I've never been to a "Saloon" before and I always wanted to walk thur those little swinging doors, just like in the movies. Unfortunately, there was a real door two feet from the swinging door, so the experience didn't quite meet my expectations! It's a dive, it's dark, it's messy and it's a bar. But it truly is the best pizza anywhere. Order your own pizza from the window and then order your drinks from the bar. Don't worry about the bar part, it's actually a great place to bring the kids. Let them throw peanuts on the floor and carve their names into the tables. They will have a blast. And the place does have kid drinks although the bartender might ask if they want whiskey or rum. ;) This is a fun place for a group and a great local place to duck into. This place was recommended to us, and I can't understand why. This is the WORST PIZZA I have ever had. No exaggeration. It's fine that it is a "dive" bar; I love dives. This place had so many dirty tables, and hardly anyone to clean them. There is no one to seat you or take your order. Ok fine, but I had to go to the bar and ask for a cloth to wipe a table. They gave me a disgusting one. I then had to go to the bathroom to get a soapy paper towel to clean off the table. We ordered a pepperoni pizza which had three tiny pieces of pepperoni. We should have left, but after a long day at Glacier National Park, we were too tired and hungry. Stay away - go to McDonalds or a convenience store. read more

Moose's definitely has their niche. It's a bar complete with LOTS of Montana local color. Don't look too closely, though. It's actually disgustingly dirty but somehow charming at the same time. Where else can you throw your peanut shells on the floor and have ice cold $2 beers? And I noticed that the bartender hand washes the glasses old-fashioned style in the 3 rinse method. They don't have a dishwasher at the bar. Hmmm....the pizza. Tastes good when you're REALLY hungry and nothing else is open. But it would never, ever hold up next to any kind of quality pizza. So, in summary, Moose's is fun to go to for beer and people watching. read more

Simultaneously while my husband's co-worker was telling him that this was the best pizza, new friends of mine were telling me the same, so we made a run over last night. It's dark, the floors are covered in sawdust and peanut shells, all wood surfaces have been carved and it's the perfect place to take your kids. As my son said "this is the dirtiest restaurant ever and I love it!" The pizza is some of the best I've ever had- the crust is to die for. read more

Being from San Diego, my girlfriend and I knew we wouldn't blend in with the locals, but decided to try out this local hot spot anyways. Our bartender was pleasant to us and the service was great. I was floored when two pints of locally brewed amber ales came to total of $4. That price is amazing, especially when compared to prices in San Diego. The beer wasn't as good as some other locally brewed beers I've had in San Diego, but it was definitely good and worth drinking. The pizza was great too and reasonably priced. I could certainly do without the sawdust on the floor, but if you're into good pizza and good beer, Moose's Saloon is a must stop if you're in Kalispell, MT. read more

In Kalispell there is an establishment that embodies our idea of a western town: rough around the edges, but warm and accepting once you get to know the regulars. That establishment is Moose's Saloon. Equipped with swinging saloon doors, just like the old days, when you enter this dimly lit saloon don't be alarmed at the crackle under your foot; that's just peanut shells and sawdust. While you wait for your pizza to be brought to your table you can peruse the numerous carvings that have been made into every nook of every exposed piece of wood or enjoy one of the saloon's many libations while watching 'the game.' We ate our first pizza at a table and enjoyed it. Not much to report about the pizza - it was good. Afterwards, we found two seats at the bar and were met gruffly by the bartender who abruptly took our order, served us and then put our money in a cash register that looked as if it was the original register of the saloon. By our second round, the bartender had warmed up to us and we had found ourselves engaged in a lengthy conversation with a local, who the bartender had introduced us to, who was also a fan of Philadelphia sports teams. All in all. Come and enjoy the pizza, but stay for the atmosphere. read more

I've eaten pizza all the way from Lombadi's in Little Italy (NYC) to Seattle's 2AP. I'm a connoseuier. Moose's is among the best of the best. They have a uniquely chewy, thin, crisp, crust and lean a little to the greasy side, but in a really really good way. This is not your typical chain store delivery pizza. I love it!! The atmosphere is dark, a little loud, and a little uncomfortable. It's all worth it for the pizza and a cold beer. I highly recommend Moose's. read more

So, I must admit, I am slightly biased when it comes to Moose's pizza, having been one of those fortunate few who grew up in God's Country. The pizza is simply the best I have ever had. The atmosphere is about what you would expect in a saloon. Dimly lit, sawdust and peanut shells all over the floor, TV's with sports on, poker machines, and friendly and professional bartenders getting you your beer while the wait staff gets you your food. It can get loud at times, but not usually during lunch, unless there is a softball tournament or rugby festival in town. When you order pizza or sandwiches, make sure to bring cash as they don't take cards. Yeah, that is a little bit of a pain sometimes, but oh well. There is an ATM right in the saloon if you don't have cash. I have spent the last 25 years of my life in the military away from Montana. Every time we came home, we brainwashed our kids with Moose's pizza. During their youthful years, they always said they preferred the national pizza chains more, blasphemy. As they have grown and experienced life all over the country, they now realize it is the best. When we are home to visit relatives, it is mandatory to eat there at least once, if not more. I have never eaten one of their sandwiches, but my parents, other relatives, and old friends all love them. Unfortunately, I have never been in town long enough to try one of their sandwiches as I have never quenched my ravenous appetite for their pizza. Maybe someday. During our last visit there, my daughter and I were ordering lunch on the way out of town at Frugal Burgers (another outstanding Kalispell institution). My wife informed me she didn't want a burger for lunch. I asked her what she wanted to eat on the road and she replied Moose's, even though we had just eaten there the night prior. Who was I to argue with good taste? A short 20 minutes later we were on our way out of town with my wife smiling and enjoying her own black olives and mushroom Moose's pizza. Some of the best pizza on the west coast I've ever had. It's not authentic Italian, but it's as good as any American style pizza can get. The prices are extremely fair, 13$ for a gluten-free combo pizza with spiced to perfection with added Jalepenos! The sandwiches are looking great, the beer is dirt cheap. A pitcher of Irish Death is $10 which is about 4 pints. Grab a cup of peanuts, rip them open one by one and toss them all over the floor. It's tradition. The place isn't too small, you can bring kids as well. It's a bit dark inside but it's a perfect ambiance for what Mooses is. read more
