Very easy and beautiful place for a short hike to get a great vantage point of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is on the short side and good shoes are helpful, but you don't need to be dressed for a legitimate hike.

We walked from the Outer Richmond through Sea Cliff and out to Lands End, with stunning ocean views and incredible Golden Gate Bridge views. It was wonderful to stroll and talk while fully enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. The neighborhood portion is easy walking, and while the Lands End trail has some moderately uneven paths and stairs, comfort levels may vary -- it's okay to turn back if a section doesn't feel right. Highly recommended for anyone -- whether exploring San Francisco or just out for a beautiful walk!

Land's End is a nice place to walk around and get some exercise along the coast. If you're looking to get some steps in, there's a long stairway down from the parking lot. There is also a trail that provides a good view of the Colden Gate Bridge. It's an easy trail with litte to no incline or decline. Nice scenery/views. There's also a small gift shop and bathrooms near the parking lot as well.

After living in the bay for so many years, I finally got to hike the Lands End Trail! Went on Labor Day Sunday with my dad around 9am and there was lots of parking available then. Great views of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. It's a popular park so we did come across a lot of people but still had space to walk comfortably. There are some staircases on the trail which definitely upped the difficulty. Overall, I would say the hike is moderate due to all the steps. My dad was able to complete the hike, but it was a bit challenging for him. We finished after two hours and by the time we returned, the parking lot was full so I recommend arriving before 9:30am. The trail is well-maintained and the views were amazing. Even during summer the nature was lush and green. There could be more trail markers as I had to refer to All Trails for directions, but I would come back!

Excellent trail You get a good view of Golden Gate Bridge. Many walkers here and it is safe to go solo or in a group As a group some spaces will need to be walked single file

Such a great, easy trail for a chill hike and great views of ocean beach and golden gate bridge. It's relatively well-maintained alongside the water and it's a good path to start at Ocean Beach, walk past Sutro Baths and you can make your way all the way to Golden Gate Bridge if you're feeling up for it. It's a great way to get yourself into nature and unwind while still being in the city!

One of my favorite places to reset and breathe in the city. Lands End Trail near Sutro Baths is such a peaceful escape without ever having to leave San Francisco. I come here every time I need to unwind or just get some quiet time with nature. There's a parking lot right near the entrance which makes it super easy to get in and out, especially if you're not up for a long hunt for street parking. The trail itself is scenic all the way through, with beautiful views of the coastline, trees that offer plenty of shade, and wide, comfortable paths that make it a relaxing walk rather than a workout. It's not too strenuous, so it's a great spot for just wandering and clearing your head. Whether you're out solo, with a friend, or just bringing your coffee along for a stroll, this place never disappoints. Definitely one of the best ways to enjoy the city's natural beauty.

Be my girlfriend decided to take a hike about two weeks ago and hike, the land and trail which was 1.7 miles there and 1.7 miles back equaling to about 3.5 miles the hike is very good. It's very long so make sure you bring snacks and water.

I went with a friend to try this hike out for the first time and was amazed by the views. The breeze was super nice especially since we went on a sunny day. The hike has a few viewpoints and places to stop and enjoy. There are some stairs and a couple of small hills but overall not a hard hike.

Lands End is one of my favorite spots in San Francisco! It's a well kept trail with beautiful views of the ocean and Golden Gate Bridge. I love going here in the early mornings to catch the sunrise! There's also a path that will take you straight down to the beach and to Sutro Baths. I've gone in the mornings as early as 5:30am-7:00am and it's pretty peaceful with minimal foot traffic aside from some runners and photographers. I've also come later in the day around 11am-3pm when it gets busier but it never felt overly crowded as the paths are pretty wide for the most part. Fair warning there are some stairs/steps! As for parking, I've never had any issues as there's a lot right by the trail entrance and another lot across the street (both of which are free). Also, Land's End is dog friendly!

Beautiful trail overlooking Golden gate bridge that's easily accessible by public transit. There were so many jaw dropping points throughout the trail, and such a diverse variety of plants and flowers that I wouldn't know which part is my favorite. It's next to a golf course so they note that there a higher risk getting hit with a golf ball here lol. The full loop is about 3.4 miles, and can go onto sutro baths. A must see in SF.

Easy 3 mile round trip walk. We enjoyed the fresh ocean air, fog, and views. Totally worth making it to this corner of town.

I went on the Lands End hike. The view is beautiful and there's a lot of history here that the trail signage shared. There is parking but it can be full. There are also a few Rivian EV charging spots. The 4 stars is because there is a lot of people who visit and it is very much a tourist spot. The further you hike the more likely you'll be able to find some solitude.

Ask the Community - Lands End Trail

Is this hike too steep or uneven for someone with knee issues? How about the trail to the Sutro Baths?

The main Lands End hike with overlook to see the Golden Gate bridge is flat, easy, and well-traveled. So if you do have an issue, there will often be many people around to help.… Read more

    Is the beach clothing optional?

Bakers Beach, to the North side. Marshalls Beach is definitely for nudist, however smaller and less sand and lots of extra,(shall we say) activities. You'[d need to be open minded. Most beaches you could be nude at with discretion however.

    Is this hike dog friendly?

    Yes, definitely!

How long is the whole Lands End Hike?

I would say for an average person 1-2 hours. It's not a super long trail. There are so stairs mid trail but otherwise a pretty easy trail.

    Good for preschoolers?

    Yes easy enough for them.

    Is it stroller friendly?

there are actual steps, the walk is pretty easy, but stroller might be hard

How long does it take to walk from Lands End to GG Bridge?

the distance is about 2.9 Miles, so it should take about 1 hour

    How is the parking?

Parking is easy and it's free! They have a big parking lot. May be a little busier on the weekends, but it's never been a problem for me.

I'm not normally one to recommend spending too much money, but you could do much worse than picking up overpriced sandwiches, chips, and drinks from nearby Gus's, walking to Mission Creek Park, and making a picnic out of it. There's no readily apparent--wink, wink--easy parking nearby, but lucky for you, there's plenty of public-transit access. There are many things I hate about Mission Bay as a new neighborhood, but its park game is right up there with the best of San Francisco neighborhoods. Now if only the esplanade area (north of Mission Creek Channel, between 3rd & 4th Streets) were part of this park, it would be perfect.

The park itself is very grassy and nice to sit and chill and read or just people watch. Lots of people bring their dogs here. I love being around water and the calmness it brings. It's a nice break from the classic tourist SF waterfront. For a walk it's about 1.5 miles for a loop up to the ballpark and back to the houseboats. I don't like this much as a loop since it's a little industrial for a bit when going under the freeway area, so I tend to just walk through the park across the bridge and back. For something longer, you can add China Basin Park and the Bay Trail to Crane Cove Park. This is better for someone that lives around here or already doing something in the area. Parking on Channel can get very expensive on a meter if there is a game going on at nearby Oracle Park. For a list of more SF hikes and walks: https://bit.ly/43PhQtL
