There are numerous official and unofficial trails, which makes the trip more mysterious and adventurous.  But all trails lead to Mori Point. I tried to make a loop so that we could see different sights.  Started at the paved Calera Creek trail (passed by huge Pampas grasses and some patched of homemade gardens) to Cabrillo Hwy (I do not recommend because of the car noises) to Old Mori Road (shaded and wide), then up the beautiful Bootlegger steps to Mori Point headland.  From there we returned via Mori Buff trail (great workout going up and down the hills). Total distance was about 4+ miles.  Great workout, not too long, gorgeous views with some breeze.  Highly recommend this 1/2 day trip. read more

One of the remaining tranquil hikes to do on the Peninsula that hasn't been overrun with crowds. This was one of the few hikes that wasn't boiling this summer since it's out by the ocean, but the wind can be brutal even in July and August. I did some of these hills even 7 months pregnant and it was a great workout. Pros: Good uphill hike, work those thighs -- big fat burner! Dog friendly -- bay area is losing dog friendly spots, so let's keep this one on the roster by keeping it clean and keeping your dog on leash Great weather in the summer -- cool and not too brutal sun-wise -- most of Pacifica tends to be cloudier and that's perfect for escaping summer heat Clean beach, clean trails, clean boardwalk. Again, please keep it that way and be respectful of cleaning up dog waste. Beach access (flat boardwalk and sand trail) to the right, climbing hills to the left. Some people fish out here on the pier. Amazing views from said hills with full command of the ocean -- feels like you're on the edge of the earth. Cons: Some trails aren't that well maintained (i.e. crevices to jump over, etc) -- for the novice hiker it should still be survivable, but could be a problem for anyone with an injury or for dogs that are less athletic, or if you are bringing a stroller. However, the boardwalk / sand trail would be appropriate in these cases and you still get a great ocean view. read more

Wonderful hike to Mori Point. Steep in some areas but so worth the hike to see the views. A hike right on the edge of the cliffs, so be cautious after rainy weather where the ground can be muddy and slippery. Stepped over streams, walked between 2 huge rocks and took a break at the little garden by the waterfront and many labyrinths on the way. I would definitely hike here again. read more

This is a great spot y'all! Really good trails different ones different terrains, beautiful landscape. Also there's ocean access! You can choose to walk down to the beach or loop over to pacifica peir or walk other trail around the hills. Different spots with good shade, other spots sunny. Parking is in short supply but come early and there will be plenty! Also watch out for ticks! It's tick season and I found one on my dog after forgetting to spray her before our walk. But wear tight pants, use spray on your dog and/or pants & you should be good! read more

I entered from Mori Point Drive on the north right along the highway, and didn't even know that there are other points of access until reading through reviews, so take that into account. Good grief, there are a lot of lovely vistas and hikes in the Bay Area. This little hike isn't much as far as mileage goes, but you can get away from the highway a bit to overlook the ocean, and kind of forget the buzz behind you. The only downside of entering here is that parking is really scarce, and you could either luck into a spot, get creative, or park farther away and find your way back to the entrance and trailhead. It's a nice, easy breezy (with an actual breeze) stroll. Apparently there are more difficult trails if you access somewhere else, but I didn't do that so I can't say how difficult they really are. read more

I came here wanting to do a morning hike and this was definitely a great place for that. I brought my daughter along to come with and it definitely has a family friendly path. It's beautiful to walk through the hills and see the beautiful scenery and walk out to the views of the ocean is breathtaking. The paths are very clean and just so scenic. Parking is limited in the official lot but there is street parking that can lead into the local residential neighborhood. The place does seem to get packed at times so I'm sure during the weekend you may want to come earlier or not during peak hours. This place is incredible and I'll definitely be back. read more

"Ah. The great outdoors!" While a very common phrase, these are words that almost never leave my lips. Thank God for Mori Point and its natural splendor to get me singing a different tune, however briefly. As an indoor hermit, I appreciate this spot due to the very accessible payoff of gorgeous views, provided by hiking for only a few minutes, and the cool breeze that blesses my every sweaty step. This area is dog friendly, family friendly, and (newly discovered) work from home friendly. Signing off with a tip: bring shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty. If you're hiking to the vista point, there's a good distance covered by mud. I brought my new fly knits and had to pass on my experience as a cautionary tale. Was looking for hiking spots to go to during the Labor Day weekend (Sunday) and decided on this as I figured the Marin Headlands area would be busy. Glad I settled on Mori Point as I've always wanted to check out this place anyway. 15-20 minute drive and you get killer views from the top of the trails here. The trails going up the hills look deceiving as it is a steep climb. Not too bad though if you're waiting the right shoes. It was not too crowded. There's beautiful views everywhere you can see. Lots of good photo opportunities too. I love how fog is constantly flowing around and it acts as a nice, natural shade. The parking lot is small and full but it's easy to find parking spots nearby. read more

Another hidden gem Mori Point is wonderful hiking trail. This park has a medium incline into the ocean cliffs that opens up into gorgeous views of rock formations and beaches. Mori Point does not disappoint! I love Half Moon Bay, but I think Mori Point will now be my go to when I'm in the mood for a beachy/coastal hike. There's such a variety of landscapes and the view from the top is simply breathtaking. The viewpoint is also super accessible since there are wooden steps that lead straight to the top, as well as a paved path that encompasses the area with just a slight incline. It's always a plus for me when you don't have to take the same path down! For all you Dogspotters out there, this place is actually pet-friendly! There were so many amazing floofers enjoying Mori Point when we went. You will absolutely be solicited for some head scratches and belly rubs. read more

Loved the coastal trail for a casual stroll but a higher difficulty of the hike would've been nicer. I came here with my friend and my housemates dog on a Sunday for a quick morning hike/stroll which Mori Point is the perfect place to go since it is just a big loop around and doesn't take too long to complete. As I was walking on the trail, there were many instances where I wasn't sure if it was a trail or not. There are some narrow areas and inclines but the trail overall is extremely easy to follow. There was also a part of the trail where we crossed a stream of water, which I wasn't too excited about because the dog got all dirty, but since it was sunny out and there were grassy areas, the dog quickly dried up before we got back to the car. Just a side note, there are no trashcans along the trail so you might have to carry your dog's poop until you get back to the parking area. There were tons of other fellow dog owners and extremely friendly people walking the trail. I saw two parking lots while walking on the trail and plenty of benches to sit and relax before the trail starts. Views were breathtaking and there were two "labyrinths" that I noticed on my walk. Overall, this is just a nice place to stroll, enjoy the views, and catch up with a friend. read more

Mori Point is one of the best coastal hikes I have experienced so far in the Bay Area. There are some great ocean views to experience. You are even able to see all the Pacifica Pier in the distance. It is so peaceful and serene and not overrun with crowds. There was a nice selection of both hills and flat land for a variety of fitness levels. Google maps has the location of Mori Point incorrect slightly, so to get there, you turn off Highway 1 when you see the sign for Mori Point. Parking is free and extremely tough. There are maybe five actual parking spots. The rest of the parking that is available is parallel parking against the curb. We were lucky that we can parallel park in tight spots or else we wouldn't have been to park here at all. The weather is Pacifica is very cool. It was around 60 degrees the day we went and it was perfect hiking weather. Any avid or beginner hiker should put Mori Point on their list of must do hikes. read more

What the trail lacks in difficulty, it completely makes up for in location. I've only been to a few of the coastal trails in the Bay Area, but this is definitely one of the most scenic & memorable ones I've hiked. Lots of great views of the ocean and coast line, with natural rock formations and seashores. We even got to see some whales surfacing from the water and hanging out in the waters nearby. Besides the coastal offerings, the trail itself was surrounding by beautiful vegetation; I would imagine spring time flower blooms would be beautiful here. Really the only down side was that it was a bit chilly/cloudy in the morning, but by noon the skies had opened up and it was a little warmer. Overall, an easy but very enjoyable trail & hike. I definitely would love to go to Mori Point again come spring time. read more

This trail is short, easy to access, full of eye candy every bit of the way and is well traveled by locals and tourists alike. We chose to park at the end of Fairway Dr between the golf course and the neighborhood so that we can get to the trail quickly. There are many other places to begin here, but this seems to be the quickest way to the lookout. The 50yd walk past the backyards of neighborhood homes was interesting, and arrived at the boardwalk leading us over the wetlands conservation area and saw numerous flags marking places where volunteers had planted native wildflowers to restore the area. The boardwalk led us to the beach where we could see whales spouting in the distance, and the Pacifica Pier halfway across the bay. We turned left and climbed the tree-shaded trail to the well-maintained steps that peaked on a set of trails on the exposed ridge. From there, it was a short stroll to the cliffs. Beware that the edges are not marked, and unsupervised children might easily run off the edges... as would overzealous selfie-taking or a photographer asking their subject to back up... In addition, please stay on the well worn trails so that the efforts of the conservationists trying to re-plant wildflowers are not thwarted. The sun balanced the cool breeze coming off the ocean. This would be a picturesque location for a wine and cheese picnic at sunset--but do bring something warm as I suspect it would get chilly rapidly after sunset. We walked an alternate trail back down to the neighborhood and back in the car--5 stars for a short, accessible trail chock full of eye-candy! read more

Mori point is the best place for me to take my family and dog for a hike or what. We love mori point. It is worth taking a hike.

One of my favorite places to go for wildflowers on a relatively easy hike. We parked FREE by Rockaway Beach Plaza, there's separate bathrooms there under the arch. Hiking to Mori Point there's some hills to climb, but nothing too hard. Just take your time or whatever. Once you get to Mori Point & it's Spring you will see tons of wildflowers. We went Sun 4/21/13. You'll have the Pacific Ocean on both sides with views & wildflowers. It's beautiful. Tidy tips, poppies, goldfields, checker bloom, & lupines. We continued hiking to Pacifica Pier, the people are fishing for crab. Did you know they use chicken or squid for bait? That's crazy! Go visit Mori Point for the views & wildflowers now before it's too late. read more

This is a rather random hiking trail that you can do off of highway 1. It's actually pretty easy to miss since the exit is just randomly off of the highway. It seems like most people just try to find street parking. The hiking trails seem pretty mild for the most part. I wasn't planning on going on a hike and I managed okay with my flats (which is not ideal shoes at all for hiking). There are some trails that get you to the top of some giant hill or mountain but you don't have to go all the way to the top. You can still get fantastic views of the sea if you do the very mild trails. The views of the sea are gorgeous. It can get pretty windy though, so dress appropriately! I would definitely consider this place for a casual day hike. read more

I love Mori Point because the trails are open and never feel crowded (great for social distancing) and the view is impeccable. You get hilly incline, beachy sand, ocean views, and lots of wildflowers and wildlife to observe. I usually spent about two hours here and the last time I went I saw people picnicking on the sand and cliffs too. Only downside is there isn't much shade but the flip side is 360 views! Most of the dog owners here are respectful and keep their fur babies on leashes as well. read more

Nice little trail/super easy "hiking" spot. It was really really windy the day we went so make sure to dress appropriately and/or check the weather (a lot of people we saw there had not!). The cool thing about it is that there are a lot of turnoffs and different paths to go on so even though there were a lot of people it never felt too crowded in any one place. This 32-acre dog-friendly park has a lot of history and offers gorgeous coastal hikes with options for a leisurely stroll along the coast or a more challenging hike up the cliff side. We started our hike at the end of Fairway Drive, walked over a wooden bridge in back of some houses. It soon opens up to a wetland, with red-legged frog ponds along a boardwalk. If you continue straight ahead, you'll reach Sharp Park Beach, where dogs are allowed on-leash. The city has proposed to make this beach off-leash, but it's not official yet. If you head to your right, you can walk along the coast via a flat 0.5 mile trail. If instead you go left, you will climb some stairs and reach a gorgeous cliff overlooking the ocean. You can continue ahead along a rocky trail hugging the coast, which soon snakes steeply up the hill for a 1.5 mile hike. During your hike you'll pass through green bluffs dotted with wildflowers and you will have stunning views of the ocean and cliff side. On your hike back you can retrace your steps down the stairs, or instead take the trail to your right, which has a switchback and leads you back near the bottom of the stairs. read more

nice short hike. probably can be finished in an hour. parking space is limited on the northern trailhead side. Also the bathroom there had poo coming up over the toilet seat...probs need to get that cleaned. You can hike along the beach into Pacifica. On the one side is the ocean and on the other is the golf course. lots of folks biking and hiking along with you. Beach not that friendly looking the day we went -- not exactly a place to set up a towel and relax. Wind was heavy and the sand was coarse. The hike into the hills much better scenery - washed out trails from teh heavy rains of the past year make it look pretty dramatic. read more

This is a beautiful place to hike there are some very steep cliffs though so be careful especially with all the recent rain.

Definitely one of my favorite hikes in the bay! It was my first time checking this trail out over the weekend. The weather was supposed to be partly cloudy with highs of 67F so I was expecting a decent amount of fog for most of the hike. To my surprise the fog cleared up midway and the view was just stunning!!! I mean even with the fog the view is spectacular. The trail is narrow in some parts so may be difficult to be 6 ft from others. But for the most part everyone was wearing masks, so thank you everyone for doing your part! There's one portion that has an incline as others have mentioned but other than that the trail itself is 2-3 miles and fairly doable for young children or older adults. I was able to find parking near rockaway beach so I'd suggest looking there if some of the other lots are full. Overall can't recommend this hike enough! Can't wait to go back :) read more
