Not bad--it's exactly what you would expect for a pizza shop. I didn't get pizza; I just got mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers for delivery. What I appreciated was that you could choose from a lot of sauce options, and they actually care about giving them to you. I think for what this type of food spot is, it deserves four stars because it does what it says it will. The chicken tenders were huge and meaty. You could easily chop them up and repurpose them for a few meals. They give a generous portion of marinara sauce that tastes like it was made with a little bit of love. Supposed to be 8oz custom blend of ribeye, sirloin and chuck with cheese lettuce, tomato, mayo and bacon. What I received was barely 4oz I'd say of two extremely thin patties like you'd find in the BJ's Wholesale freezer. Absolute huge disappointment. I waited to write about Big Daddy's 2 in East Arlington, in the former Maria's Pizza location at the corner of Thorndike and Mass Ave, until I had tried it at least a few times. In my samples so far I have ONLY tried their plain cheese pizza and salad. The second most important thing to know about Big Daddy's 2 is they make a delicious cheese pizza that is distinct from most of the other restaurants in the area. It leans more towards NY style. It's a little greasy, plenty of cheese, and a nice sauce. It's luscious in your mouth while some other cheese pizzas might be caramelized on the top, or (looking at you Otto) a patchwork of sauce and cheese. If you like a solid, plain cheese pizza, Big Daddy's 2 is a winner. The first most important thing about Big Daddy's 2 is they are _consistent_ ... this is why I waited until I tried it a few times to voice an opinion. The pizza has been exactly the same 3/3 times. I think a lot of pizza places have nailed this consistency, but a lot of places haven't. Score one for Big Daddy's on this point. Finally, I haven't interacted much with the Big Daddy's staff, but when I went in tonight to pick up my pizza and salad, they were friendly and straightforward. My first time coming here it was very close to my hotel walk like 3 mins. On the menu does it really describe what's in the sub so when I asked, he said it comes with everything well I never been here before so I don't know what that is. I ordered the sub bomb. It was good. I need some salt and pepper has more flavor to steak more seasoning Comes with onions, peppers, and diced mushrooms and they say salami, but I didn't see any salami the size of the sub is about 7 incs for the ones that want to know paid 13.40 after tax the staff was pretty friendly. We should had more tables inside. It only had one. But I will be back and there is no sauce on the sub if it had a spicy chipotle mayonnaise that would've been a nice little touch, but it's OK. This pizza is round. It's the whole package. It's cheap, delicious, fresh tasting, hot, flat. The slices are large and foldable with a thin crust. The crust is slightly charred and has a little crumbly Pizzeria Regina char dust on the bottom. The outer crust edge is a crisp lip. I like this pizza a lot. The price is right, especially the Monday extra-large cheese pizza deal. On Mondays, it cost $9.58 with tax, and on every other day, it's $11.99 before tax. Honestly, very worth it. The pizza is huge. It could feed a family. And I realize that some people may want more than cheese, but cheese is the croissant of pizza. If the cheese isn't good, what is? The place is the old-school corner neighborhood pizza place. I like the way it feels inside. The people are friendly and quick. I call. They say 15 minutes. I arrive in 15 minutes, pay. The guy spins with the box from the top of the oven, and there I go out the door. Some places will lie to you about time. It's like they don't understand time, but not at Maria's. Maria's is on time. COVID-wise, people inside were wearing masks. This is reassuring. It's definitely a pick-up or delivery place. Enjoy the food but they Never consistently are open during posted hours, specifically at night/evening. This is now the 3rd straight time I've gone there to get food and both the door is open and the neon Open sign is on/flashing, and I walk in to order and they say, Sorry we are closed. Posted hours used to say 10pm, now say 11pm, but my past 3 visits have been between 8 & 9 PM and each time I've been told they are now closed. When asked what they're open hours are, I've received different answers each and every time. Used to be a super consistent local place to order from before they sold/changed hands recently. I've personally submitted updates to their posted online hours after last visit, and may give them one more chance. But be forewarned "Open" may actually mean "Closed". read more

I got a couple of pizzas last week from here. The pizza is thin crust--it's not quite New York but close given how pizza has changed in Boston to something that is not the pizza of the early 80s and 70s. It is also not exactly the old pizza of the North End but it's close. That's all said to say that it's much better than most of the local pizza--sauce that tastes saucy, cheese in the right proportions and the crust is thinner than most. The price is good. The staff were friendly. My short list locally is Pinos in Cleveland Circle on Beacon Street, Mama Lisa's on Winter Hill, Joes in Medford (not far away), Santarpios and Regina in the North End or Brighton. I steer clear of the other ones which are tasteless round things with not much zesty tomato, crust that crunches either like potato chip-ish texture or is spongy, and cheese that just overwhelms in both tastelessness and such--throwing vegetables or meat on top, although it can look good , does not necessarily fix it. Go try pizza in New York City (Rays), New Haven or what's left in the North End. That's the gold standard. We used to have Capones and the European and that style of pizza is missed sorely. Anyone that can identify old school thin crust pizza where the tomatoe and cheese melt together but still allow one to taste the tomato sauce--let me know. read more

For quick, cheaper food its a good place to stop by. I tried a Italian hoagies which was decent and the other time a calzone which I wasnt to happy about. Calzone's normally have ricotta cheese but they do not add it automaticly. It was huge though no clue what a large would be since I had gotten a small. I didnt try the pizza so cant comment on that. I lived in NY so the pizza they had which I think is greek style was just a little to different looking for my taste. Someday I will have to try it from someplace if I go to Boston again. read more

I had to write a review because I have moved to Arlington and have been frequenting this place. I've been a few times and each time the service is pretty ok. The same dude is there and takes your order. Meh neither friendly nor non-friendly, which I kind of like. I've had the pizza and I have to say it was pretty damn good and I am from Jersey. The sauce is a little sub par, could use some more flavor, but overall the pizza was still good. Sauce could use a little kick shoot, maybe even salt and pepper, oregano, some flavor - who knows. It's bland but the overall other ingredients carried the pizza well. My friend had an eggplant parm from them and it was decent. I mean this place isn't any AUTHENTIC Italian cuisine. It is your standard corner pizza store which is what I am basing my review on. However, I have to say, I have always been satisfied after ordering food from here. Not like WOW or YUCK, just my meal was good. It does the trick for the price point and most of the items being frozen fried. The pizza dough is fresh and they will roll it out in front of you. They are fast too. I would agree with some of the suggestions that they limit the items they carry and make better quality. I also feel like they should include OIL and Vinegar or some sort of house dressing as a staple.
