost their CSLB license. Solar Mosaic did not reach out to me to find out how the remediation process has been going until I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I was supposed to receive a call from their billing department in regard to the credit, but I have not heard from them. I have done my research and Solar Mosaic should have obtained a compliance and completion inspection form prior to issuing the funds to the contractor. The contractor advised Mosaic of the project completion, and Mosaic should have verified it. If they did, I would not be in this situation. Solar Mosaic has been operating since 2010 and issuing loans for solar projects so it is concerning to find out that they do not take the proper steps before issuing funds to contractors and verifying the contractors' legality to protect the customer and the investment. I have also found several complaints about similar situations with Solar Mosaic. They are unreliable and unethical like the companies they work with. Paying for a service that I am not getting is a huge financial burden and I extremely frustrated with Solar Mosaic because they only care about making a profit and do not have the customers' best interests in mind. Earlier this year, I purchased a home that had solar panels financed by Mosaic. In Feb of 2024, I was approved to assume the loan from the seller and signed everything I needed to. The seller never signed their part, so Mosaic cancelled the loan assumption. I was not made aware that Mosaic was having difficulties getting a hold of the seller nor was I told that anything else needed to happen in order for me to assume the loan. Since the loan was still in the seller's name, it became delinquent. I finally got a hold of the seller and told them to contact Mosaic. The seller brought the loan current and told me Mosaic would be calling me to start the process over again. They never called me. I called them last week, and they told me I have to apply again resulting in another hard hit on my credit. I applied and this time I was denied because of delinquent payments. They use equifax and experien. I verified with both bureaus that I do not have any delinquent payments on my credit report. I called their underwriting office and tried to offer to send my official credit reports so they can see that I do not have any delinquent payments. I think they are counting the seller's delinquent payment(s) against me that occurred during the loan assumption process. This is unfair as the loan was never in my name. I've called several times and requested to speak to a manager twice. I also emailed both of their email addresses twice. I have not gotten any response. When I brought my concern to them last week, they talked in circles, blamed the seller, and then told me to reapply in 30 days (which another hit on my credit). I don't have any delinquent payments on my credit report, so I am not sure what they are expecting to change in 30 days. I was also told that they were doing soft hits but they are not. So far, I have not been able to assume the loan for the solar panels that are on my house. They refuse to remove the panels or remove the lien even though they are not in my name. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MOSAIC IN ANY WAY!! Had a solar loan through them that we were assured multiple times was transferrable if we sold the house. Three years later, we're getting ready to sell and move, we call and confirm we can still transfer the loan as long as the buyer is approved. A few months later, we're under contract and the buyer has agreed to assume the loan. We contact Mosaic to start the process, as they instructed, and we were told that they had "recently" changed their rules and no longer are allowing the transfer of loans......less than 10 days from closing the sale of the house. According to their legal rep, "On page 21 of the contract, (buried in a paragraph), they reserve the right to change the conditions of transferring the loan at any time". Had no choice, had to cover the remaining cost of the loan at closing, leaving us with less than half what we were projected to make for our next house. I can understand changing business needs, but as a company, there should be a grandfather clause for customers who've already established the loan under the pretense that it could be transferred. We currently have our home for sale and under contract. Our buyers (both husband and wife) were originally denied to assume the solar loan. Mosaic said one thing we/the buyers can do is submit for a manual review to be done to see if they can get approved that way. The manual review was originally requested June 8th and the paperwork was sent in on June 10th. I as the seller was told 7-10 business days, and the buyers were told 7-12 business days. I called in a week later to see if there was an update and was told "sorry it's not 7-10 days but 7-15 business days". We called in again and was told that we would have an answer on or before June 23rd. June 23rd comes and still no answer so we call and was then told "sorry but we didn't get any paperwork from the buyers til June 21st so we need an additional 7-15 business days". We have emails to back up to when the paperwork was sent in. We call in again on Jun 29th for an update and was told once again we will have an answer on or before July 7th. We have requested to speak to the supervisor and every time, the supervisor is unavailable to speak and will call us back and never does. We ask to speak with the supervisors boss and is told the supervisor is now the manager. We don't know what they are trying to pull by refusing to answer but this company is extremely shady and if I would have known that I would never have gotten solar. Save yourself the headache and don't do business with this company. read more

Their agents or representatives will tell you that solar will lower your power bills but instead it either stays the same or increases. What you pay the electric company may decrease but it is more than made up by your payments to the MOSAIC Solar loan. The money you put out before you got solar is just the same amount of money you put our after getting solar. So don't believe them when they say solar will decrease your bills when in fact your bills stay the same, whether you pay MOSAIC or the electric company. And another issue is that when things go wrong with their contractors all they can say is, "we are just the loan company." They might as well say, "we are just the loan company, pay us our money now!" Please have that in a loop in your head when you consider getting a loan from SOLAR MOSAIC. Once you sign on the dotted line they forget about you. They say, "well we've hooked another sucker." Mosaic will bill you 2 months after your solar is installed whether you get power or not. In our case it took 9 more months of constantly calling Mosaic to get any action done. In fact, I believe that Mosaic would have happily collected our payments without confirming if we had power or not. They didn't care that we would have had to pay Mosaic and the electric company at the same time, nearly doubling our electric bills, not decreasing it. Now when I calculate it, loan and the electric company, it is about the same as before solar. CUE HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER! Ha! HA! HA! HA! We could have paid the same without the added headache. Not only did Mosaic not help, they also don't watch over their contractors, whether they are doing their jobs or not, or whether you have power or not. Instead all they say is call your power company or the contractor, you need this done or this done. And ultimately it just boils down to them not doing anything. I work overseas and am home rarely, I gave my wife the go ahead to have solar installed on our home in hopes that it would be saving us money, it took a long time to get the system running and my wife is still having issues. I recently did a look into my credit and found that not only have I been paying for near two years now on the system they show that I have made no payments to the principal amount which is higher than what I was originally told it would cost. How is it legal for this company to apply the monthly payments to interest only? I am hoping I can make large payments in the near future to principal only and start getting this overpriced system paid off. They use fake paperwork to prove you have "Permission to Operate" even though your utility has not given you said permission and refuse to help you actually complete the process of getting your system operational. They have to be in on it with these solar companies, because they let them provide their own evidence that your system was installed without ever actually talking to you, the customer. Worst company that I have ever worked with. I wish I could leave a negative star review. They financed my solar project, which I cancelled a year ago, and therefore never actually received any solar. Now, 14 months after I cancelled it, they are trying to charge me for the loan for a service that I have never received. The installer has confirmed the cancellation, but Mosaic says that the installer actually stated the project was continuing. When I asked to have a copy of the message from Freedom Forever that the project was continuing, I was told that it was sent on a private inter-business communication channel that could not be shared with the public. WTF?! I had a conference call with the Installer and Mosaic with the installer stating that they have in fact cancelled the job and Mosaic saying that they had to have a specific person send a message to a specific person otherwise it would not be accepted. This is a shady business that attempts to take money from people for loans that should not have even been opened and refuses to do anything about it. They refuse to help, they refuse to try and fix the issue. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. read more

Working with Mosaic was easy. However, it turns out that when you take a loan, they put a lien on your house (something called a UCC lien). In order to refinance your house, they charge $250 to remove the lien and to then reattach it with the new mortgage. Other finance companies with a similar lien policy don't charge anything. If you're planning to refinance (for example, to help pay for solar panels or a new roof) do it before you sign for the loan. You can imagine the difficulty of selling your house. read more

Well I see that I am not the only one who cannot get my account credited after my bank sends the check and comfirms that it has been cashed. After three ACH transfer payments to Mosaic my checking account was hacked via ACH transfers for the first time in over 29. Mosaic is the only company of which I have ACH transfers taken out of my account. Is it just a coinsidence that only my checking account was hacked and not my savings, or other accounts at my bank? So I had to close my checking account immediately and notified Mosaic of such immediately after, which was 3-days prior to my next payment due date. I had to open a new checking account and the bank issued a check to Mosaic, which has been cashed, but Mosaic is blowing up of my phone telling me I have not made my payment, they have raised my interest rate because they consider this payment late and they cannot find the cashed check, despite the fact I have given them the confirmed bank information that the check has been cashed. Mosaic has opened a case number for me, but if you respond to their mail with the case number you get back a canned response with a new case number. I'm being sent in circles. Next they are going to ruin my credit because their left hand does not talk to their right hand. The sad part is, that I did not have a choice as to what solar lending company I used. Had I known of Mosaic's terrible reputation prior to getting solar installed on our home I never, ever would have signed the contract. Furthermore, I have discovered that if I want to pay the loan in full at this time it will cost more than the initial fee. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, of which there are hundreds.
