Hands down the best bakery on Staten Island everything is fresh and their talent is unmatched

Lets paint the picture. Its a beautiful sunny day, slightly warm and you arrive in Fathers Day (your mistake) to place an order for a cake to be picked up in a week. No big deal right? You arrive, the line is nearly a block but you decide to wait because its Fathers Day after all and you dont really have anything to do. 45 minutes later you arrive to the window, to place an order for a cake, to be picked up in a week only to be told we arent taking orders for cakes. Baffled that a bakery isnt going to take an order for a cake, after their Instagram is literally called MORETTI CAKES, I explain again its not for today but for a week. So the counter girl is kind enough to ask the I assume owner or head pastry chef and she expresses again we arent taking orders for cakes. No time line as to when they will take orders again. No explanation as to why a bakery, one with an instagram name expressing their expertise in cakes, isnt taking cakes orders. If they had said or explained that they were backed up with too many orders for the next few weeks, or that they would take cake orders in two weeks when they werent so bogged down, I would understand, I feel anyone would. Just a simple, we dont make cakes. So seems a simple, wont make a new customer ‍ 1 star because the counter lady was kind. read more

I heard a lot about their dream cake so I decided to order one. The woman on the phone tells me I can't pre-order a dream cake. I should just come in and can purchase whatever they have available. I should not have still went but I did. I got the Oreo Dream cake. Very disappointing. It was very dry and tasted stale. We also got a few loves of bread all of which were stale. I wound up make croutons out of them. Really disappointed, I was looking forward to some fresh bread and what I got old and inedible. read more

First of all this is one of my favorite spots on Staten Island. My family visits Moretti regularly especially for their dream cakes. This week we ordered a birthday cake for my grandsons 6th birthday. It was sprinkle covered and should have been filled with strawberries and cream. Here's the problem... The cake was essentially 2 staked dream cakes. Cool, right...no! Even if you buy 2 dream cakes it's 24$-30$ tops for 2. So how is a sprinkle covered cake totaling 90$. And they forgot that we wanted strawberries. So we essentially paid 90$ for a sprinkle covered cake with buttercream filling. Ok...I have hosted dozens of parties. My go to place for birthday cakes is generally The Cake Chef on Jewett Ave or Alfonzos on Victory Blvd. Both of these bakeries have AMAZING specialty cakes twice the size and less expensive. So why did this cake at Moretti (2 stacked dream cakes) cost 90$ dollars? Aha....Aha... now that's the question we have been asking!!!!!! Why oh why. Was not pleased with this one. Will definitely stay with them for small dream cakes as a coffee and tea compliment. But when I need cakes for large social events and parties, I will stick with The Cake Chef or Alfonso's where neither of these bakeries have yet to disappoint me. read more

My sister placed an order for custom donuts from Moretti Bakery for my bridal shower. Upon arriving at the bakery she was given the box of donuts from a staff member. The donuts were not the ones she had ordered but since the party was starting soon she cut her losses and took the donuts. After arrive at the venue 40 mins away from Moretti she received a call from the staff member who had handed her the donuts accusing her of taking the wrong order and she had to bring them back immediately. The woman was extremely rude and made it as if my sister was at fault for taking the wrong order, even though an employee boxed and handed her the donuts. My sister had to have her boyfriend drive the donuts back across Staten Island while this woman kept calling her and harassing her over when the donuts would be back. When her boyfriend arrived at Moretti's she was very rude and condescending. He was upset about the how the situation was being handled and said that he had to drive an hour to return the order. The woman replied sarcastically "What a great boyfriend you are" and patted him on the back. It is such a shame that a business would treat customers this way when they were to blame for messing up the order in the first place. Such nasty attitudes and blatant disrespect. We will never be using your bakery again. And to be honest the donuts weren't even that great. Do better. read more

They made our friend's baby shower cake and I must say WOW! I don't even care for cake that much but it amazing.

I went in two weeks ago and the owner wasn't there. The girls working the counter took all of my information, what cake I wanted, etc. They told me when the owner was back she would call me to go over style/design of cake. An entire week went by with no call so I go back in. Again, the owner is not there and the girls at the counter confirm that they have all of my information and the owner would call me. I said I was nervous because the party was a week away and I needed to know that a cake would be made. They said that it was in her pile or customers to call and finalize details but that the order would be fulfilled. Feeling uncomfortable about the lack of communication, I decided to message the owner on IG. She said that she could make the cake with some changes. I said great but then again- radio silence. I go into the bakery today and again the counter girls tell me she is not in. I explained that I was very worried about this cake because the party is 3 days away and cannot understand why the owner has not called me back in two weeks. They gave me the owners personal cell phone number and suggested I call her. I sent a text and she called me back immediately and said she was sorry but she's been very sick and on top of it 7 months pregnant and would not be able to make the cake. She said she never confirmed the cake so there shouldn't be an issue on my end. I explained that I had been going into the store for two weeks straight asking if I should be worried and now am stuck with a party 3 days away. She said "I don't know what to tell you. I can't do it". I've overlooked a lot of issues in the many years I've been going to morettis because I've always enjoyed their products. I've ignored waiting on a line wrapped around forest ave waiting to pick up a cake that was fully paid for on holiday weekends. I've overlooked being given a time and an order being ready 2-4 hours after it was promised. I've even overlooked the way the owner and her mother treat the girls working for them (like crap if you are wondering). However, being stuck without a cake 3 days before an event - has been the breaking point. You can love Morettis - but I think even their most loyal customers will tell you how unorganized and unreliable they are. When dealing with important events, please use a reputable bakery. And I promise, this is not the one. read more

I'm speechless with the experience I have had in this bakery. Not only did I place my order 2 months in advance and call 2 weeks before my daughter 1st birthday party my cake and 2 dozen of cupcakes were completely forgotten about. A women who works there and has a husband with the last name "Gonzalez" bragged mostly about being married and talking to other co-workers on the phone while I placed my order and had to repeat myself multiple times to rush me off of the phone to then the day of my daughter birthday party I call at 7:45 am to see if my cake will be ready on time because I never received no call or email on any information on my cake being made. where she then completely admits to forgetting about my order and apologizes to then go on and explain it will be 2 hours late than the expected time I was suppose to be there to pick it up. When my family finally got there this same lady was completely disrespectful and threatened to bring the cake home to her family since I was so "selfish and did not like it." The cake was a completely different cake than what I paid almost $300 for and the 2 dozen of cupcakes were made the wrong flavor on top of that. I was almost in tears to experience this. She also decided to block me on the bakery Instagram page when I explained I would be giving a very truthful review on this bakery. I recommend no one ever buying anything from this bakery. The people they allow to work here are so rude and heartless. And in the end the cake did not even taste good it was dry and basically falling apart. The crown was leaning to the completely opposite way before leaving the bakery and the lady seemed to not care and showed no sympathy. I'm almost in shock on how this business runs. read more

After having heard wonders from close friends who had ordered from them more than once, I contacted the owner through Instagram and called the bakery. She (the owner) answered in a fashionable manner via Instagram but when she returned my call, had an attitude, not very business friendly. Well, I decided to continue and sent her pictures of the cake I wanted. Her response was very short and straight. That was still okay, I just really wanted my cake. But when I asked her about the flavors and to confirm with me, she never answered back. I reached out to her multiple times trying to get her to confirm with me and i even offered to give a deposit. Literally 3 days before my event she messaged me through Instagram and called me asking me if I still wanted the cake. They sell doggy cookies, cakes, pretzels & some other cute desserts just for PETS! Im all about I live in a dog world :-) ($2.00 and up) I hear there Dream Cakes are so delicious but haven't tried them yet they come in all different flavors. They sell all types of cookies and pasties and Italian cookies too. They have no sugar cookies and desserts and also fresh bread made daily in all sizes and shapes. I stopped here after business meeting in SI. I live in Brooklyn so I have a wide experience of bakeries. (I am the lady whose husband only bought ONE Lindsor tart, btw.) The cookies I bought when I went in after him (after ranting about wanting a divorce) were the absolute BEST I have ever tasted. My goodness, the dough was sooo flakey and fresh, the jam of ALL the cookies was sooo generous, I ate half on the way home! Anytime I'm in SI, I will stop by. You guys are sooo lucky to have such a fine bakery in your neighborhood that if I wasn't tied to Brooklyn, I would move to SI just for the cookies. The pictures show gorgeous cakes, too. I thought their dream cake is good, but wait till you try their coffee crumb cake, crossiant and jelly donut! The crumb cake is so so moist and fresh, the crumb is not sweet at all (though it might be not sweet enough for some people), which I really like!!! We had her cake for my daughter in-law's baby shower. It was just ok. The cake her nonna baked was better then then the actual baby shower cake. And the owner tries to be nice but.......comes off as not really wanting to be bother. I was going to order a cake from her for my son's birthday but she told me she would call me. She did, and left me a voice message saying to call her back tomorrow. When I actually followed her directions she scolded me. She told me it was Friday and she was to busy to take an order for a cake that is 3 weeks from now. She said she would call me back. She never called me back and I'm glad she didn't. DO NOT GO HERE. They have HORRIBLE customer service. I had ordered a cake for my nieces christening. I ordered the cake a week beforehand. It was supposed to be ready at 1:00. I didn't get there till 1:15. Party started at 1:30 and I didn't get there till 2:00, especially since I was the one who organized the party. The cake was NOT ready. the Cake also looked like shit like it was rushed. The cake was also melted. The manager claimed that it was my fault that the cake was melted because I didn't have AC on in the car, which I did. Also, they told me that I should put the cake in the trunk On a flat surface. It would've melted even more, no?! They didn't put a cover on the cake. They didn't have a size box for my cake! when they slid it in the box, the rosary flower fell off!! And because the cake didn't fit in the box, the used duct tape to secure it! Again, no cover on the cake as well! That's not very sanitary. The manager, who was a little old Italian lady, was extremely nasty and was yelling. so we yelled back (all this happened on the phone). As a manager, you don't blame customers or yell at your customers. Never again will we give them business. And we always have them business. DON'T GO HERE. They are terrible. read more

I have used Morettis Bakery for my daughters Christening cake and her 1st birthday cake smash. Not only are her cakes absolutely beautiful, they taste just as good as they look. No idea why customer service is that bad but hey who am i to speak, im just a regular nobody who is looking to order custom cakes and a few loaves of bread. DO NOT ORDER from here this wednesday I was going to pick dessert up for my family and a woman came in upset her granddaughters birthday cake was a last minute cancel by Cinzia. The woman at the bakery was Cinzia's mom goes ahead and tells this woman her daughter had covid and was in the hospital... that was the reason she couldn't make her granddaughters birthday cake. Cinzias mom tells this woman how she was around her daughter and how sick she was.... trying to make her feel bad for this late minute cancel. First off how was this woman still keeping the bakery open after she was exposed...GREAT WAY TO SPREAD the virus with such neglect you should be closed down for good. With your horrible customer service, and your irresponsible ways in which you put our community at risk by possibly spreading the virus you should be closed down. I have been frequenting Moretti's bakery for years. Never have I been disappointed. They do not have the largest selection of baked goods but what they have is always made to perfection. One might think bread is bread, but not in this case. I don't know what the mother and daughter duo do to their semolina Italian bread, but it absolutely melts in your mouth. I am always asked to get Moretti's biscuit cookies when I go to someone's house for a party. They are delicious. And you have to try their specialty dream cakes. They come in so many flavors you can't get through all of them, although, I would like to. The mother and daughter proprietors are fun and lovely. read more
