Our first time here! And can't believe we havnt been before! Staff was amazing! Very friendly! They forgot my egg drop soup, so they came back with two. One on the house! They are all so sweet! The food!!!! WOW! Fresh amazing! Full of flavor! It wasn't too loud or bright . An amazing date night spot! We will definitely be back.!

One of the best restaurants on Oahu! In fact it may be my favorite. My daughter's dance school performs at Paliku theater twice a year and for the week leading up to it I'm in Kaneohe nearly every day. I tried Moonga last May when we picked it up after her evening show. When we got home to eat the food we were all shocked at how good it was for take out. I knew I would go back following her winter performance. Fast forward to this week after a grueling 4 shows in 2 days our group decided to celebrate at Moonga. 3 of our aunties came for the performance and joined us at the restaurant. They can be quite the food critics but our 80 year old auntie said this was some of the best tempura she's ever had! Sesame tofu was 10/10, perfectly crispy perfect sauce. A must try for vegetarians. Sweet potato roll also delicious. Tons of seating and nice updated facility. The Waiter was very kind. I also appreciate that the waiter offered to split the tickets before we even asked. Many places don't do this. Easy parking in the lot outside. I'm not going to wait until the spring performance to come back this is one of my new favorite restaurants and I will gladly drive from town for that tempura and sesame tofu.

Pleasant quiet respite in a more formal Asian, family-friendly restaurant. Good food. Not fast food and not priced like fast food. Table service with bar beverage service available. Good place for a family Sunday dinner. Food: our group tried several different meals-a curry, walnut honey shrimp, a traditional "happy family" type Chinese dish, and other menu items. All were done nicely and were very tasty. The hot and sour soup and miso soup were well liked. All came with a big bowl of white rice. Service: well done Facility-Clean, tables nicely spaced, (some with fabric benches) . nice decor, quiet music playing. Onsite parking lot. Location -convenient location on a main road in Kaneohe.

It was my daughters birthday and she wanted pad Thai. We were in the area and decided to try this spot. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, sushi, dishes to share and of course chicken pad Thai. I will say that we were very happy with the shrimp dishes we tried, I believe the rock shrimp appetizer and the honey walnut shrimp. Fresh and cooked to perfection. The other dishes were good too but not the best I've had. Pad Thai could use some spice for sure. The portions were filling and the place was nice. Our server was great and there's lot of parking.

Great out of the way spot with nice interior decor. Menu covers Japanese, chinese and Thai options. Place was quiet, food portions, quality and service were excellent. If we lived anywhere near this place, we'd be very round from the frequency of meals we'd have here.

This is definitely an all Asian bistro. I came here for a dinner woth a large group. This restaurant was cute and modern. Definitely a casual place, but still great for dates or a family dinner. There is parking around the restaurant and nearby. We came in, and already had a section reserved for us. The hostess showed us tonight spot and they were able to add some last minute orders. The food is not one kind but a variety of Asian dishes. I get the name of "Asian" bistro. They had Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Thai and even Vietnamese dishes. If you have visitors that aren't sure about any kind of Asian cuisine, this might be a great intro to all Asian dishes. Overall the food was pretty decent. The portions were a good size and the price was also affordable. You can probably grab a bunch of appetizers and share. It would still be a great meal. I got the lettuce wraps and they were delicious! I had to order another order.

Moonga has quickly become one of my favorite spots. While the service can be slow, and the dishes never come out at the same time, the food absolutely makes up for it. A light and bright open space with ample seating and kind staff, it's a great place to meet people for lunch, but the tables are far enough apart for date night as well. Everything I've tried is amazing. Lunch specials are definitely the way to go price wise, with the chicken peanut curry being my top pick, followed by the sesame chicken and Mongolian beef. And the goyza are delicious! Steamed and pan fried on one side. Lots of sushi rolls to choose from, but my top two are always the black angel roll and the mango roll. So. Good.

This is my new favorite place to come for a relaxing time, good atmosphere and great food. We probably eat here two times a month. And I always recommend it to my friends and bring family here when they are visiting the island. They have a great menu with anything from Pat Thai to sashimi. I love their peanut curry. It's probably my favorite dish. The orange chicken portion is more than I can eat in one sitting. They have a bar area and also a separate sushi bar area where you can sit at the counter and order sushi. I've always found the service to be very good and the place is very stylish and clean as well. They have accommodations for individuals or larger groups as well. You won't be disappointed I can assure you.

This place is bumpin for dinner time. First time here and the food was quite delicious. They have a mix variety of Asian inspired foods. Tried the pad thai, 420 roll, shrimp tempura, calamari, stuffed jalapeño's and Tempura. It was all delicious. It can be a little pricey as well, given everything is Ala cart style. They have a restroom inside which is clean. The dinning area is spacious and comfortable. Service was alright. It was so busy and there were only 2 people who were waiting tables & working the bar for the whole restaurant. It took awhile to order. The waiter looked like a chicken running around without a head. He was also called out by name and ignored us. Once the waiter came over, We ordered everything at once (appetizers & entrees) we even ordered our food before receiving our waters. The food came out within 30 minutes of ordering and pretty much all at once. I give it 4 stars because they need more wait help, So their waiters aren't scrambling around the restaurant with just 2 of them trying to wait tables and manage the bar.

First time visit the host did not seem "in the mood" seemed a bit grouchy, we got sat pretty quickly as it wasn't busy at the time. Our server however was amazing, I asked questions being my first time and he was so awesome helping us pick a few meals. We started with Misco soup and salad, the salad dressing they use is omgggg really good. We also got some sushi to start, then our main meals. The entrees to me could be split between two people, good portions. I was able to share my meal with my mom. Price point is perfect for the food quality.

After an evening gym session, we decided to try Moonga Asian Bistro this evening before they'd close at 10p. Last kitchen call is at 9:45p Plenty of free parking and this was such a beautiful restaurant! The interior gave a nice red gatsby look with a full mini bar as soon as you enter the restaurant. The seating was nice too because the booth chairs were soft and comfortable! There's a plethora of options from sushi, to Thai food. I think the highlight of the foods that we chose was the crab rangoons and the black angel roll. Crab rangoons were hot, fresh, and crispy with its side dip of sweet sauce. The black angel roll was my favorite : i loved the Kobe beef topped with the yuzu citrus taste - i highly recommend this! The staff were very accommodating and very patient with us when we couldn't decide what to order. The restaurant opened last year between April and May and I'd say that this place is a must-try when you're in Kaneohe! Ambiance is casual with light instrumental music, great for groups, accessible to wheelchairs, and perhaps taking someone here on a date would be a great place to start!

I've eaten in and had take out from Moonga. Takeout was just okay, especially when there's so many choices for Asian food in Kaneohe. In person the service was super fast and friendly. We went on a weeknight and it wasn't crowded at all. Inside everything is new and modern as of November 2024. Chairs were a little low to the ground so if you have mobility issues just fyi.

We had a 4 hour layover in Honolulu and it was a quick 15 minute Lyft ride here to Lucky Belly. We were the only party here right at 5:30 pm. The variety of textures was fantastic and each of the meat fillings were perfectly seasoned and tender, delicious! Each had a different sauce- just enough, not too much. Nothing was spicy but there was chili oil on the table if you wanted to add more heat. We got 2 nonalcoholic spritzers, one lilikoi and one hibiscus, which were each refreshing and complimented the meal. Discussing his thoughts and insights on how he goes about making the wines and the selections for this dinner were enjoyable. Three courses, starting with Kona kampachi crudo, paired with a surprising light and fruity chardonnay. The wine was a very pleasant departure from the "heavy" chardonnays that I had expected, and it was a perfect accompaniment to this lighter dish. It's a wine that could (and should) be drank at anytime. The fish was, of course, fresh, and it wasn't overly dressed, so I could enjoy the natural flavor. The second course was a Kurobuta (known in Japan as the Wagyu of pork), pork loin that was roasted and served with an ume vinaigrette and a black garlic and mushroom jus. It was paired with a Carignan wine called, appropriately enough, Higgledy Piggledy. It had the rich flavors of a Zinfandel, but lighter and cleaner. Great all around drinking wine. The final course was the Australian Wagyu Picanha. The Picanha steak is a prized portion of meat, because there are only 2 cuts that you can get from the whole cow, to yield about 6-8 steaks total. It's a very flavorful and fairly tender cut, that's really good eating. This was of course, paired with a cabernet sauvignon, named 'En Foule'. It was very full bodied, with rich, deep flavors of cherry and earth; a perfect pairing for this steak and its preparation. There was no dessert included, so I ordered the pot du creme, with another glass of the Higgledy Piggledy, and a cup of coffee. A thoroughly enjoyable dinner, and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

There were several servers walking by and three bartenders directly in front of us, but no one acknowledged us or offered any help. After about five minutes, one person in my party started walking toward the back of the restaurant to look for someone who could assist us. I stepped a few feet toward the middle of the bar area, near a POS system/kiosk, and finally a young woman who appeared to be the host approached me. She asked how I was doing and whether we had been checked in. I explained that we hadn't and that we'd been waiting in the front for someone to greet us, while pointing toward the entrance. She then asked if the person who had walked toward the back was with me, in a tone that came across as somewhat condescending. She proceeded to tell us to go back and wait in the front, without giving us any indication of how long we'd be waiting or any information about our reservation. As we stood there, I could see her whispering to a server, who then looked directly at us. Whether or not the conversation was about us, the whole interaction felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. After another five minutes, we were frustrated enough that we decided to wait outside. About five minutes later, the host came outside and brought us to our table -- right at our exact reservation time. What made the wait even more frustrating was that there were plenty of open seats on the outside patio, where we were ultimately seated. It felt like we could have simply been acknowledged when we first arrived and given some basic information about the reservation. Our server was nice, but unfortunately the service throughout the meal wasn't particularly attentive. They checked on us maybe once during the meal and also encouraged our party of three to order more food. I also noticed the same host from the front whispering into our server's ear right in front of our table. Again, I have no idea what was being said and it may not have had anything to do with us, but after the earlier interaction, it added to an overall uncomfortable feeling. As for the food, it was just average and, in my opinion, not worth the price. The onion dip was probably the best thing we had. The dan mien was essentially a cheesy egg noodle pasta with just a hint of tomato flavor, and the gnocchi was noticeably mushy and overcooked. Given the price point, I expected much more. The restaurant was definitely busy, particularly around the bar area, so I understand that things can get hectic. But being busy isn't an excuse for not acknowledging guests, especially guests who have reservations. The combination of the initial interaction, the lack of attentiveness throughout the meal, and food that didn't live up to the price left a pretty bad impression. I'm not sure if some of the attitude had anything to do with us being a group of younger-looking women, but that's unfortunately how the experience felt. This left our birthday celebration with a sour taste in our mouths. Hopefully management can address the way guests are greeted and treated in the future. Overall, there are plenty of places where I'd happily spend this kind of money, and based on this experience, Giovedi won't be one of them. Unfortunately, we won't be back.
