Great service and the rice is wonderful... i've been to pricer places where the rice was dry and flavorless... Shame on them! DOMO is so much better... I had tempura and steak... Even the steak was done perfectly thank you so much. You are my go to Japanese food place., And that saying a lot because I lived in Japan and we still go every year read more

Great find while dropping off our pups for their grooming. My husband was hungry so we decided to look at the menu. Walked in and only one table was occupied. We ordered and a ton of people quickly started arriving. The place was almost full by the time we left. It's a small restaurant, only one server who was great. The food came out fresh and delicious. I'm so happy we found this gem! We'll definitely be back again! read more

The owner was so nice to accommodate us, as it was a busy Saturday evening. Came before 6:30. & had 2 tables reserved, Thankyou to Mrs. Owner. Had to wait a little longer, as traffic from Waikiki was heavy. Menu has good variety & everyone ordered what they wanted. See pics & descriptions. The food is nicely presented & entrees, combo & sushi were all delicious. The customer service was excellent too! Prices inline for dining in today! Looking forward to returning for more . Restaurant Domo - Delicious sushi rolls - Japanese Near Me - Kaneohe, Hawaii

Domo is one of four Japanese restaurants in this area of Kaneohe town. We came on a Friday night and it was empty - we had the whole place to ourselves. The menu is small but it has something for everyone - noodles, sushi, donburi, teishoku (combos and single item). There isn't much of an ambiance, and service wasn't super friendly, but it was efficient. I wouldn't say this is our favorite Japanese restaurant in Kaneohe, but the food is decent and you don't need to wait to get a table. read more

We love this place. My wife and I have dates there when we are looking for a place with great food and a quiet ambience. For some reason, it reminds me of the "Midnight Diner, Tokyo Stories" show--even though the layout is completely different. I love the combos, and the variety of dishes seems good to satisfy most Japanese food lovers. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Something hard to find these days. I truly appreciate its family-run business vibe. If you are looking for a fancy (read more expensive) Japanese restaurant with all the bells and whistles tourists look for, this is not the place. The space decoration is, if anything, minimalist--which is great for someone like me. Service has always been friendly and pleasant. The food is made to order, so it takes longer to get it to the table than in other restaurants. Price-wise, it is not among the cheapest places, but the quality of the food, the kindness of their service, and the local businesses' support justifies that. read more

Enjoyed all the various bento combos. First time I have seen clam croquette and salmon katsu. Both were delicious and highly recommend. Other bento combos we ordered were chicken karaage, soft shell crab, miso butter fish, and salmon. Only a few small tables but they were able to reserve a table for our party of 10. Only one waitress but super efficient. read more

Restaurant Domo - Spider and salmon roll - Japanese Near Me - Kaneohe, Hawaii

Looking for a place to have dinner, my wife and I decided to try Domo Japanese restaurant. We heard of this place but never tried it till now. The parking lot is kinda small but we had no problem finding parking. We walked in and sat ourselves. There was one waitress working and the place was full. We didn't have to wait too long before our waitress served us some water to drink. The place looks like a real local style open seating restaurant. No booths just tables with chairs. Nice and clean. My wife ordered the Ten Don which was done like an Oyako Donburi style. It had eggs with onions and the tempura on top. I think she likes without the eggs and onions. I opted for the Zaru Soba. It was good but we just got back from Japan and I think I was comparing it with what I had in Japan. I also had a side order of Natto roll, which I love. All in all I enjoyed my dinner. If you haven't tried Domo Japanese restaurant please do and make your own judgement. read more

I been to this Japanese restaurant before but I guess the Yelp ghost took my review lol. I ordered their lunch box 2 choice @ $18.95 not bad average prices . My lunch box had miso soup , rice , chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura w/ toss salad. The teriyaki sauce was real good not too sweet and not too overpowering like other places with there Teriyaki sauce . The shrimp tempura also was delicious it came with egg plant , string bean, potato. The shrimp although was on the skinny side. I ordered a side Spider roll which consist of soft shell crab, imitation crab, Avocado with Unagi sauce right on top . Very nice and clean restaurant and our waitress was nice and efficient. Our food came out pretty quick . Support local and be safe read more

First time trying this restaurant was on Valentine's Day. There was a small wait due to a small staff and holiday, but we were seated quickly. Server was very friendly. I ordered the tempura udon and hot tea. There was a small charge for the tea (explained on the menu due to a cause in tea manufacturer) , but once ordered, it was refilled. The tempura included eggplant, green beans, kabocha squash, and shrimp, as well as a dipping sauce. Both the udon and tempura were good. Overall, a nice experience. It's what you would expect from a small mom-n-pop restaurant- welcoming atmosphere, good food, and pleasant service. read more

Delicious!!!! Not disappointed and generous serving. Ordered takeout and was ready on time. Wish they were open for lunch on weekends

Typical husband and wife run establishment. The wait for the food is sometimes extensive but there's only 1 person in the kitchen. I love to order the 3 choice combo plate: chicken katsu, butterfish and mini steak sometimes I get the udon instead of the butterfish. I believe there's 8 tables but it's worth the wait. read more

This is a small mom and pop restaurant hidden in the corner of a tiny shopping center across Zippy's and Windward mall. So small and mom and pop, that when we walked in on Valentine's Day at 5:30PM, we were seated immediately! Win! The menu has the usual combination bentos, teishoku, and donburi. Overall I'd say the food was okay. They had very simple flavors that were almost bland in some dishes. The spicy tuna was not spicy at all, and the grilled salmon was exactly as it sounds. The assorted tempura was great as it comes with 6 pieces of shrimp, but it is pricey. I'd say the winner was the ahi katsu which would have been just okay if we didn't have to katsu sauce. Overall it's pretty underwhelming for the price, but I'd probably come back if I'm REALLY craving Japanese and the other places in town are too busy. Oh also it's really quiet in there! read more

Decided on Restaurant Domo for dinner with friends on March 10, 2020. We had a Paint & Sip event at The Beach House Sports Bar & Grill, which is just a stone's throw away. I called just a couple of days prior to make a reservation for 8 people. Due to the lingering COVID-19 concern, our party dwindled down to 4 the day of and the hostess was still able to accommodate my request up until the last minute. She gave me the stink eye when I arrived, but nevertheless I was grateful and showed my appreciation when it was time to pay at the register. All of us ordered either the 2-Choice ($21.95) or 3-Choice ($25.95) Special Combo Meal, which is served with rice, miso soup, tsukemono, salad, and edamame. Whenever Butterfish Misoyaki is on the menu, you bet I'm gonna order it! So, my second choice was a Mini Udon (mini kake udon with 1pc Shrimp Tempura). Overall, the meal was good. The fish was on the smaller side and a bit bony, so I had to eat it with care. Next time, I'd probably order from the regular Dinner menu - maybe the portion size is bigger and of better value. Service was great. We mentioned the time we'd have to leave, so once again, the server accommodated our request by making sure we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and pack up the leftovers. The restaurant filled up pretty quickly at around 6:00pm with what looked like regulars. Capacity is probably about 25 people, comfortably. The public restroom is outside for the rest of the shopping complex to share, so you'll need the key. read more

Server/owner? Unfriendly service. Had to ask twice for tea. Tempura didn't taste fresh and batter was thick. Ahi spicy sushi was falling apart, not ahi nor spicy, a mash of maybe tiny bits of ahi, mayo? Not sure, but would not recommend it. Won't be back. Decided to try this spot for lunch since we were in Kaneohe. The restaurant is located behind of Zippy's next to Windward Mall. Small little place with about eight tables. Menu selection varied from bentos, noodles, sushi, donburi and teishoku meals. I opted for the 3 choice combination of tempura, unagi and misoyaki butterfish. The meal included miso soup and salad. Usually at other restaurants, there is an up charge to include butterfish or unagi but surprisingly here there was none. Portions were smaller in comparison to other restaurants. My meal had seven pieces of tempura; 3 shrimp, 2 green beans, 1 sweet potato and 1 pumpkin which is more than what other restaurants give. Overall the food and service was ok. read more

We eat at Domo about once a month, great place, taste, presentation and customer service is a thumbs up.

This little Japanese restaurant has great food. They may have a smaller selection on their menu than other similar restaurants, but taste and texture of the food are above the rest. The sushi served here are among the best I've tasted. Top on my list is the Super California Roll. It's a California Roll with unagi on top. I also thought the Ikura nigiri was great. The lunch box special ( two choices) is a great choice. The amount of food you get is well worth the inexpensive price. read more

Japanese cuisine in Kaneohe... I've been dining here for years! It's consistently good! The food, service, free parking, and ambiance (Christian music plays softly in the background) are all great! This time, I had the three choice combination. The chicken curry was a bit spicy for me, so I took the leftovers home. The tempura consisted of three shrimp, two green beans, a slice of pumpkin, and a slice of sweet potato...yumm! The tender unagi was topped with fish flakes which lessened the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce - a good thing. I appreciated the starters of tsukemono and edamame. The miso soup had small diced tofu pieces and seaweed...that's quality! For sure, I'll return! Note: the restroom is outside. Remember to ask for the code. read more

Ambience of this restaurant is nice for a small place, customer service is good and food is tasty. They have a nice selection on their menu. I especially like that their combo deal can include a noodle dish. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is that the wait for our food can be a bit long coming out of the kitchen and when it's busy your wait is longer. It's because everything is prepared fresh. So for us the wait is worth it. read more

My family and I go here often....mostly for lunch but we've gathered there for dinner a couple times. Service is always great but the food is exceptional. My favorites are agedashi tofu and their Teri beef. I don't usually order Teri beef from restaurants but theirs is absolutely my favorite. This little restaurant located right next to wholesale unlimited in Kaneohe makes some delish Japanese food! Due to COVID, they are offering take out only and I think this is one of the few places with take out meals, they serve miso soup, toss salad and tsukemono with their dishes to go! This is awesome! Being a regular here, the staff is friendly and is always welcoming. They offer sushi, two, three selections as well as single choices and everything your order here is tasty. Their shrimp tempura is a clean batter, with 3 shrimps, 2 string beans, and sweet potato! Yummy! And most prices are reasonable! When dine-in is all allowed, the restaurant is clean. And parking is available. read more

I ordered the 2 choice and Tamayo Nigiri. It's was not sushi rice and the teriyaki chicken was raw. Service was slow. My rice came from the bottom of the pot. Pictures included. This was a great find tucked away between Windward Mall and Zippys. Mom and I were ono for Aga Dashi Tofu close to home and we found it. Since were always on the look out for great Japanese restaurants that serve this dish we gave it a try. We order a pick two for dinner of tempura ahi and miso butterfish as well as our Aga Dashi Tofu and shrimp/veggie tempura. Portions were good and the food fresh. Be prepared to wait a bit since it seems like only one server and maybe one cook in the back. Since we weren't in a rush and understanding it was Christmas time. No sweat. It was worth the wait and we came home with extra food. We'll be back to make this a regular visit. read more

I wasn't sure about coming at prime dinner time, but I was really craving some tempura close by after a trip to the beach. When I arrived, a server cleaned off a table for me right away and seated me. I was nervous about how long it would take to get my food with two huge groups putting in orders just ahead of me, but I didn't have to worry. They brought me miso soup, edamame, and water quickly. My combo of tempura and salmon also came out super quickly, which I really appreciated. The service was awesome throughout the meal, even though it was clear they were busy. The food was pretty tasty, although I do like my tempura a bit lighter/crunchier. One thing I did notice was a periodic microwave beeping noise in the back. I think they were just warming up the miso soup, but I was surprised that a sit-down place like this would rely on microwave power. read more

Just got off the phone with one of the restaurant workers. It is 5:06pm. Takeout is already backed up to 7pm. I asked how that is possible if the store hours are 5pm.
