I read about this place on Eater Boston and put it on my must try list. So far I've only gotten their mushroom and garlic aioli pizza to go, and I'm eager to try more. The mushroom and garlic flavors came through, and the crust is outstanding. It's crunchy even though it's thick. The top of the pizza was a bit greasy, which I anticipate craving after drinks. Could be one of the best pizza spots in Boston. Three stars for the ingredients and crust, -2 stars due to the fact that the top half of every slice gets way too soggy. Have had the hamburger themed pizza and the sausage/onion/pepper pies so far and will be back at some point. Already good, could rival Regina & Santarpio with that one tweak. read more

They finally opened and I must say it was worth the wait. I got a Reuben and it was very very tasty. a little different than a normal deli Reuben but just as good. Have you ever order a meal as a treat and you're so excited to get it and then your just disappointed? This place is mediocre at best. I understand that it's during COVID and everyone is doing their best but this place was not good. It is over priced for the quality of food. The descriptions sound amazing but then the food underwhelms. My antipasti salad was pathetic (not at all like the picture) and didn't have dressing. We ordered the Tuscan chips and dip and only the chips were delivered. The sub we ordered was on really good bread but that's about all I can say. Heard really great things about this place so I decided to order through Uber Eats last night. I understand that this could be because of Uber Eats and the way the ticket is printed but almost every part of my order was incorrect. I ordered: 1. Garlic buffalo wings- Boneless: I receive bone-in wings instead. The sauce was really good, not super spicy. Blue cheese included was also great. 2. Rhode Island Calamari- Instead I received a huge bowl of french fries with super tough pieces of calamari on top. Definitely not what I ordered. 3. Diet Pepsi- didn't receive this item. 4. The French kiss signature sandwich- sandwich was good but very dry. Not sure that they remembered put the horseradish sauce on it, didn't taste it at all. Uber eats only refunded me for the Diet Pepsi since I technically received the other items despite them being incorrect. I hope this was just a fluke experience. read more

Ok so I'm at the Hyatt for the night due to seeing a concert in Medford and not wanting to drive home to East Providence. I want something to eat before the show. I call this place because it's close with good reviews. I ordered the Balboa steak pizza. I didn't realize it came with cheese fondue like in Phili. I'm raised in Boston where Provolone is king. I don't even like the idea of fondue. Sounds like you should eat it with a miniature poodle on your lap wearing a pink sweater. The dog, not you; although . . . So I ordered a way bigger pizza than I needed. My mind set being I would share it with hotel staff & my concert buddies & anything left would go home to my significant other. The cost of the pizza was $ 32.00 including tip & delivery fee. 18" pizza I believe. Big. It was delivered in less than 45 min to the bar in the lobby where I was waiting, beer in hand. There was a shift change and I didn't care to share with the 2nd shift team (another review) so I took my Rocky pizza up to my hotel room. I popped open the box & my jaw hit the ground. Visually . . . It was disgusting. Vomit pie. I was so mad at myself, not the pizza place. I should have read the description A LOT closer. It was a $32 pizza & I was starving so I ate a slice. The smell of the crust was amazing and it tasted great too. The cheese was as repulsive as it looked. I ate two more slices to give me ballast for the night ahead. One of my concert buddies came to my room and I offered him a slice and he wouldn't touch it based on the visual component. I had slices from Mortadella Head a number of times, and they were good, so I ordered a pizza and wings. Wings were pretty flavorless (supposed to be pesto), and simultaneously rubbery (skin) and dry (meat). Pizza was better than that, but I suspect that they took an old pie with most of the same ingredients of the one that I ordered, and just added the other ingredients on top. Very disappointing, for the price, and compared with the slices I have had in the past. Live and learn. read more

PIZZA. So good. Just tried this place and was very happy. Got a slice of buffalo chicken pizza which was incredible, mozzarella sticks which are home made, huge, and incredible and a deli sammie which was fine. 5 stars are for the first two items, so stick with what they apparently do best - PIZZA - and it's awesome. Not sure if they do standard pies too (slices are Grandma slices / pan pizza) but it's so good, not sure I even care. Yay for good pizza in Boston!! read more

I have never been to this place, but always GrubHub from this resto a couple of times! Probably one of my go to every single time I ordered food on the weekends. I absolutely love their Monte Carlo salad with different toppings, AND all of their chicken wings dishes! Pizza is ok. Probably one of the better options in the square. Major turnoff is food hygiene. The girl serving pizza takes your card with pizza grease soaked black gloves, then picks up the phone to take an order, then scratches her head and picks up your slices. They never change their gloves between any of these transactions. What is the point of gloves?!! To keep your hands clean?? I ate in and couldn't keep count of the number of times she touched her face and hair and picked at herself. Then kept prepping pizza slices. Lost my appetite. read more

Lazy Driver didn't want to take the elevator up the stairs. I told her we tipped her well and to come up. Eggplant palm was disgusting! It was not breaded and fried like a normal eggplant parm sub, hardly any cheese or eggplant. The lasagna sticks were very good as well as the mozz sticks. The side of soup that came with my sub was in a dipping container about a tablespoon and a half of soup. Won't be ordering from here again. read more

I love going to Mortadella Head for their pizza. Their originals are delicious, and they kill the classics as well. Salads are good but heavy. Sandwiches are solid but many need to understand the concept of addition by subtraction. Recently my friends and I have had multiple screw ups on our orders. Whether it's having to wait an hour for food, forgetting the dressing for my salad, or chicken for pasta it's really killing my desire to go to Mortadella. I won't stay away because their slices are too delicious but the service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I was hesitant to go here because my high school bully used to call me mortadella head but I got over it and took the chance. Fantastic pizza! I ordered "The Shredder" that comes with pickled jalapeno, pepperoni, basil and honey drizzle. Great flavor, jalapenos had the perfect amount of heat and the honey drizzle was more an accent so not too sweet. My new go to spot they make a great wheel. read more

Ordered takeout using their website. The menu is extensive and all sounds delicious, however when ordering online, only a few items were showing up under each section (sandwiches, pizza, etc.) compared to the long list of items on their actual menu. Ordered for pickup at noon and received an email at 11:30 saying my order was ready. Called and was told that that just meant the online system accepted my order, was told that my order would still be ready for pickup at noon, which it was. The meatball sandwich was delicious, however the housemade chips that are supposed to come with it weren't included when I got home and opened the bag. Overall: food was good but they need to work out the online ordering issues and make sure everything that comes with your order is in the actual order. ------ UPDATE: was going to give this place another try to see if they ironed out the kinks. The meatball sub which was $10 a few months ago is now $15. What a joke. read more

Love this place. Five-star ambience, $5 for what's really two slices worth of delicious pizza, and friendly staff. As Tufts students getting increasingly tired of the dining hall, my friends and I visit once a week religiously and find something new to try every time. Favorite meal I've had was the chicken parm fries, which is just a very good and very sizable chicken parm cutlet on top of delicious garlic fries that somehow stay crispy even when covered in tomato sauce. Without a doubt, MH gives you more for your money than anywhere else in Davis Square. Definitely recommend visiting and sitting down if possible, ordering ahead or for delivery sometimes leaves you waiting longer than would be ideal. read more

I have given them multiple tries but all in all the food is just not that good and the customer service is awful. I went for the side of pasta fagioli but will try the pickled vegetables. The pepperoni pizza is encrusted with well-done roni; the way I like it. My go-to slice is the Pig Mac, a cheeseburger pizza.
