I was there last week to buy 2 money orders for 540 each and when I got home my wife informed me that they were supposed to be made for 520. No big deal right. I went the next week to change them. The nice lady at the desk told the that they would have to cash them first and then I would have to buy new ones. I waited and they gave me 980 dollars back instead of 1080. I noticed and she said "oh yeah there is a 10 % fee to cash them. She did point out that it is written on the wall. I understand that I should have paid more attention, but she could have told me that the fee was 10% otherwise I would have just kept them to pay rent with them. Not only did I not get the 40 bucks I made those money orders for, but paid 100 to cash them and needed 60 more to buy what I needed in the first place. Not a good day. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. Unfortunately On December 14 2023 I went in to change a check. This is not who I bank with thankfully. I stopped by because it was the closest bank to me on my way home. Worst mistake.! There was only one teller open. 2 people in line. Waited 45 mins to get any help. I spoke to the manager and she was extremely rude. Wasn't of any help, she was very dismissive. I asked her for her name she said I didn't need to know that. Will not be returning after this horrible experience, ever!. I did call customer service and they said they don't take any complaints but this definitely needs to be said. People can not be getting jobs in customer service and hating their job. I apologized to the teller because I knew it wasn't her fault that they were understaffed. I am getting evicted because they are holding my award check from CA COVID-19 rent relief program that I have been waiting for since 2021. The check dated 4/24. I couldn't find anywhere else that would accept it first of all but that's a whole new story..... The store manager Monta Pratt had to fax my info and a copy of the check to her mysterious "Boss". I say that because when I did some research I found info that led me to believe that it is not following regulations to hold the funds of government awarded emergency check, I called back to tell Monta what info I found and she was like "oh....ive never heard anything like that" and "oh....if I would have know u wanted your money right away we wouldn't have cashed it"! So I asked for the freakin boss name she spoke to and guess what? The heifer refused to give it to me! Then she played dumb like "well there's lots of bosses that are over my head"....tf?? I'm like ahhhh duh the one you were on the phone with who told u to tell me I can't come until the 17th. (Went in on the 3rd). Like really Monta.....I asked u numerous times to ask your mysterious "boss" if there's any way I can get my funds that day? Any of them? None? Ok so I leave with zero dollars and have to wait 2 weeks? Yeah I tried to call the number posted on the wall, but they were closed. Mind u I took an Uber from SF that cost me $61 one way. Rules of the program say I only have 15 days to remit funds to landlord or face penalties, fines and even authorities. The check expires in 30 days and they will not reissue under no circumstance. Labor Day weekend and my payroll check still did not come through when I needed it. On a Monday Labor Day, amen I found online this company located in Alameda. From the first call I made to get further information, Manta gave excellent customer service over the phone, answering all my questions & reassured that she'd be happy to help me when I decide to come to their location. I received service with a smile & going the extra mile to make sure I got the help I needed. It was super easy & I was able to pay back my loan over the phone. This company should not be way at the bottom when your on google looking for a company like this. It should be on the very top! I was patient enough to scroll til I found them, & so happy they spoke English to help me over the phone so I didn't waste a trip to drive out to them. Good for a quick loan if your in a jam. Just try not to rely on it all the time. Have always had good service and friendly employees. Close to where I live so that is a plus. The girls have been great, however there was 1 guy at one time that wasn't friendly. He wasn't mean or bad, just seemed like a robot going through the motions. I had one of the worst experiences at this location, and it happened over the course of three days. On the first day, the girl working there became extremely rude and racist towards me the moment she found out that I was sending money to a muslim family in Turkey. It was almost as if her entire demeanor changed towards me. When I returned the second day to inform them that I needed to change the name of the receiver, she told me to call the number and when I did, I was told that I can get a refund and then rewire the money with the correct name. When I returned for the refund, the other worker there told me that they were out of cash and I would have to go somewhere else. I returned on the third day to get a refund and rewire and then I was told very rudely that I can only get the cash back (excluding the fees) and cannot resend it at that location. The worst part of it all was the complete lack of knowledge or concern on the part of the cashiers, who had decided that they did not want to help. My humble request is to please train the people that work there properly, which includes teaching them common courtesy. It will make the entire process go smoothly and customers won't have to take their business elsewhere. read more

We all know that it's better to avoid payday loan places but this place is worse than the usual check-cashing business. They're at a nice shopping center in Alameda so that's good but the workers are very unfriendly. I'm sure it would be hard to work in such a place but they don't have enough employees. You'd think that the owners made enough money with the high interest they charge but it seems they don't want pay people to keep the office open either. There is often a "gone to lunch" sign in the window and you have to wait an hour for them to come back. Then they're rude on top of it. read more

Awful experience with this store! I got the bright idea of purchasing a prepaid credit card for my son who is traveling abroad with a group of students. Figured it would be safer than carrying cash. Only wish I thought of it sooner so I could have done it through my bank. First I purchased one card and the other parents thought was a good idea so I went back the next day and bought 6 more. The girl that sold me the first one suggested that I try it to make sure it worked. So later that night I tried it at Nob Hill, declined. I called on Saturday just as they were getting ready to close. They asked me to call the customer service number on the card. I did that and heard message about them switching banks but it shouldn't affect the card in your possession, blah, blah, blah. I noticed one of of the options was "activate card" so I did that with each card, figuring that must have been the problem. (Even though I was told they were activated when I purchased them.) Tried to make small purchases again at Walgreen's and at Safeway, both were declined. Now it's Monday, day before the trip. I go to the store at 3:30pm, doors are locked but it clearly states hours are 10am to 6pm M-F. I see people inside so I wait for someone to come out. The girl tells me she needs to take her lunch and I explain my problem and say it cannot wait so she reluctantly lets me in with a big sigh. She called the district manager and put me on the phone with him. He apologized profusely saying it was because of the bank switch and I was given the wrong cards. So they were going to unload the old ones and load some new for me. Almost an hour later they tell me the reason the cards did not work was because you can only have 3 cards under the same social security number. Ok, I get that, but don't you think someone there should know that? Apparently even the District Manager didn't know that. Ugh! Anyway, they gave me all the money back, hence one star, but now that kids have to carry cash. It felt like I was pre-qualifying to buy a house. Anyway, I figured with all the fraud that probably happens in that industry, they are just being cautious as to who they loan money to. So for anyone looking to borrow money from them, you best come correct. I recommend that you take a look at their website to see what is required before heading down there. The Customer Service level at first was ok. . The person tending to my loan was new so it took a little longer that normal probably to process everything.. That's ok with me though because she was very nice to deal with. So since my first visit I've been there a few more times and things go very smoothly for me now. Amy tended to me yesterday and was extremely helpful and kind. The Manager Tuyen is always friendly and helpful.
