Today was my first time visiting this branch to withdraw cash, and I was truly impressed by how kind and helpful everyone was. Chethana and Paul were especially friendly and professional, and they even apologized several times for the wait. The branch is clean and comfortable, and I'm very grateful for the excellent service. It has been a long time since I experienced such kindness.

You see a person you consider a friend that you do business with, and yell out to him to help. He comes to you, and has the tools to get you out. He thinks to himself, I can get him to safety, but I was not the one who pushed him in, so I have no liability, so I am just going to watch him go under. That paints the picture of my bank for 50 years, Wells Fargo. Someone was scammed in our family. We went to Wells Fargo Fraud, gave them names, account numbers, and more proof. They said we were very informative, and had a good case. They also verified that the money had beed deposited into a Wells Fargo account in New Jersey, and that the money was till there. They told us that it could not be withdrwn till the next day. They told us they could flag that account, and put a hold on that account. We only needed to have a hold put on it for a few hours. They refused to help us. The next morning, the money was gone. Because they were not liable for the scam, they refused to assist us in protecting our money, even though they told us they could. They were in the clear. They had a choice of the money staying with their 50 year customer, or going to a scammer in New Jersey. Were know where their heart is! By the way, all of this took place just minutes after the branch had closed. If the branch was open, they would have taken care of this. By the time we could have gotten to the branch the following day, which we did, it was noon in New Jersey. Here is a statement from a Wells Fargo Website. Wells Fargo has implemented policies to protect seniors from potential fraud by allowing staff to ask questions regarding large withdrawals or transfers. This is part of their commitment to safeguarding vulnerable clients and ensuring that transactions are legitimate and authorized. Wells Fargo's Policy on Senior Transactions Wells Fargo has specific measures in place to protect seniors. Fraud Prevention -- Staff are trained to identify and question unusual transactions to prevent elder fraud. Legal Framework -- New banking laws permit banks to freeze transactions for up to 14 days if fraud is suspected. Client Education -- Wells Fargo encourages seniors to be aware of potential scams and to report suspicious activity. Community Involvement -- The bank promotes local initiatives to raise awareness about elder financial abuse. None of the above was done!

I was referred to CBB by a nonprofit accountant consultant who highly recommended going with them. I never expected the outpouring of support from Helen, our banking representative at CBB who went above and beyon the call of duty to get our organizations banking documents and our donation portal set up so quickly. Helen actually came out, jumped on BART to visit me during my lunch hour at work to deliver important papers for my board of directors to sign then return to her. I was amazed that she also extended her support by meeting me at our office location in Alameda after hours on a Sunday afternoon to receive the signed documents! Our donation portal opened yesterday afternoon and at this writing is accepting credit card donations. Helen is a fantastic representative for Community Bank of the Bay, the bank appears to have hired a true grass roots leader in helping all nonprofits get off the ground, she was also spotted during a nonprofit event in Oakland by one of our board members doing what she and Community Bank of the Bay does best - Supporting the Nonprofit community and going beyond and above of what my expectations where. If I could give 10 stars I would, this is the Bank you need to support all your nonprofit banking needs, led by a true grass roots individual who genuinely cares for your needs. I am very glad that we met and through everything I had gone through she was able to be our light to the dark. I am a long time customer with Wells Fargo and I believed with my loyalty and status would have had a smooth experience, nothing close to that. I was very upset with the way I was treated and really had lost hope of what the future held. When Susan came in from Fremont Bank, I was reminded that there are GREAT people out there. She was very kind and available for any questions. I highly recommend Susan to everyone who is looking for a mortgage loan bank. Go see Susan at Fremont Bank, she knows her stuff! Thank you again Susan and Ryan Lepore (and Fremont Bank) for making a dream a reality! Mesfin Tadesse

I went into the San Ramon branch on 11/7, the day after the final deposit (wire) into the trust checking account. The money was already in the account and ready to be distributed. I told the staff that there would be 2 checks (debits) coming in to that account for ~$370k each. I told them who they were for and, since there would be no more income for the trust, to close the account when both checks cleared and the balance was zero. I told them that I was heading out of the country in 2 days and wouldn't be available for a week. I asked if they needed anything more and was told they put the notes into the account and all was set. I was then called the next day to approve one of the checks. I told them I already did that and there would be one more check and make sure it is processed. Then, while I was out of the country and no phone access, I received an email from my office saying that Fremont Bank needed to talk to me. I had to pay $30 for a phone connection. It was after hours and they don't have an answering machine or service. So, called again the next morning and was told they bounced (returned) the check already because I wasn't immediately available to confirm the check. These people are incompetent. While I had phone service I called the corporate headquarters and filed a complaint. I was promised someone from HQ and San Ramon would call me back. No one ever did. When I returned, I spent another $30 to wire the money to the beneficiary (they didn't want me to do that but now had no choice). I used the Danville branch this time. It took about 30 minutes to get the wire handled and was assured that they would close the account as soon as the wire went through. Today, I received a call from the San Ramon branch demanding that I make a deposit or they would close the account. I would use a stronger word than incompetent but Yelp would likely not allow my review. Don't use Fremont Bank unless you want to waste your time.
